Inhaling deeply as beads of cold perspiration formed on my brow and my heart pounded, I braced myself for being caught in the act of eavesdropping and fleeing when the sound of footsteps grew louder as the person approached the door. The rat squeaked right behind me as it ran through the other side of the balcony.
"A rat made a mess, sire," Edmund muttered as he peered through the curtains and let it loose for a few moments before leaving.
"I see, I was afraid some intruder had overheard our talk," Draco explained.
"Who, your highness, would dare to listen in on our conversation?"
Draco said as his boots echoed across the room, "Perhaps, a precious mice that got lost on my den, Edmund." He added, "You are dismissed Edmund, I have things I need to handle alone," and with that, Edmund's disappearing shoe heels clicked as he fled the room with a loud thud as the door shut close. A little creek was created from the glass door, just as it had been not long after Edmund's absence, and before I could react and see the situation, a pair of man's arms scooped me up and hurriedly dragged me inside the room.
Just as me and Edmund entered the room, I can feel Kassandra's presence outside the balcony. Her aroma lingering in the air and her smell of terror sifted through the air with her heart thumping loudly, sensing her shadows visibly visible behind the transparent curtains she moved her position to shelter herself behind the wall.
Edmund and I were in the middle of a conversation when she stumbled over the vase and crushed it on the floor while attempting to fit herself into the corners.
"Can you tell me who's here?" says the narrator. " I teasingly yelled out. Pretending I hadn't even noticed she was there. My lips twitched with a grin as I sensed her heart skip a beat in terror. Occupied by my enjoyment of teasing Kassandre, Edmund carefully approached the glass doors leading to the balcony, to seek for the source of the mess, he was about to open the door when a rat squeaked, scurrying through the other side.
Turning his face in front of me, Edmund remarked. "A mess produced by only a rat, sire," I had to hold back my chuckle from what he told me, as he described the 'rat' who caused the mess, which was actually the little Kassandre hiding herself.
"Oh, I see. I was worried that someone had overheard our chat."
After immediately dismissing Edmund and sending him on his way, I continued on my way closer to Kassandre's location. Seeing her caught off guard watching far away in the distance, I quickly grabbed her up in my arms and carried her inside, depositing her on top of the study table as I pushed the items that had been on it aside. As the season transitioned into winter, her body were cold as ice when I carried her inside, and her lips were cracked from the cold.
"How did you end up down here?" " I asked, my gaze fixed on her, intently observing her every move. Her heart begins to race as her eyes scan the room, scrambling her thoughts as she tries to recall words in her head to come up with a suitable explanation to answer my inquiry. As I wait for her response, the clock ticks loudly. "I am not a gentle guy, Kassandre, and I don't have the patience to waste my time prying answers from your gorgeous lips."
Her eyes turn round in surprise as she registers my words.
'Look at you now, blushing from what I just said.'
As if sensing I'm still watching her, she immediately conceals her reaction from me so as not to reveal her fragility.
"And, your majesty, what husband in his right mind would lock his wife up in her chamber for days?" " She replied deftly.
"You may find my reasoning silly, but I do everything I can to protect you," I replied as I sat in the chair in front of her, massaging my temples as I felt a headache coming on.
"What are you trying to protect me from?" Why? Am I going to die? Who——“
My stomach turned as fear gradually overtook my entire existence and my heart skipped a beat in response to what she stated. Flashback of memories starts returning once again as I remember her face as I cradled her in my arms, her life slowly slipping away in every seconds. I blurted out something that she shouldn't know right now before I could control my emotions and myself.
"You're not going to die again,"
My brows furrowed in bewilderment at what Draco had just spoken.
'Another death? But how? He speaks to me as if we've known each other for a long time....'
"Just don't fall in love with me," he said, his voice quivering.
When I heard those words come out of his mouth, I burst out laughing.
"What makes you think I'd fall in love with you?" And, if that's the case, what's your stake in it? It's my life, and I have the freedom to love who and what I want."
"Then......" Draco rose up and took a slow stride closer to me, raking his eyes over my body with burning indestructible hunger. The tips of his fingers progressively brushing against my legs, up to the point where my thighs meet. "Do you mind if I do these kind of things?" Just as after he said, his hands brushed over a section of my inner core. Making my face flushed with shame as I panted in desire and let out a moan from his exquisite touch.
"I—I'm not a fan of it; keep your hands to yourself."
"Then why did you moan?” He asked as he leaned his forehead to mine and hastily kissed it. “Just admit it, you badly want me to touch you.”
