Gaps

"I... I was just..." He leaned away and smiled. "Looking out my window again? While I am right downstairs?" I laughed nervously. "I was getting dressed. Give me some privacy." He raised a brow. "You are my girlfriend. You shouldn't care about that." "Matthew," I said, my voice stern. We had gone over the subject so many times. I didn't want to be like that with him. "Fine. Fine. I won't bother you. But would you at least let me kiss you? " I sighed. "I need to dress up, Matthew." "Fine. I bet Cassandra would be able to fill that gap in. She has been eager to anyway." "Matthew!" "What do you want me to do, Iris? I can't spontaneously kiss you, I can't f*****g share a bed with you. If I didn't know you better, I would swear you were keeping yourself for someone else. So, yes. You may be the one I have loved all my life, but I am a man. I don't mind letting someone else do the things you don't want to." I swallowed, my fists clenching. I blinked rapidly, my chest heaving. For a moment, all was silent. He suddenly covered the distance, a small smile lifting his lips. "Of course, I don't mean that, babe. I just love you so much, and sometimes, I swear, it is so hard to control. I am sorry, okay? You know I wouldn't..." "How do I know you wouldn't? You bring it up every time. You say it every single time." He laughed again, patting my head. "Oh, please. Don't let trivial things get to you. Just because I say it doesn't mean I would actually have the heart to do it. Don't you trust me, baby?" "Matthew..." "Of course, you don't trust me. I knew you didn't. You think I am going to cheat. But..." I covered the distance and slowly kissed him, stopping him from talking. The voices in my head were loud enough. The awareness that Nikolai was just one dangerous stunt away... He cupped my neck and slowly pinned me back to the wall, his kisses quickly becoming needy, his hands running around me. I held his hand and slowly broke the kiss, my eyes wide, my chest heaving. "I need to dress, Matthew." He broke into a smile. "Okay. Fine. I will go down and wait, okay?" I nodded, and he placed another peck on my lips before moving away. I watched him as he walked backwards till he reached the door. He then blew me a kiss before walking away and closing the door behind him. I ran to the window and pulled the curtains apart, but almost at the same time, the drapes closed, and all I got to see was the silhouette of Nikolai against the drapes as he closed the window too. I let out a small breath, my eyes closing, my lips parting. My knees felt weak, and I slowly went to my knees, my lips parting. How did I get here?
