Veronica “What did you think about the wedding?” Felicia questioned as she refilled the sugar pots. I kept my back to her because I didn’t want her to see how guilty I felt. “I won’t lie to you, Felicia,” I said as I wiped down the table. “I was highly distracted,” “By?” “By two beautiful-looking men,” I admitted. Even though she couldn’t see my face, I blushed as I thought about the twins. “Two identical-looking men?” she asked, and I nodded as I finally turned to face her. Felicia smiled knowingly and that only made it so much worse. “The Biggs twins are very handsome,” “That they are,” I couldn’t help but agree. I got started on the next table as I glanced over at the clock that hung above the door. In twenty minutes, the diner would open, and I wasn’t fooled. Even though there was no one waiting outside, as soon as those doors opened, we would be busy. May’s diner was the “it” spot for so many members of Skaydal. “They are single, you know,” Felicia remarked, and I groaned. “I didn’t need to know that,” I told her, and she laughed. “And as far as I know…you are single too,” she sang out, but I chose to ignore her. I wasn’t about to entertain the idea of getting involved with either twin. That would be absurd. Right? “They don’t date all that much….as they are waiting for the day, they meet their mates…but if you noticed them, maybe they noticed you too,” “It doesn’t matter. The last thing I need is to get involved with either of them,” I said firmly. I stepped back to make sure all of the tables were clean and ready for service. I nodded once I was satisfied and turned to Felicia, who was watching me with amusement. “Besides, this is the first time in my life that I can do whatever I want,” “Exactly,” she said as she nodded over at the door. I was almost too scared to look as I slowly turned to face the door. Sure enough, two identical faces peered back at us. I groaned as I smoothed down the skirt part of my uniform. “Let them in dear, we are ready,” Felicia then said, and I was tempted to run away. I didn’t. Instead, I opened the doors. “Good morning,” I greeted them as the twins simply stood staring at me. “Would you like to come in? Grab a table? Order something? Or would you prefer to stand outside all day?” I couldn’t help but take note of them. Again, one had his hair perfectly styled, while the other looked as though he couldn’t find his brush or comb. Both were still clean-shaven and while they both wore a pair of dark blue jeans, that is where the similarities ended. The one with the perfectly styled hairstyle wore a light blue short-sleeved shirt with a pair of black shoes that shone, while the other wore a bright red t-shirt with a pair of white sneakers. Still, they were both extremely handsome. “I think…” the more stylish one said as he glanced at his brother. “That we will come inside,” I hurriedly moved out of the way, and I did my best not to look at their butts as they walked to a booth. “Well then, what would you like?” I asked as I approached the booth. “Coffee,” the stylish one ordered, and I looked over the other one. “Ok, before I get that for you, could you tell me who you are?” I couldn’t help but ask. I certainly wasn’t going to refer to them as the stylish one and the other one in my head. “Callum,” the more stylish one said, with a boyish smile that made me blush. “Conrad,” the other one said, and he shot me a wink that made me gasp softly. While they were wearing different clothing, I noticed that Conrad had a small teardrop tattoo on his left hand. Now I wouldn’t forget. “And you are?” “Veronica Tatum, but I go by Ronnie most of the time,” I said, and they both smiled. It was too much for me, but before I could think about anything else, Conrad stood up. “Well, it is lovely to meet you…officially…but before you get too busy, do you think you could spare us a few minutes of your time?” Conrad questioned me and I frowned. I wasn’t sure what to make of it but as I glanced over my shoulder, Felicia immediately nodded. She must have been eavesdropping. Conrad must have seen Felicia’s go-ahead as he slipped in beside his brother. I carefully sat down across from them. “What is this about?” I asked curiously. “Well, you see…the thing is…” Conrad started and, for some reason, he seemed suddenly nervous. “We realized…or we both realized something the other day at the ceremony,” “Oh? What’s that?” “You are my mate,” Conrad said, and my eyes went wide. “And you are my mate too,” Callum hurriedly added. I stared at them for a moment and then I couldn’t help myself as I started to laugh. “The two of you can’t be serious!” I exclaimed as I stood up. “That is crazy! And I don’t believe you. Now, what would you like to order? Just coffee?” I asked as I took out the small notepad. I glanced at the two brothers, and something shifted inside of me. For some reason, they looked hurt. “This isn’t a joke, Veronica,” Conrad remarked softly. “We wanted to come and see you sooner, but…it was quite a shock to us as well,” Callum said, and I frowned. “You cannot be serious about this. There is no way that I am the mate of twins…that is craziness! I may not be a wolf, but even that seems a bit…out there,” “We agree…but we wanted to tell you first, before we went to see Grayson,” Callum informed me, but all I could do was nod. Surely this was just some sort of sick prank.
