Chapter 3: Finally

1725 Words
Chapter Three Lucas' POV After I finished packing my things and reading the information about my new Identity and disguise; that Igor had given me with the picture of the princess that I'm supposed to assassin, and quickly left the house before the sunsets. I put all the things I need and might need in the carriage and drove the horse in the direction of the Kingdom. The carriage is small and had been unused in so many years, so it's old. I don't know where it's from, I just saw it already in the cabin that I was staying in and I stole the brown horse from a farm slightly away from the cabin. I found the cabin when I was wandering around the forest and I also found out that there was no one living in there, so I cleaned it up and used it as my own. I was 19 when I started forgetting the things in my past, but I sometimes got curious if I really forgetting it or I already forgot. But one thing is I'm sure of, there is something in me that is missing. A possession, a treasure, but I don't know what is it . . . or maybe who is it. But I am sure because I feel it in me My friend Igor; if he even is my friend, found me in the cabin and offered me a ' job,' and that was the time I figured out that I am good at fighting and . . . killing. I kill people, assassinate them. It always is the rich and influential people, they are the ones that got so many enemies and competitors that wanted them dead. And that's when I appear And I never thought of me being good, even in my forgotten past, because I wouldn't know how to fight that well if I don't do it before. But despite that, this girl that always appears in my nights of sleep is giving me strength and courage but also terror and frustration. Terror, because as long as I can remember, no one had ever made me feel that way, only her. Frustration, because I can't seem to remember her and as much as I want to forget her, I can't. It's infuriating and confusing I don't remember her face, her name, and what she is to me. I only saw her face when I dreamed of her but when I woke up, it's gone in my memory. Like a bubble, a smoke The only thing I remember is the ring, the emerald ring, and also her eyes. The ring reminds me of her eyes. So bright and shiny, that when I look at it, I feel so lost that the only thing I see was her. But who is she? Is she part of my past? She seems so important to me that even in sleep, she always hunted me. Sometimes I ask myself, is she the one that is missing in me, my possession and my treasure? But of course, the only thing that I can answer to that is. . . I don't remember ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ After riding for about six hours, I finally see the big Kingdom. It's large with pointed roofs and medieval but slightly modern style. It's beautiful I now understand why the people in the village were so enhanced by the Kingdom and not only bragging about it. On top of the tall wall are guards and warriors, that is guarding and watching the place. Beneath that is a big door with an iron fence on it and also three guards. Damn it, this Kingdom is so guarded Now it will be a little more difficult for me to do my job without being seen. I cursed under my breath The front guard notices me and I straighten up and prepare for my role still keeping my face stoic. I stopped the horse The guard, I presume is in charge steps forward. "Name?" he asked, arrogantly. I resisted the urge to roll my eyes at him. Typical Always the people with authority have the most arrogant and demanding personalities because they think they're in charge. Well, they are but they are not the boss and they are not the ones to dictate. I look him in the eyes with a hard expression and I noticed his left foot steps back a little, but to his credit, he doesn't back away. "Sir, your name?" I mentally scoff. They showed a brave look in physical appearance but on the inside, is a coward hiding. "Caelan Álvarez," I say gruffly. He checks the yellow paper in his left hand, and then looks at the other two guards in front of us and nodded his head, gesturing to open the door. "Have a nice visit sir," I heard him murmured but I already whipped the horse to start running again and just look forward ignoring him and the other two guards that bowed their heads at me. The big door opened and I feel my break catches in my throat. The inside of the castle is so different from the outside. It was more alive and . . . colorful. The people here inside are so modish and fancy. Just one look at them and you already know that they are from a wealthy family. Some females and other men look at me with a flirty look and confuse expression. I just ignored them and continue to ride the horse. After a minute, a man with brown hair and black eyes greeted me with a smile. He looked like he's in his mid-thirties and is wearing a professional royal suit. "Welcome monsieur, my name is Noah," he says with a French accent. I know that it is French because I already lived in Paris four years ago, I had a man to assassinate there. I gave him a curt nod He seems surprised by my lack of response but quickly recovered and continue his speech. "The Queen is very glad to hear that you are going to document the lifestyle here in the Kingdom." still no response from me. "Uhh. . . let's. . . let's go, this way. I'll show you to the room you'll be staying in." he said awkwardly. I rolled my eyes and followed him inside. I study every part of the place I see, to memorize it. Just to know all the good hiding places and the part where fewer people go. We are on the second floor when he stopped and opened a white door for me. I entered the room and just . . . blink. I'm not entirely surprised to see that the room is this big and well nice decorated. The beautiful exterior of the castle gave it all that to expect. "This is princess Sahara's old bedroom but the Queen transferred her to another and bigger room because of her forthcoming coronation." I tense and feel something I can't quite comprehend. My heart is beating fast just only hearing her mentioned. "And the other rooms are already occupied by other visitors because also of her coronation. We apologize for that." I turn around to look at him. "It's fine" I dismissed, he nods and smiles again. "I will be informing you of the day when you can ask the Queen about the questions you have. But now just enjoy your visit and feel free to wander around if it helps you with your documenting. I will leave you be now." I give him a curt nod and he turns around and closed the door gently, finally leaving me alone. I sighed I turn around again and face the whole bedroom. There's a big crystal chandelier on the middle of the ceiling and a white silk king-sized bed, the room also had an adjoining bathroom and an empty walk-in closet. I walked towards the bed and sit, waiting for some servants to bring my things in here. I lay on the bed and stretch my arms and legs, the smell of lavender with a scent that I don't recognize filling my nostrils. I inhale the smell and sighed. It's so intoxicating and so familiar. I think I smelled that scent before but not in the village or the cabin and I don't also remember that scent in any other country or place I had been before. And yet it still smells so familiar. Something caught my eye, causing me to sit up and look at the white wooden nightstand. Above it is a brown leather book that has a ' journal ' written on the front in cursive writing. I raised my right hand a reach for it. I study the journal and was about to open it when a loud knock is sounding from outside the bedroom I'm currently in. I sighed and stand up, walking towards the door, the journal still in my hands and I'm looking at it. Studying the elegant design of its cover. I open the door "Noah? I think I forgot my journ. . . " the voice trailed off. I froze just hearing the voice. It's strong but soft, like an angel that you didn't want to mess with. I slowly raised my head and the first thing I recognize is the eyes. Forrest green eyes that can stare into my soul. The eyes that's been hunting me in my dreams every night. I'm completely at loss for words, and also taken by surprise. I just look at her long, straight brunette hair and to her long eyelashes, and perfectly shaped eyebrows. Seductive pink full plum lips and those alluring beautiful forest green eyes that has a hidden fire in them that I'm willing to be burned. We just stare at each other, the only sound I can hear is the pounding of my heart that reached the pulse above my ears, and the only thing I see is her. And for the first time in so, so many years, the stoic expression that I'd always maintain every day, is broken by only just a stare at this girl in front of me. Princess Sahara Harimanne Lois Philopator The girl I'm supposed to assassin
