Chapter Seventeen

" I think you might be worth it..."                                                   -unknown FINNICK GREEN "Did we really have to go shopping for this," Kai grumbled beside me. Killian had asked me on that date and without even thinking I had agreed with so much excitement, Killian had graced me with that laugh of his that I got the courtesy to witness. I was a bundle of nerves just thinking of going on a date. It would be my first ever date and I didn't even know how I was meant to plan for something like this. I didn't know what to wear or what people did on dates all I knew was that it was tomorrow night at seven. That was another landmark, I had never really been out at such a late time so what would we really do? Killian hadn't elaborated on any of the questions I asked and when I woke up he was gone and I assumed he'd left through the window considering how my parents were up late playing board games telling from the victorious yelling my mom vocalized every few minutes. I was rummaging through my closet until I deemed my wardrobe unfit to go on a date with so I called up Kai who was reluctant to come with me on my shopping adventure but at the mention that I'd buy him ice cream he was on his way to pick me up. I shiver every time when I remember how my mom hollered for me to not lose my new friend, embarrassing me in front of the neighborhood girl who lived next to me. "This is my first date ever," I pouted at him. He groaned at my expression, swinging his arms at his side to express how annoyed he was before he led us into Aeropostale. There were mannequins every where and I shivered falling behind Kai with my eyes cautiously looking at the figures who weren't humans but shaped like one but couldn't move. They were just unnatural things. "C-can we shop s-somewhere else?" I call out to Kai. He's holding up a grey shirt with the sleeves cuffed when he turns to look at my stiff form that stands just two steps into the entrance of the bustling shop. He snickers to himself before turning to hang the top back onto the rack he found it on. "What's wrong?" He asks with amusement as he walks back towards me. "N-n-nothing," I turn quickly and walk out of the store, breathing the best I can. Kai jogs up and catches up to me, slinging his arm around my shoulder and bringing me closer to him. He squeezes me causing me to look up at him, his chocolate eyes seem to twinkle as he looks down at me and a smile plays at his lips. "You're scare of the mannequins aren't you?" he raises a knowing brow. "No!" I deny immediately. "Bolt, c'mon I'm like your best f—" he pauses. He squints his eyes before he brings his face closer to mine causing me to widen my eyes and back my face up. His eyes stray away from my face and land on my neck. He pulls at the collar of my shirt to expose the bruises that litter my neck due to Killian. I blush feeling caught for some reason at the look Kai gives me. "Shut the f**k up," Kai whispers to himself before mischief clouds his eyes,"Killian did this didn't he." It wasn't a question more of a knowing statement and yet I began to flounder and try to diminish his accusations. "N-no I fell!" I stumble on my lie. "On your neck," Kai laughs loudly. His loud laughing causes people to pass by us and give us looks as if our chatter was a bother to them. I blush under their gaze and pull away from Kai signaling for him to be quiet because people were looking. He glares and shoots everyone passing by us his middle finger to which they gasp and scowl at him before walking away even faster. "God Bolt, your lies are s**t," he shoots me a smile. I chew on my lip feeling embarrassed until Kai stretches his neck in order to crack the tension that must've been built there and that's when I see an identical bruise that mirrors mine on his neck. "You have one too!" I call out, touching the spot on his neck. His ears tint red as he swats my hand away and speeds up in his walking. "I burned myself," he mutters. "With?" I run to catch up with him. "With uh...a curling iron?" He mumbles, 's**t,' after realizing what he had said and the red in his ears traveled to his face. "You don't use—" "Lets go here," he cuts me off purposely and drags me into H&M. I go along with him deciding to drop it but finding myself immensely curious as to who had given him that mark on his neck. From what I knew he was straight but I don't frequently see him hanging around with girls, it seemed like he stayed away from girls altogether. The mark so clearly also resembled mine so it was definitely not a burn. Maybe he had a girl I didn't know about? I blinked out of my thoughts as Kai appeared in front of me with this black shirt that had white polka dots appearing everywhere as-well as dark black jeans with a rips on the knee area. "Those jeans are ripped. Should we inform an employee?" I look up at Kai. He gives me a blank stare before laughing. "Bolt, it's supposed to be ripped. Haven't you seen the style?" There's pure amusement in his eyes. "Wait, those are on purpose? I thought everyone was just ripping there jeans accidentally," I gaped obliviously. I flash back to all the times I've seen people in school with rips in their jeans. There was this one girl in particular who had these jeans ripped from the pockets all the way down to her ankles and they were just exposing her whole leg. I let out a long, 'oh,' now understanding why she was walking around as if it was normal to have your jeans completely ripped. It was the style. It still didn't make sense to me why it was style considering how usually things with rips meant they were old and gave the connotation that it needed to be thrown away. Jeans were perfectly fine without rips but I suppose this was what was 'hip' and 'happening' nowadays. Kai shoves the clothes into my arms. He jerks his head in the direction of the changing room and I get his message as I walk over and enter one of the rooms. I strip off what I have on and put on the clothes Kai had given to me, getting annoyed when my foot got caught in the rip in the black jeans. I finally had it all on and slipped back on my glasses that had fallen. I had to admit that what I had on looked good, it was unlike me but it looked nice. I began to fidget as I looked at myself. Was this too casual or too formal? I was unsure what kind of occasion I was dressing up for so I was concerned. What if I was underdressed and disappoint Killian by seeming too casual? Or what if I'm overdressed and he thinks I've done too much. I released a breath and do my breathing exercises before slipping off the clothes and putting my original ones on. I step out of the booth and catch Kai adjusting a black hat onto his head and checking his appearance in the mirror. I approach and he catches me coming and drops the hat onto a random shelf. "What do you think?" He asks me. "It's n-nice, really nice but—" "No buts, we're getting it before you back out," he snatches the clothes from me. He ducks in front of a lady who was about to get into the line. The woman scowls and I duck my head to avoid her stare as I stand beside Kai who gets the clothes rung up and slips my wallet from my back pocket to hand the cashier a total of $30.43. My clothes are bagged and just as were about to go, the lay behind us mutters,'no respect for adults brat.' Kai steps backwards twice and tilts his head so the woman looks at him. "Next time speak a little louder maybe what you said would've become more relevant then," he shoots a false smile before dropping it and grabbing my wrist to take us out of there. I quietly follow Kai who seems unfazed by the situation that just occurred. I was opening my mouth to bring it up but once we stepped into the food court and Kai's eyes landed on the ice cream shop his eyes shined with happiness. "I've come my love," he says awfully dramatically as he approaches the shop. He orders double chocolate with brownies and Oreos and he looks at me expectantly. I laugh quietly at his excitement, paying the lady the seven dollars and fifty two cents I owed. We leave and enter the parking lot and Kai drives me home. By the time I step out of his car my knees are shaking and I'm vowing to never drive with him again. His driving was even more horrendous at night, it was like he didn't know how dangerous cutting someone off was. I wave at him despite how shaken I am and open my door and go inside. I assumed my parents weren't home considering how there cars weren't in the drive way so I decide I'd eat a lunchable before I went up to go to sleep. It wasn't filling but I passed out easily after eating it. / / / 6:20pm, Saturday. I was wearing the outfit that Kai had picked out for me and I was just a bundle of nerves as I sat on my bed and willed myself to loosen up but every inch of my being wanted this to go well. Again, this was my first date so I didn't want things to go bad, I wanted it to go as well as possible. Traditionally, what I knew was that boys and girls went on dates but this was a date a between both males and I was freaking out. My parents were home and unaware that I was going out on a date, not because I was afraid to tell them but because they'd embarrassed me beyond belief. 6:45pm, Saturday. Killian<3: I'll be there in a few, Pup. I sat up from my laying position as I saw the notification blinking across my screen of the text Killian had sent. Picking up my phone I quickly responded to him with an, 'okay,' and resumed my nervous laying down and closing my eyes in order for time to pass by quicker. 6:58pm, Saturday. The door bell rang and I shot up from my bed and dashed downstairs and with the speed I was running at, the nickname Bolt now made sense. I got to the door and huffed out a breath from the running I had done and taking a deep breath, I opened the door and felt like the wind was knocked out of me. He just always managed to look good and it never failed to render me speechless whenever I saw him. It made me feel self conscious of myself as my cheeks turned pink and I shuffled in spot feeling lack luster in comparison. Killian bent forward and I felt his lips by my ear, his breath tickling my skin. "You look beautiful," he said softly before backing up with a satisfied smirk on his face at the the red that stained my cheeks. I was flustered by the compliment he paid me and I chewed on my lip before noticing the look Killian was giving me and releasing my lips immediately. "Sweetheart, who's at the door?" I hear my mom call from the kitchen. "I'm going out for a while!" I call out to her, shifting nervously at the look of Killians eyes roaming down on me. "With who?" I see her peek her head out of the kitchen. I turn and slightly close the door hiding Killian from my moms view. "A friend I really like," I tell her. She raises and eyebrow and opens her mouth to say something before I yelp out loud, feeling Killians hands on my backside. I flush and she looks at me quizzically but the look doesn't stay as my dad descends downstairs and peeks at Killian who immediately retracts his hands from my behind. My dad gives me a look and I plead with him with my eyes until he walks past me, ruffling my hair and grabbing my moms hand to lead her back to the kitchen. "He better be back home by ten," dad demands and I can tell he's talking to Killian from the hard tone his voice holds. "Yes sir," Killian replies and I quickly closed the door. Killian takes my hand in his and a smile plays at my lips as I shyly duck my head and sheepishly adjust my glasses better onto the bridge of my nose. He opens the car door for me and I slip inside, thanking him before he jogs over to the drivers side and starts the car before backing up and starting to drive. We're on the main road when I turn to look at him. "What're we going to do?" I ask him. "I'd say it's a surprise but that s**t is cheesy," he smiles over at me,"we'll do something you'll love." "Read?" My eyes brighten. His smile drops and he coughs turning back to the road. "Not exactly," he looks like he's reevaluating his life choices and I begin to laugh. "I was kidding," I tell him through my laughs and he sighs, pretending to be annoyed. We listen to music for a bit and I tell him about what I did yesterday with Kai before he parks on the curb. I look outside and all I see is grass and trees. I turn to Killian quickly, confusion clear as day in my eyes. "You'll see," he says simply. I hop out and Killian leaves from his side to come beside me. He takes out a scarf from his back pocket and comes behind me to slip it over my eyes. Surprised at the darkness but compliant, I let him and allow him to guide me to wherever we were going. We walk for a bit before I'm stopped and a gush of air hits me and I shiver. We continue to walk and I feel myself walking up steps, my feet hastily touching each step so I wouldn't fall and make a fool out of myself. We're not walking up steps anymore and we're on a flat surface when Killian stops me from walking any further. He slips the scarf from my eyes and a gasp leaves me as my eyes take in everything. We're in an empty room but there is this full wall of window that overlooks the dark night sky and you can just see everything. You can see the stars and the half moon that's in the sky, partially covered by clouds. I spot a telescope and immediately run over and slip off my glasses to place my eye on the smaller side of the device. I gap as I see all the planetary wonders of outer space from some cosmos to stars up close. I was bubbling with excitement and I had no words as I took my eyes away from the telescope to see a blanket with cider and chocolate covered strawberries; my favorite two things together. I was so overwhelmed and I didn't know what came over me as I rushed to Killian who looked unsure at everything and jumped in his arms. He caught me and chuckled, pure relief in his laugh. I held him tightly, my heart feeling heavy with joy. "Thank you!" I exclaimed. "The night hasn't even began, Pup," he said softly. This was pure bliss and I couldn't help myself as I pulled my head back and shyly kissed him. A grumble bubble in his throat as he deepened the kiss and I melted completely. I heard flashing and pulled away to look at the sky thinking they were shooting stars but the sky was empty minus the vast wonders of the night sky. "This is perfect," I smile at him. "You're perfect," he kissed my nose and I blushed.       This was too cheesy but I loved every bit of it.     Was this or was this not cute asf. WHY DID THIS STORY REACH 100k fjfjfkkfkf YOU GUYS HAVE ME SHOOK. THANK YOU SO MUCH.
