Twenty-Six
When class finished, I heard my name being called. “Miss James.” I glanced over to where Professor Malcolm was. Everly looked at me expectantly, knowing we had all of our classes together.
“Go on,” I urged, “save me a seat.”
Everly’s face scrunched up, and I could tell that she was clearly upset. But still, she left the classroom, and I was alone with the Professor.
“Your family wants to meet you,” Professor Malcolm said.
I blinked. “I thought my family was dead.”
“Most of your immediate family is. No one who could claim the throne. But you have some cousins that would like you to meet them. I wouldn’t presume to know what your plans are, but if you do plan to take back the throne then you’ll want their support.”
