Gable ended up being the one to take me to the Awakening celebration. He told me I could go home, but I didn’t want to be alone. I also didn’t really have a home anyway. Even though I knew home meant the Love family estate.
I thought we would be going to another estate, like the one that his family had. Instead, he took me to a farm. It was a large farm, on a sprawling ranch. But there was an old red barn, and a huge farm house with a wrap around porch.
The parking lot was filled with cars. There was loud, live music playing from the backyard. Drinking. And laughter.
It was an Awakening. A celebration for the loss of virginity. For adulthood. For love.
