I gasped for air and sat up immediately. I knew then that something had happened. I looked at myself and I was healed, no pain, no cuts or bruises. I touched my chest and nothing was on it. Not even a trace of Keiran’s blade. My shirt was the only thing that showed evidence of what happened.
“Seth!” I turned my head to Saga’s voice. He ran towards me and hugged me down to the ground.
“Oh, great gods! I thought I won’t see you anymore!” Saga sobbed on my neck.
“Where did you go your majesty? I tried looking for you in the city but I couldn’t find you.”
He pulled away and looked at me, “I was on the other side of the city helping my pack kill those rogue vampires. Then I felt this strong surge of power in the middle of the city. I tried to go there but before I could, a white light emerged from the sky. The next thing I knew I woke up in the forest all healed.
“Seraphim and Jinri, where are they?”
“Wait Seth. Before anything else, you need to know something. Something happened after that bright light in the sky. Something that I think Jinri did.”
“What do you mean?”
Saga and I teleported in the alley hiding ourselves. I didn’t understand why we had to hide until I saw what Saga pointed at me.
“Look, everything is back to normal in the city. It’s as if nothing happened. Like everything went back to what it was before the attack.”
I was wide-eyed and shocked, “how did this happen? Did the time turn back?”
“I don’t know. No traces of everything, no rogue vampires, no blood, no dead bodies, not even Keiran. It’s like nothing happened.”
“Jinri did something. We need to find Seraphim. We need to know what Jinri did.”
“That’s the problem Seth. I can’t find Jinri. I can’t smell him anywhere. When I woke up, I was in the forest, and I saw Hobbs a few feet away from me. Then I tried looking for you and found you on that cliff.”
“Hobbs? Is he okay?”
“Yeah, he was still unconscious when I left him at the palace.”
“The palace, how is it? Are they all okay?”
“That’s another thing. The palace looked exactly how it was, as if nothing happened. Like we all went back in time. The only difference is, it’s quieter and better. And there is something you have to see.”
We teleported on the cliff where Saga found me. And I was more shocked than what I found in the city.
“The forest. It’s not dark anymore.” I muttered.
“It was the first thing I noticed when I woke up somewhere. The sun couldn’t get through the tall and thick trees and leaves of the dark forest before. But now it’s no longer gloomy. Not an ounce of darkness surrounds it anymore. It’s so bright now.”
“What did Jinri do? What could he have done?”
“I can’t find his scent, so is Seraphim. We need to know where he is. Can you reach out to him through his mind?”
/My king?... My king, where are you? / he was not answering.
I looked at Saga and tried again /Your majesty? Seraphim… Your majesty… /
“I can’t find him. I can’t find his thoughts…” I suddenly got worried.
“Let’s separate. Find Seraphim and I’ll find Jinri… Since I got my powers back for an unknown reason, I’ll track him down with his aura.” Saga said.
“Love…” I called him before he left.
“Yeah?” I walked towards Saga and pulled him into a kiss.
He grabbed my arms and pulled me tightly, he moaned in my mouth and kissed me making me feel he missed me so much. I let go and leaned our foreheads together.
“Amidst all of this, I’m glad you’re okay. Be careful and don’t let your guard down. We don’t know what really happened. Stay safe. I love you.”
“I will. I love you.” Saga kissed the tip of my nose and that made me smile.
Saga leapt down the slope of the cliff and disappeared at the foot of the mountain. I sighed deeply while looking at the forest. A lot of questions are going through my mind. But one thing is certain, something happened between Jinri and Seraphim.
“Where are you, my king? And what did your mate do?” I muttered.
*
(Present time)
Seraphim sat quietly on his throne after hearing Seth’s story. He stood up and sighed deeply.
“I will visit him. I need to see him again.”
Seth and Saga stood quietly and just bowed.
Seraphim materialized in front of the building where Jinri works. He waited for him to come out.
“Your majesty?” Hobbs stood behind him.
“Anything new?”
“None, my king. Lord Jinri does the same thing that he does every day since before. Everything was the same as it was.”
Seraphim sighed quietly, “go home. I’ll stay with Jinri.”
Hobbs bowed and left. Just then Jinri got out of the building. It took a lot of Seraphim’s strength not to teleport in front of him and hug him tight. He was longing for him.
“Jinri, what happened? Have I hurt you so badly that you wanted to just completely remove me from your memory?”
It’s as if Jinri heard him when he turned his eyes in Seraphim’s direction. They stared at each other and he knew then that something happened to Jinri that day.
“Someone did this to you. It wasn’t your doing my love. Someone made you forget me…”
Seraphim balled his fist from anger and bowed to find out who did this to his mate.
