Chapter 9

{Victoria} "You know, I'm having a difficult time trying to understand why those triplets are practically choosing an omega over YOU! I mean, there is biology behind the attraction between Alphas and omegas but I mean you literally look like a goddess!" Vanessa says with a mouth full of pasta. "So I've been told," I reply with mock enthusiasm remembering Ace's words the other day. How could I have been so foolish and fall into his honeyed words? My inner fox and wolf melted at his words and I couldn't find any words to speak. My hands ball into fists in pure anger. Shouldn't they know never to anger a wolf? Much less a fox. We are quite short-tempered. He sugared me up all to leave me with a sour taste. What a disappointment. From now on, if they wish to actually wish to accept me as their mate and leave that omega then they'll come to me. I'll no longer come to them. It's about time that I put my foot down. And the triplets had the audacity to have Ashlyn show up to the archery tournament all marked with hickey's- labeling her as theirs. As much as I didn't want to admit it, I craved from their marks to be all over me but I'd rather die than say it aloud. "You have naturally red lips and bright red hair! I'd die for that!" Vanessa exclaimed shoving a meatball in her mouth. Some would say she looks like a pig eating but if you truly know her she looks plainly cute and goofy. "If I was a guy and your mate, hell, I would've marked you on the first day!" I rolled my eyes but a smile crawled it's way to my lips. "Your lips are perfectly fine how they are and your hair in the color of a raven. I mean, c'mon, rosy pink lips and dark hair? Awesome combo." She grinned with pride. I wasn't lying; Vanessa was a dark-haired beauty. "Okay, enough about looks, when do you start your internship at a company?" She pushed her empty plate aside and sipped her water. "I'm starting at Connor Marketing Co. Precisely tomorrow at 8:00 a.m. which is Saturday." "Great! I'm interning at the same company and I start at the same time as you. You see, fate has been on our sides" She smiled. Being the daughter of a Beta, she has no fear of Alphas.  "Well, fate is not on our side now because we have to go to the sixth period. You have Microeconomics and I have Macroeconomics." I point out, standing up from our lunch table. We had decided to stay in for lunch because they were serving spaghetti and meatballs. "You just had to ruin the fun," she groans and reluctantly stands up. We make our way out of the lunchroom and headed off towards different directions. She has to go to the 20th floor and I go to the 25th floor. I traveled to the elevator but had to pause at the front entrance front desk to retrieve a file for Professor Valderick. Yes, I had him again for the 6th period but he had asked me to come early to class to give him the file I was currently picking up. "Excuse me, Miss? Hi, I'm here to pick up Professor Valderick's file." The secretary looked up quickly; sensing my Alpha aura. "Oh! O-of course, let me look for it." She ducked her head below the desk and began to rummage around. Soon, my senses became alert and my stomach churned. I knew who was near, or rather who currently was present in the same area as me. O turned to my right and found the triplets and Ashlyn walking in. I had no doubt that they had all went out for lunch. She was pushing Brett's stroller. I had given Rosalie to Lucas during the fourth period. He wasn't feeling well so he took both girls back to his dorm.  My gaze turned stone-cold when their eyes connected with mine. Ace's eyes glazed over with lust, no doubt recalling our heated kiss earlier. I merely blinked at them until Brett's fussing diverted their attention. My eyes softened when I saw him. He was like a little bean so he looked excruciatingly adorable. The secretary cleared her throat nervously. "Here you go, Alpha Victoria." She handed me a manilla folder then beckoned me to come closer so she could whisper in my ear. I knew the triplets were watching me. Who could forget their penetrating gaze? It still made me weak to my knees but I made sure to hide it. I leaned in so she could whisper in my ear. "Alpha Victoria, someone is here to see you. It involves that file. The Professor told me to tell you to give it to that person. Meet up with that person at Study hall." Something seemed off. "Who is it?" She hesitated for a second but covered it up. "Your...Your...You brother!" She said it a little to loudly but my eyes widened. Liam? Why is he here? Something was definitely wrong here. I narrowed my eyes at the secretary who squirmed. I analyzed her before determining that she was lying. I wasn't naive. I put on my best-convinced face. Internally, I wished to growl at her and choke her until she told me the truth. I looked back at the triplets and Ashlyn my eyes flashed red but only Ace noticed. Quickly, I turned away and semi-jogged to study hall. But the corridor became dark. My suspicions were only empowered when a scent that didn't belong to my brother hit my nose.  Of course, the secretary had tried to lead me to a trap. Being an Alpha-female, I was a victim of a lot of assassination attempts. "Come out, come out, where ever you are," I taunted. "What a clever Alpha-female," a sharp voice came through me. I felt cut by every single word the voice said which was odd. "Who are you?" I growled intimidatingly. "I thought you should know me by now, after all, I've been known for killing Alpha-females and female hybrids." I bit my lip to keep from gasping. He was the notorious and infamous Arail Swain; killer of the daughters of Alphas. "I assume you have come to kill me?" "Well, of course, why else would I be here? There are only five Alpha daughters left and 7 female hybrids left as well. You and Isabella are part of that majority." "If you as so touch one strand of Bella's hair then I will rip you to shreds!" I threatened but he only chuckled. "All those other girls I have killed were just like you; strong and powerful but in the end, they were buried 6 meters in the earth." "You can try but I have to warn you, you won't succeed," I smiled annoyingly. This seemed to irk him because he threw the first punch and landed it. I growled at myself for being distracted and cupped my cheek. "Strange. The others had the same reaction." He grinned but I threw my leg out, trying to trip him. He merely stepped over my leg and threw me up against a wall. My eyes flashed red; a sign I was going to summon an ability. Arail saw this and his grin faltered he picked me up by the neck. I clawed at his hands, trying to break free. s**t. He's smarter than I have imagined. My red hair fell like a curtain over my head as I began to see stars.  "Don't you fall asleep on me now," he said tauntingly.  "I wouldn't dream of it." I grit my teeth but my vision began to darken slightly.  "Maybe this would wake you up." He took a step back, holding me by the neck and then sent me flying into the wall. The wall broke and I went straight through three walls. My body finally flung onto a carpeted floor as I sat up immediately. Damnit! He's using adrenaline pills. I was sitting up but my back was bent so I fell back down. I coughed up blood repeatedly and my head rolled back. My eyes caught sight of Arail who was walking right through the holes my body created. I cringed when I sat up, trying to gain my composure but Arail grabbed my neck and held me up. My arms flailed and I hated that I looked like a defenseless kitten. "You still seem to be a bit droopy-eyed." "f**k you," I spat and summoned the metal in the walls. His eyes flashed in fear and I smirked at his reaction but he took action quicker than I expected.  "Sweetie, that wall is just waiting to embrace you." He laughed and flung me towards the wall. My strong body broke through the cement and more bones broke. I felt all of my ribs collapse and blood dripping onto my face. Scratched covered my bare legs as I landed on my ass and slammed against a desk. I screamed in pain when Arail dragged a knife through my thigh. Blood was everywhere. I desperately tried to summon for any ability but I simply was too weak and broken to do so. I screamed again when he took hold of my legs and dragged me upright. My thigh was burning up and I felt more muscles tearing up. My half-dead body sagged against Arails body. I saw he was aiming his knife towards my abdomen. Anger shot up through my body. He wanted to finish it all off and declare my death as another victory to his list.  I managed to grasp at the metal of a pipe and discreetly snaked it up on his neck. His eyes once again betrayed him as my metal formed into a snake, tightening on his neck. But determination remained in his features and his knife pierced my flesh.  My metal on his neck loosened but with the little bit of energy, I tightened it once more. At this rate,  he would die first. My sweat mixed in with blood hit my tongue. The metallic taste just angered me more. The fact that managed to make me bleed. But he once again, he struck me with his knife. I staggered back and slumped down on the desk. Arail inhaled deeply as he regained his oxygen. The i***t.  "You'll never manage to take my life," I snarled but I felt my life force droop away. He smiled demonically. "Then I'll just have to make sure you die." He approached me once more and began to stab my stomach repeatedly. I screamed as I felt my insides being torn apart. He parted from me slowly, taking in his victory. I heard the stomping of feet approach and he scurried off, sparing me no glance.  My body stopped leaning against the desk and I sprawled on the carpet floor. My blood poured out of me, staining the carpet and surrounding me. Blood dripped from my mouth slowly and the gash on the side of my face burned. I reached out to try and grasp anything but remained empty-handed. That is until a scream tore from someone's lips.  Four figures came into view. A blurry Ashlyn, Alec, Ace, and Asher. Pain jolted into me from my wrist. The bastard had left his signature engraved in my wrist while expertly cutting my veins.  "Arail Swain was here," Ashlyn gasped and cupped her mouth to stop her from vomiting at the sight of my blood-splattered everywhere. Arail had made sure that my blood marked every wall. Asher took me in his arms but I screamed in pain. He immediately let go and caressed one of my uninjured cheeks.  "GET SOMEONE IN HER NOW!" Asher yelled. Ashlyn obeyed and jolted off. I felt my life force slip away like my blood. "SHE'S LOSING TOO MUCH BLOOD!" Alec screamed. My vision became spotted and maybe this was my end. Maybe I was meant to die at the hands of a murderer. I was foolish to forget about Arail Swain. Either way, I would die surround by my mates. "Victoria?" Ace whispered. My eyelids closed immediately and my arms fell limp. "VICTORIA!"
