Small family gathering/family drama

The next following day, I woke up super early, so early I woke up before my mates did. When I looked at my phone it was 5:30am. The sun was starting to come up. The best time of the day was the sunrise.
I got dressed into some sweats and a t-shirt and slid on my slippers then went downstairs. A few of the omegas were coming in from the back door. The bowed their heads at me.
"Good morning alpha."
"Good morning." I said, as I reached over to the coffee pot and turned it on. "I have some family from another pack coming over today. Make sure this place looks spotless please." I ordered.
"Yes, alpha." They both said.
"Is the Luna and beta awake sir?" One of them asked.
"No, so be quiet when you go to our floor." I said.
They nodded and went to what they got to do. As they left, I took out from food to make a quick small breakfast for those that lived here. As it was all done, I set it aside so I can start on making stuff for tonight. I usually have my cooks do this but I want to make it special from myself.
When Oliver told me that uncle Parker and them was coming, I had made a list for the cooks to get me last night. And told them if they got all the things I need off my list, I'd let them have the day off today. To spend it with their families. If they want to come over and help that was on them but I didn't want them to do so. I just gave them the choice.
I had a huge pot of water boiling for the Mac and cheese, a pot of water boiling for the eggs, I had the oven preheating getting it ready for the hams. And the pies that were premade already, just had to put in the oven once the hams were done.
Once the oven was ready, I placed the hams in there and let them cook for about an hour or two until I know it's done. While that was cooking, I had to peel potatoes and get them all boiled and ready for homemade mashed potatoes. As I was peeling away, one of the cooks came into the back door with a few bowls in their hands.
"Good morning alpha, you've been busy?" The cook had said.
"Yes, Ma'am I have." I said as I got up to check the boiling water for the mac and cheese.
"Here I'll do the potato's while you do that." The cook had said.
"Okay." I said as I poured the Mac in the water. "You know you didn't haven't to come help me this morning." I told her.
"I know alpha. It's just that I don't have anyone to spend the holidays with and you guys are like family to me." She had said. "I've been in this pack since your mom joined the pack, she saved me and I repay the favor by standing by yourself and helping you and your family."
"Do you miss her as much as I miss her?" I asked her as I was storing the mac.
"Yes, sir. She was the sweetest person I've ever met. I just wish what had happened, didn't happened to her." She told me.
"Me too. I wish she was here with us. Especially to help out. Nana is driving me crazy on all of this." I told her.
She smiled at me before we went back to what we were doing. It was just us working together in the kitchen til the doorbell rung. I washed my hands and went to the door. When I opened it, it was my uncle Parker and his family.
My cousin alpha Javier, leaned in for a hug as my uncle Parker had patted me on the shoulder. His mate, Zo just smiled a little and nodded her head. Even though she can be a problem, she still has to deal with me not just because we're family but I'm the alpha king.
"Welcome uncle Parker, alpha Javier, Luna Zobrina. Where's Joey?” I asked
“He’s on the phone talking to his girlfriend.” Uncle Parker said.
“He found his mate?” I said.
“No,” Zobrina had said cruelly.
“He don’t wanna wait for his mate. Like we’re supposed.” Parker said.
“Of course like father like son. Because you didn’t wait for your mate either.”
“Hey, I said drop this. And I meant it. I made a mistake long time ago but I don’t regret it because I got a great son out of it. You didn’t want for your mate either.”
“Yeah, but I didn’t get pregnant did I, no I didn’t .” Zo had said.
“Don’t talk to my son like that.” My nana had came in and spoken. “No one waits for their mates, I didn’t wait. But I didn’t also have s*x with him either. But this isn’t the time nor the place to talk about this. So drop it. Or you can go back home.” She told Zo.
“Yes, please just stop talking about it.” Parker said at the same time Joey came inside.
“What’s everyone talking about?” He asked.
“They’re talking about you again, brother.” Javier said putting his arm around his shoulder. “Your mother doesn’t approve what you’re doing but the rest of the family does.”
“What? Why wouldn’t you just be happy for me. I’m your baby boy, dad’s okay for me.”
“That’s because this whole damn family didn’t wait for their mate.” Zo started saying. “I wanted you to be the 1st to change that but I was wrong.”
“Actually, I waited but hid it from my family. Now I have two beautiful mates.” I had said.
“Mom if you don’t like it, you can go back home.” Joey said.
“I don’t like it but I ain’t going home either.” Zo said.
“I think it’s for the best that you do Zobrina. This is my family and I don’t want it to get any worse than it has. We’ll talk about this later at home. Just go.”
“Parker?”
“As alpha king, I order you to go back home and wait for your family.” I ordered her.
Zobrina gasped from me ordering her to leave. She took one look at her mate then walked out of my house with her head hung low from being ordered. Joey, walked over to his father and side hugged him as Javier closed the door. We all walked into the living room and sat down.
As we sat down both my mates came down the stairs to visit. Phil sat on the arm rest next to me and Bailey sat on my lap, leaning against Phil as well. We all talked about what just happened but we all said what we have done was for the greater good. As we was talking, the cook had came in and bowed her head at all of us.
“Alpha sir, your breakfast is getting cold.”
“Oh s**t, I forgot I made a big breakfast for us this morning while tonight’s dinner is cooking.” I said as I stood me and Bailey up.
“You made breakfast?” Bailey asked.
“Yes, I did.”
“You haven’t done that in years.” Phil said.
“Well I did. I started making dinner for tonight but the Maria came in and helped me.” I said as we all went into the kitchen. “Maria, I want you to stay with us. Your family, like a 2nd mom to me so please sit and eat with us.” I told her.
“Thank you sir.”
I nodded at her as she made her own plate after all of us. She sat across from my nana as we all ate. She talk to nana like she’s known her for a very long time, like they were already family.
That’s what this was all about is family. It doesn’t matter if your with mate or not or even with a friend, we’re all together as one.
A few moments later, the door bell had rung, and I got up to go get it. It was Zobrina.
“I’m sorry. I don’t know what I was thinking. I’ve been sitting in the car thinking what to do and I just want to be with my family.”
“It’s not me that you should say sorry to. It’s your mate and your son. Before I came out, both me and my mate were dated other people but in the end we came out and the one I dated with I’m happily married to and have the best children with.” I told her as I put my arm on her shoulder.
“I’m sorry I broke your order.”
“Technically, I didn’t order you order you. I just told you what to do without my command. So let’s go have breakfast.” I said as we walked back into the kitchen.
Parker and Joey looked up from their plate and looked at Zobrina and I. Parker got up and walked over to Zobrina and kissed her. Zobrina hugged her mate as I went to my seat and kissed my mates.
“Sit, eat. There’s plenty more where they came from.”
“Where is your children alpha Devin?” Zo asked.
“Asleep of course. They had a long night the past few days so I’m letting them sleep in til around noon.”
She nodded and started eating off her plate that Parker got her. Joey put his hand on his mother’s arm and smiled. She leaned in and kissed his forehead.
This was a happy moment for a happy family. Even with a little drama here and there. Who doesn’t have drama in their life. It’s what makes it better and helps us get stronger. They say what doesn’t kill you makes you stronger.
