“damn it!” Due cursed. A raindrop hit the bridge of her nose causing her to faintly shiver. Slowly but without ceasing, the sound of the rain falling intensified, and by the time she made her way to her parent's house, she was half-drenched and slightly shivering. The grey clouds that gathered in the sky as it rained were pretty in her eyes, but she didn’t fancy the onslaughter of the raindrops that hit her like a whip. There were always lingering mixed feelings she had about rainy days. She loved the smell of the wet ground when it rained but hated the rain itself. Still, wasn’t it raining a bit too much lately? The door closed with a bang behind her, “mom!” She called out, “In the kitchen, honey!” With her clothes dripping from the rain, she made a beeline for the kitchen, taking her shoes off and walking in barefoot. Her hair was sticking to her back. Behind the kitchen counter was a relatively petite woman. Tala was every bit as beautiful as her daughter. “Mmmm..” Due groaned with a smile on her lips, leaning down to wrap her arms around her shoulders. The smell of chicken from the oven made her drool. Tala chuckled, “Give me some space. I’m not taking that from you and your father. And go get changed, you’re wetting my kitchen floor.” She clicked her tongue, pushing Due back with her butt. “You love it.” Due giggled, gulping down a bottle of water she took from the fridge behind her. Due barely had any resemblance to her mother, save for her pitch-black hair. She was the spitting image of her father. Whenever she remembered how her mate teased her for birthing a sister for him, Her mother always felt that it was a pity she couldn’t bare more children, she’d have loved one that looked like her, then she could tease him too. “I got it. Where’s dad?” Due leaned on the counter, watching her mother continue cooking. She left home for an apartment when she turned 18, It’s been seven years since then, and although she liked living alone, she still came over to eat and pack some food to her house. It had to be said, that although she could cook for herself, no one was as lazy as she was in the kitchen. And one might even call her stingy when it came to her finances. “In the study. You better clean up before you go up, young lady.” “I got it. I got it.” Thunder sounded, making her ears ring. Looking out the window, the sky was dark although it was barely noon. “That’s weird, mom.” Tala kept sniffing the air around Due with a scrunched-up face and look. Tala Cathwulf had one of the best noses in the pack. Due liked to justify the reason for her delicious foods to her extraordinary sense of smell. “Who’s shirt it that?” She asked with a raised brow and her lips quirked up in a grin. “I don’t think I know this scent.” Due was by no means a virgin, She knew that. Although she hadn’t chosen a mate yet despite all the men fawning over her. Still, she was relatively conservative with whomever she slept with. This was all the more reason why Tala was shocked to see her in a man’s shirt and smell their scent on her. Despite her indifference and rolling of her eyes, her cheeks still heated up. “Please, mom!” She groaned in desperation but the grin still remained on Tala’s innocent face. “It was just a question... Or do you have something to hide?” she raised a brow. Tala couldn’t really be blamed, she had only one child, and that was a daughter who seemed uninterested in settling down despite her age. Due ignored her and narrated everything that happened to her, she listened attentively and continued to cook. “So that’s what happened.” Her brows knitted together after Due was done telling her everything from the rogues, to Lyall, omitting only the embarrassing conversations. “I thought it was weird to have so many rogues together like that. Especially on the neutral lands.” Due voiced her thoughts. Tala’s frown remained on her lips but she didn’t say anything for a minute. “It’s weird indeed. I’m just glad no one was severely wounded.” She said with a tender smile. “Now hurry up, Your dad wants to speak to you.” Tala literally chased her out of the kitchen screaming at her to take a shower and change her clothes first.
