Up the stairs to her right, Due entered her old room. It was as clean as if she was still living there. She might as well still be with the how many time she came there. She pushed her wet hair back with her fingers and entered the bathroom, turning on the lights.
Then took off the shirt she was wearing, the almond and spicy scent in it tingled her nose making her take in lungfuls of the scent.
She took off her underwear and stood naked in her bathroom as she dried herself with a towel instead, opting to take a shower at her place since almost all of the products she used were there.
“It does smell… nice” She muttered to herself with her eyes close. Aside from the fact that Lyall smelled good, she had to admit that he looked just as good too with his bright auburn hair and vivid green eyes. His body was nearly perfect too. Still, she found him to be ungrateful and a bit cold sometimes.
Due put those thoughts aside and put on black shorts with a big T-shirt then headed to her father’s study on the same floor.
She could hear him talking to someone before she even entered to see him talking on his phone.
Lowell looked up from the papers that were spread messily on his desk when Due entered.
“How many?” He asked, clearly speaking to whoever was on the phone. Due stepped into his outstretched arms, receiving a kiss on her forehead before taking a seat.
Lowell sighed, rubbing his temple with a frown, “I’ll call you back... Better yet, come see me in an hour or two. And find out how many there were.”
He ended the call with that. Lowell Cathwulf was a beautiful male specimen. Despite his age, he still looked as charming as ever with his hazel eyes brimming with life and vigor. Despite his somehow slender and almost fragile-looking figure, anyone who had ever fought with him could attest to his strength.
“Tough life.” Due teased with a smile. Managing a pack as big as theirs would by all means take a toll on someone no matter how talented or good they were with their responsibilities. And it was obvious that Lowell need a vacation more than ever.
“You won’t be saying that in a few years.” Lowell grinned. Due was already 25 years old. Normally one would have taken over the pack by this age, but her parents wanted to give her more time to enjoy her youth and prepare better before taking on that responsibility. They were not too old so they could still hold on a bit more.
Although the main reason why she still hadn’t been given the reigns of the pack was that some pack elders were against having a female alpha. However, they couldn’t deny the pure alpha blood that flowed through her veins and could only resort to trying to have her get mated before taking hold of the pack.
This was obviously a ploy to have one of their own kids mated with her and cease the pack. But Due was not one to be bullied, and they were well aware of that.
Besides, It wasn't as if their opinions made much of a difference. Lowell was merely giving them some respect because they had been in the pack since his father's rule and had helped him a few times when he took hold of the pack at a tender age.
“I still have time.” She laughed.
Alpha Lowell had already gotten his hands on the information on what happened when she went out. Still, she told him everything in detail. Lowell didn’t look surprised when he heard of the rogues.
The greatest threat to a pack apart from other packs was rogues.
“You managed to hold your own, that’s good.” He nodded, complimenting her on her fight with the rogue leader.
“But it’s not enough. I should have easily taken him down."
He smiled at his daughter who was reproaching herself. He knew how dedicated she was and how hard she trained. She was strong, and that was without a doubt. But she was stronger in terms of speed than raw strength.
“Then you simply work harder.” He smiled, petting her head, saying nothing about the foreign scent on her.
“After all, strength is built progressively.” He advised to which she nodded with a frown.
“Now, about that boy.” He stroked his chin thoughtfully. He was grateful for Lyall’s help, but he was still a stranger in his territory, it never hurt to be careful.
“Why don’t you bring him over tomorrow.” He added to which Due nodded. The two chatted together for a while. And although he didn’t say anything to her about the rogues and how or why they were grouping so near the pack, he promised to tell her when he had sufficient information, saying that the same situation was happening with the other packs.
