Chapter 4

“STOP!” Stephan shouted as he used wind telekinesis to remove his brother’s body from Rose’s. He had watched enough of the fight while trying his hardest not to attack his brother but he couldn’t just silently watch his brother kill the woman he loved. It was the first time in his life that he had wanted to attack someone so badly. He quickly ran towards Rose and covered her naked body with his jacket. Alexander quickly shifted back. He wasn’t going to let his brother ruin his chances of killing. He tried using his power on him but realized that it was still blocked. He groaned and ran towards his brother. He was about to attack but was suddenly pushed back again. This time however, it was their father who attacked him. “That is enough.” He calmly said as he walked towards the two angry brothers. “If you lay one finger on her, I will banish you. Understood?” Alexander froze. Banishment from the family meant banishment from the werewolf community—he’d have to live the rest of his life as a rogue: one of the dirtiest creatures of the night. Unlike what the stories told, being a rogue didn’t mean you were evil or that you didn’t have a pack. Being rogue in the real world meant that your human form and your wolf intertwine and become one. Most of them either had wolf bodies and human heads or wolf heads and human bodies. Although they were able to come out during the day, they couldn’t because of the community that they lived in. A community where humans didn’t know of the other living beings on their land. It would cause chaos if a human spotted a rogue. Although rogues weren’t evil in the literal sense that they wanted to be; they were still evil in the sense that they had to be to survive. A lot of people call vampires, a non-existent creature of the dead, a bloodsucker. Little do they know that those vampiric stories derived from people who have spotted a rogue sucking on the blood of a child. In order for a vampire to survive, they need to drink the blood of a virgin. In the society that they live in lately, there weren’t many virgins existing, hence they had opted for children. Innocent and angelic children were being sacrificed in order for them to stay alive. That was something Alexander couldn’t accept. He may be considered evil amongst many, but he had a soft spot for children. No matter what had happened, he couldn’t be banished. “I asked if you understood.” “I understand.” Alexander said as he slowly retreated. He was angry and he knew that if he stayed any longer he would attack the next person who said a word. Rose’s body was on fire. Literally. She quickly opened her eyes and sat up. She immediately regretted her actions as her whole body was aching. “You’re awake!” Someone shouted from behind her. She groaned at the loud noise. Her head was pounding and the loud voice of whoever was behind her was making it worse. “Oh, please excuse my rudeness.” She said as she walked out from behind Rose. “I’m Wendy, the Royal household’s doctor. You’ll see me around a lot.” She cheerily smiled. She was a very young and beautiful woman. Rose was surprised that she was a doctor at such a young age. She looked no older than Rose herself. “Why is it so hot?” “You’re sleeping on a portable heat bed. Wolves need to be warm in order to recover quickly. You’ll be fully healed in a few hours.” She stated matter-of-factly. “I feel like death.” She groaned as she slowly lay back in the bed. Wendy laughed as she turned the heat up a little higher. Stephan went to see how Rose was doing to find her fast asleep. There was only a slight trace of a bruise left on her face, but overall she looked a lot better. “She’s fine.” Wendy confirmed for him. “She can leave once she wakes up.” Stephan nodded and went to sit beside her on the bedside chair. “You don’t have to wait.” Wendy said as she watched him stroke the sleeping woman’s hair. She was confused at his actions. From what she knew, Rose was married to Alexander, yet Stephan acted more like her husband than the said alpha did. Stephan didn’t even acknowledge the doctor’s words. He was too busy analyzing Rose’s face for any trace of scar or bruise he hadn’t noticed before. He was glad when he couldn’t find any. He finally turned to the doctor and asked: “Is Alex alright?” Alexander wasn’t as hurt as Rose was, but he had a cracked nose and some deep scratches on his body. “He’s fine. He has already healed. Thank god this car crash wasn’t serious! She only had a few broken ribs and a broken nose." Stephan stared at her. Since when was a few broken ribs and a broken nose not serious? He wondered to himself. “Speaking of the car crash, I saw the car they were driving earlier. Why does it look so fine? I guess cars heal faster than wolves these days.” She laughed. Earlier that night, Julian had erased everyone’s memory of the fight. Alexander and Rose needed to look like a happy and loving couple for the wolf community to trust them as the next Royal Alpha and Luna. They would be over if word got out that they were trying to kill one another. Stephan forced a laugh back. Alexander stared at his father. There was no one in the world he hated more than his father at that moment. “It’s the only way to stop the gossip.” “You can manipulate them to think otherwise.” “I will not use my power on something that could be fixed without the use of elements.” Julian calmly stated as he turned the page of his book. “I can’t even stand being in the same building as her. How do you expect me to stay with her in such a small cottage?” “You should’ve thought of that before you disappeared on your wedding night.” He flipped another page. “This book is so clichéd! It’s the same possessive alpha rejecting his mate again. These women tend to be obsessed with possessive alphas. If you ever want to impress a woman, act possessively. She’ll magically fall in love with you.” He asked as he threw his book across the room. He picked up the next book and turned to the first page. Alexander angrily sighed. How can his father be so calm and collected in such a situation? He was forcing his son to go on a honeymoon with a woman he wanted dead! “Oh sorry. I forgot you were married.” Julian said as he stood up. “Jokes aside son, you are going and that is final. You will not return until she is pregnant nor will you kill her. Kill her and you’ll be banished. I hope you understand.” Alexander was fuming. His father just didn’t understand that this situation wasn’t a game. How could he expect them to live under such a small cottage in the middle of the woods together and still be alive? Not to mention not being able to return until she carried his pups. The thought of her carrying his pups disgusted him. He had just killed her brother a few hours ago and his blood was boiling to kill her too. How could he even think about touching her in any other way? “Edward and Sasha are most likely getting your bags ready so all you have to do is enjoy the ride." When he saw that his son wasn't making a move to leave, he added: "That is all. You may leave now.” Although Julian may have seemed like he was forcing his son into doing something that he’d regret in the future, Julian saw the fierceness in Rose’s eyes. He automatically realized that she would be the best Royal Luna to have for the next generation. He also knew that if Alexander stopped being so stubborn, he’d also start to see her in a different light. Julian knew his son. He knew what he liked and what he disliked. Rose had many qualities that his son would have liked. With Alexander out of the way, there were only two problems left. First was Julian’s second son, Stephan. Julian could tell that Stephan had feelings for Rose without having to read his mind. It was clear as day. In fact, he was positive that his son was in the infirmary right this moment watching over the girl. Second was Rose herself. Not only did Alexander kill her brother, but he also mockingly beheaded him and gave it to her on a silver platter. Literally. Julian was sure that the hatred Rose had for Alexander was a hundred times stronger than the hatred Alexander had for her. This was the reason he had planned this getaway for the two newly weds. During this time the two married couple would get to know each other. Although they might want to kill each other, Alexander wouldn’t because of the fear of banishment and she won’t be able to because he’s stronger than her by a lot. So they had two options. They would either spend the rest of their lives together in that small cottage or they would return with a future heir on its way. While they were away, Julian would spend some time with his younger son and try to introduce other woman to him. He knew that his son was sensitive, but he didn’t think he loved Rose enough to do something crazy. Julian thought that it would be best to help his son get over Rose and find another woman. Rose woke up with a sudden start. She realized that there was a storm outside and this scared her. She had always been scared of thunder. Just the thought of it brought shivers up her spine. “Are you alright?” A voice softly asked from beside her. She turned sideways to see Stephan looking at her with narrowed eyes. She stretched a bit before answering. “I’m fine.” “Are you still angry at me?” Angry? She asked herself. What reason did she have to be angry? And that was when all the events of the past few days came crashing onto her. Her eyes widened when she remembered her brother’s dead and dull eyes looking up at her. She finally broke down. All the thoughts and feelings she had been holding back the past few days hit her like a brick. And it hurt. It hurt a lot.
