~KELLAN~
“…the Alpha is cursed.” That was what I heard that made me halt beside the front door.
That was a secret, how could they be aware of it?
If the workers in the pack could talk about it, does that mean everyone in the pack was aware of it.
I shook my head, it can’t be.
I moved towards the direction where I heard their voice.
They froze when they sensed my presence. They titled their heads downward.
“Alpha.”
“Where did you hear that from?” I asked, and leaned against the wall opposite them.
They sputtered, and ended up saying nothing.
I scoffed. “Do you think I am playing games with you? I asked a question, and that question demanded an answer.”
The two older women stared at themselves, and were hesitant to speak.
“Guards!” I called.
“Take them to the prison, and they are dismissed from their duty in the mansion. I will have my uncle interrogate them, and they will not be set free without any punishment.” I said to the guard that hurried at the sound of my call.
They fell on their knees. “Have mercy, Alpha. We only hear it.”
I snorted. “You should have spoken up when you had the chance. Take them away.” I ordered the guards, and turned my back against them, heading towards the house.
“Uncle Chad!” I flung the door open, and found him as the dining area, cleaning the table. He dropped the kitchen towel on the table when he saw me. “Is anything the problem, Kellan?”
“I heard those workers talking about the curse.” I told him, and took out a chair to sit down.
“What curse?”
“You weren’t even there when the witch talked about it. It was just us in the room, so how come they are aware about it?” I placed my hands on the table, and stared at him.
“I don’t understand. How could they be aware of what should have been a secret?” He asked back with his brow slightly raised.
“Did someone eavesdrop on you, Kellan?”
I nodded, that was the only reason I could think of and why those workers were talking about the curse.
“What if the pack members find out?” I wasn’t supposed to panic about it, but I couldn’t help it.
“They might want to avoid me at school because I carry some curse, and think that’s the reason why we are having the mating ball.” I ruffled my hair and huffed.
“You shouldn’t think too much about it. I will handle it, and stop the rumors from spreading.”
“It’s not a rumor.”
“We would have to call it one, and that would make it easier to get rid of it from spreading.” He countered.
We fell silent for a while, and all I could think of was the stupid curse. There was something I still didn’t know about it yet, and I couldn’t let the pack members be aware that a witch was in the pack.
It would seem as if I had already failed in my duty as Alpha even before becoming one.
“I will fix it.” Chad muttered, breaking the prolonged silence.
“I trust you.”
I pushed the chair backward and stood up.
“Kellan, what do you think of Stacy? You said the witch told you that you need someone strong, a power wolf. She’s one, and she’s from your pack and her family is one of the prestigious families in the pack and even outside our pack. Even the Chief Elder suggests that you pick her for a mate.” Chad spoke when I was about to leave for dinner. I turned, and glanced at him over my shoulder.
“We are having the mating ball and I will get to choose the mate that I want.”
He nodded, and bowed.
“I respect your decision, Alpha.”
“You should.” I mumbled, and turned to leave. He didn’t stop me from leaving this time. I opened the door to my room, and stepped in, throwing myself on the bed.
I stared at the ceiling, and reached out to my drawer and took out a handkerchief, this was an imprinted mark on the handkerchief. The bloodstain was still there, I didn’t wash them off. I left it just the same way I was given.
The handkerchief was tied on my forehead by the stranger who saved me, and that was the only thing that I had.
Whoever that was, was below my height. I couldn’t identify the gender.
The mark on the handkerchief was never found, as if it doesn’t even exist.
I will be Alpha in a few months, and once I become Alpha, I have to choose a mate.
“Isra Weather…” I saw the name on her tag and read it out, she stared at me with those blue eyes,
I was a bit confused when I saw a glint of silver.
Was that her wolf?
I was going to discuss with the principal about the upcoming match when I saw her kneeling beside the principal’s office.
Weird, she only stared at me as I had something on my face.
I cleared my throat, and broke eye contact, and she took her head down.
“Haven’t seen you in any club at school nor sport. What do you do?”
She shook her head.
“What?”
“Did you say something? I can’t hear you, do you mind speaking a bit louder?” I held her chin, and tilted it upward. I wanted to look at her when she talked.
Instead she took my hand and bit them.
“Fuck.”
I let go of her chin.
“What the f**k was that?!” I raised my voice at her. “Are you dumb?” I was annoyed with her, why was she acting this way?
She was just some bum, that seems to amuse me in a strange way.
The door of the principal’s office opened, and he said,
“Kellan, leave her alone.”
I looked away from her, and stared at the principal. He sucks his teeth. “She can’t respond to anything you say to her.”
“Do you mean she’s dumb?” I frowned.
“She can’t speak. She’s mute.”
