~ISRA~
I looked away from them and kept my gaze on my uniform skirt. I didn’t want to hear what he had to say or could lift my gaze because tears were building up, and I didn’t want it to spill.
“You can go, Isra. I don’t want to seem that heartless keeping you here and if something like this happens again you might get suspended or expelled from school and you know what that means if you do.” Principal Collins said he turned to Kellan. “I heard you have something to say to me. Come in, Kellan.”
Kellan followed him in, and that was when I stood up.
I stared at the door of the office that had been shut, he didn’t know.
He didn’t feel the bond that I felt.
Kellan had no idea that I was his mate, and it didn’t seem like he was hiding it, he didn’t have a clue or felt anything.
How could that be?
He isn’t aware that I am his mate.
Maybe my wolf was wrong, there was no way I could have been Kellan’s mate, he’s our Alpha and he has already talked about the mating ball where he will choose his mate.
I could have been wrong, I wiped my tears off.
I was the one who must’ve been wrong to think and feel that way towards Kellan.
‘I wasn’t wrong, wolves can be wrong about other things but not with their mate!’ My wolf sounded annoyed in my head and then blocked me from being able to get access to her.
I heaved a sigh and walked to my locker to change my uniform. I took my sportswear and walked to the restroom.
I heard gossip, and it all has to do with Kellan, and who might have the lucky chance of being his mate after graduation.
I washed my face and sighed.
“Hey, didn’t you see us in here?”
I spun around when I heard the voice beside me. One of the girls was Yanni, and the other girl with her was a skinny blonde.
I bowed slightly at Yanni.
She snickered. “I heard you fought with Stacy, you must have gotten some nerves from where?” She stepped closer to me and curled the tip of her hair with her fingers.
The other girl pushed me backward with her hand. “Talking to her is like talking to a wall.” She chuckled to Yanni.
Yanni turned to her. “Even the wall is better than her.”
“Do you want us to put you back in your place? It seems you’ve forgotten to engage Stacy in a fiddle.”
I turned off the faucet and wiped my hands on my shorts.
“It’s a warning, next time we won’t let you off so easily, you will have to deal with us and I don’t think you can handle that,” Yanni whispered beside my ear and tapped my shoulders. “You know we can get you out of Silver High, and you don’t expect Mr. Weather to choose you over his daughter, you are just adopted. One of the benevolent acts of his…” She smirked and touched my cheek. I remained fazed and didn’t let her words get to me, this wasn’t the first time I heard such words in school.
Being regarded as a nobody was better off.
I came out of the restroom after the girls were gone, and went to the study room.
It was time for our study meeting, I opened the door of the room and met Kellan seated on one of the empty seats. He picked up a book with his eyes fixed on it.
I realized he wasn’t reading when I got to my seat, the book he held was turned upside down.
I wasn’t confident enough to lead this study group, and worse I couldn’t speak.
My wolf stirred now, and she was acting up inside me again.
I stole glances at him. He held the book in the same position and wasn’t moving an inch from there.
I looked away and brought out my books. I kept them on the table, I flipped through the pages but my sight was being blurred. I had to pick up my glasses and put them on.
“Nerd, how are we gonna present?” One of the girls in my group asked, I quickly took out my pen and tore a piece out of my notebook.
I wrote about it.
“We have to find a theme for the presentation.” I gave it to her.
She read it and huffed. “You can come up with that, can I leave now?”
I snatched my note back from her and wrote on it.
“We just got here.”
“I have plans.” She responded with a smile and dropped my note in front of me, took her bag, and left.
I had to get used to it and might be the only one working on the project without having any help.
His scent got closer, and I could barely lift my gaze to stare at him. My hand shook beneath the table which I hid from him.
He placed his hands on the table and stared at me.
I thought he was avoiding me. “I…I…” He sputtered. “Can you look at me?” He asked politely. I glanced around the room quickly and found that we were alone.
I stared at him now and it could only be for a moment before I looked away. I felt as if I could melt under those intense gazes.
“I think I should apologize for some things that I said, I didn’t know you couldn’t speak. I…was…”
I raised my hand to stop him from speaking but I don’t think he get it.
I couldn’t communicate with sign language either, I was never taught and I couldn’t tell if he understood me.
“What do you…? I don’t understand…” He muttered quietly and I dropped my hand.
“Can I apologize for that?”
I nodded curtly.
He managed to place a smile on his lips.
I grabbed my pen and wrote in my notebook. I wanted to write if he could feel the bond between us but decided against it and dropped my pen.
“I’m sorry if I hurt you with my words.”
The only response I could give him was another nod.
