I am not my father

~KELLAN~ I waited for her in the study room, and when I saw her coming through the window with her head tilted downward and sagged shoulders. I picked up the book in front of me quickly without glancing at the book that I picked up. I peeped at her through it, she moved over and took a seat. I stared at her in silence watching everything that she did. I felt a smile touch my smile when she picked up her glasses. ‘Cute little mouse.’ My wolf Kale muttered, and I grinned widely. ‘Amusing isn’t she?’ I asked him. Kale took a moment before he responded. ‘She’s cute.’ I clicked my tongue. ‘But she can’t speak. She’s mute, I knew she was acting strange. I never knew this was the reason why she acted that way.’ ‘That’s why she’s even cuter.’ I rolled my eyes at Kale but I couldn’t say it was a lie that she was cute. Her hair was parked in a ponytail, her heart-shaped lips were pouted in a slight frown. She took her pen and wrote to a girl. I couldn’t focus on whatever transpired between them, I wanted to have a moment alone with her. Fuck. What was her name again? I traced my eyes down at her name tag, it wasn’t there. She was wearing a sports uniform, and what was written on the back of the shirt was the initials of her name. I cleared my throat to make a sound, wondering if she was going to glance my way but she didn’t. I was left with no choice but to get on my feet and go to her. We were alone in the study room because the others left. She lowered her gaze the moment I stood in front of her. I placed my hands in front of her desk and exhaled. “…look at me.” I wanted to see her eyes and those charming faces. She lifted her gaze and stared at me, I was lost for words in that second of what I wanted to say. I have seen a lot of pretty girls and met a lot of them why was she different? I was able to confirm that she couldn’t speak when she nodded at everything that I said, she stared at me intently as if she was trying to read my thoughts. “…that’s why I wanted to say.” I cleared my throat and stared at my hands on her desk. I didn’t know what else to say to her, I stood there awkwardly without knowing what to do. “Kellan, I was looking for you. Training time.” I would say that was the perfect call because I needed to leave here. Terry hurried into the study room and grabbed my hand. “Everyone is waiting for you so we can start.” He shoved his brown hair in my face, and I pushed him aside. “Isra right?” He stretched out his other hand towards her. Reluctantly she took his hands. “I’m Terry.” She nodded as if she knew about him. I took Terry’s hand away from hers and left the study room. He was about five feet ten with an ever-smiling face. He was part of the basketball team, and I didn’t know why I took a liking for him. “You know her?” I asked when we got outside, and he nodded. “She’s the only mute girl in school, though she tried to be invisible but we do notice, that there’s a girl named Isra Weather.” “Isra Weather.” I didn’t know why I forgot the name and it was such a pretty name. I slapped my cheek. Something was wrong with me. Why was I thinking of her? I need to get back to my senses and I only thought of her because I felt guilty. Why would I feel guilty for that? It still didn’t make any sense to me. “What are you thinking about? You just walked past the hottest girl in school. Nana Peterson.” Terry nudged my arm and I got out of my trance. “I thought you wanted her.” “I do. You can bring her to my house at seven.” I winked at him and jogged over to the field. “Kellan. That’s is not….!” I waved my hand at him and continued jogging till I was at the field and he had to keep up with me. I went home after the training, Uncle Chad was there to pick me up. He said that the Chief Elder was waiting for me at home. We met him in the living room, and he stood up and greeted me. “I will freshen up and join you in a minute. I kinda stink from all the sweat from training. I could have taken a bath at school but I was informed you wanted to see me.” “I will be waiting here, Alpha.” He bowed and took his seat. I took the stairs to my room took off my clothes and went into the shower. I came out after some minutes and wore something more comfortable. I joined the Chief Elder downstairs and took the seat in front of him. “You wanted to see me, can you be quick with it I have a guest coming in at seven.” “A guest. Are you expecting a girl, Alpha?” Chief Elder frowned. I could see the top of his bald hair when he lowered his head. “We would have to hasten up with the ceremony, so you can drop the habit of flirting around. You can’t have all the girls in the pack.” He scolded me. “Before the ceremony, I can have all the fun that I wanted…” “Your father wasn’t like this!” He raised his voice. “We trained you since you were a kid, and not only did you go against the tradition of the alpha practicing celibacy until he found his mate. You…” “I am not my father!” My voice sounded above his. “A man that couldn’t protect his family, I am nothing like him, he died like a f*****g coward.” I gritted my teeth. “If that’s what you came here to say, then you should leave….” “Your father was murdered.” “Did he even try to protect me? No, someone else did, he didn’t try to protect anyone or even himself.” I was speaking out of anger, and he knew that. He remained calm and said nothing for a while. “Is that why you trained so hard?” Uncle Chad broke the silence, I didn’t realize he had been seated there until he spoke. “I want to be alone.” I stood up from the chair and stormed out of their presence. “Alpha, your guest is here!” “Bring her to my bedroom.”
