Chapter 05

We were having dinner with the Beta that served my father. I was in my room and was dressing up, and I was informed by Chad that they were already in the mansion.
I came downstairs and met the Beta, his beautiful wife and daughter.
They bowed when I came down.
“Alpha, welcome back home.”
I hummed in response to their greeting.
“Let’s proceed to the dining.” I gestured towards them, and he nodded.
“Chad, have the maid served, join the table.”
“I wanted them to serve you something you might like.” He replied, took off the apron on his body, and sat beside the right-hand side of the long table before me.
I was seated at the head of the table, and the Beta family was seated on my left.
“If you still want me to serve you, I can still do that.” Beta said.
I waved him off. “You are too old for that, I already have someone in mind.”
“It took you so long before you came back. We thought...”
“I would have been back sooner, there was some issue we had to sort out.” I cut him off. “And my father left the seat for me, which I must take as my father’s son.” I cleared my throat and placed my hands on the table. “I wanted to have dinner with you because you once served my father. You were loyal to him, that was what I was told, and from what I remembered. We all suffered from what happened to the pack years ago, it got destroyed and lives were lost.” I sighed and took my gaze to him. “You helped the Chief Elder to restore the pack to shape. I thank you for that.”
“You don’t have to thank me, Alpha. It’s our home.” He bowed and then lifted his head. He touched his daughter who had been smiling at me all along.
“This is my daughter, Stacy. She’s a Beta wolf, strong, beautiful, and charming. She will be a good mate.”
I chuckled. “Did you plan this with the Chief Elder? He talked about her.”
“No, it’s because Stacy earned the name for herself. She will make a perfect Luna for you, you’ll be a powerful couple.” He added.
I snorted and stabbed the beef on my plate with my fork.
“She will attend the mating ball but she can grace my bed with those charms that she has before then.” I placed the steak into my mouth and chewed, and it tasted good.
I turned to Chad. “This is good.”
“I’m glad you liked it, Alpha.”
I nodded curtly and continued eating.
“This is my Uncle Chad.” I introduced him to the Beta.
“I know him, Alpha.”
I nodded. “What do you think of her?” I asked Chad.
He glanced at Stacy.
“A good match for you, Alpha if you like her.”
I returned my gaze to the food. “Is this your only daughter?”
“Yes,” Beta replied sharply and drank from the water on the table.
I looked up, and my eyes caught Stacy. She smiled shyly at me. I scoffed, I have seen her at school a couple of times but my wolf doesn’t like her.
‘She’s full of pretense. I can see the look in her eyes.’ My wolf Ash muttered.
‘What do you know?’ I hissed at him.
‘Mouse is prettier.’ He purred.
He acted weird when I was around her, and indeed she was pretty.
I smacked my head with the spoon in my hand, why was I thinking about her?
I wanted to know why she acted that way earlier.
Did she hate me?
“Kellan. Are you okay?” Chad asked, and I jolted out of my trance.
We had dinner, and I was left with Stacy on the balcony. The night was cold despite the full moon, there was something odd about tonight.
I held the railings and watched the blue moon.
Wondering how I got cursed by a red moon.
“You don’t want me?” I heard Stacy’s voice behind me.
I spun around.
“You acted like you didn’t want me.”
“I won’t be able to choose anyone until the mating ball, and you should wait till then. You might get lucky.”
She grinned widely. “And I can do anything you want.”
“Go ahead.”
The witch did say I needed a strong wolf beside me, someone fearless and bold. Stacy fell into that category.
I would know more about her strength when they spar, and I would be able to watch and choose who I will have as my mate.
She stood beside me and held the railings. “Do you need me for anything else?”
I stared at her, her slender figure did look good but I wasn’t in the mood to have anyone on my bed at the moment.
“You should leave. I can hear your father calling you, it’s time to go home.” I picked up her brown coat and put it on her shoulders covering her shoulders red gown.
She frowned and grabbed them.
I followed her out of the door of the balcony and met with the Beta.
“Thank you for having us, Alpha.”
I crossed my hands at my back and nodded to their greetings.
“You won’t be addressed as Beta anymore but Mr. Weather after the Alpha Ceremony. Which will be soon, and I will see you to the door.”
I walked with them to where their car was parked, and they got in.
I waited till they drove out of the compound, I was about to go back in when I heard someone speak.
I had a sharp hearing, and I always heard what was said around me even in a whisper but this wasn’t a whisper.
Whoever spoke, had no idea that I was there.
“...you don’t mean that?” That was another voice.
“It’s the truth. The Alpha is cursed, that’s the reason he can’t find his mate, and he needs the mating ball.”
“He is cursed?”
“Yes. Alpha Kellan carries the curse of the red moon.”
