CHAPTER2

SARAH’S POV Justin stopped moving when he looked at the man standing next to me. His face went white. His attitude changed, and in an instant, he stopped being cocky "Sir, I—I'm sorry," He stuttered, and bowed his head a little. "I had no idea it was you... Anyway, I'm sorry for the confusion. My ex—Sarah, she—she's probably just trying to create drama, You know how these things are.” My jaw felt tighten. Drama? That's what he called it, right? I wanted to scream and hit him again, but the man next to me stopped me before I could do anything. His speech was calm, in charge, and completely authoritative. "You can't insult my date like that." He said in firm voice. With a soft grab on my waist, he pulled me closer. His gray eyes looked right through Justin. Then he dipped me down out of the blue, like we were in the middle of a big love dance. I thought at first it was just to mess with Justin's head. Finally, his lips touched mine in a soft way. For a half second, I was shocked, but then his kiss made everything else go away. Something like this wasn't meant to happen. I couldn't help it, though. He leaned into me, and I let the kiss last a little longer than I had planned. My heart was racing. The man looked over at Justin with a cool, smug smile as he picked me back up. “Now, do you plan on spoiling my date any further? Or should I call security?” Justin's face went pale, and he lost all of his confidence. He stumbled and took a step back, clearly scared of the man. "N-no, Sir," he said. "That's not necessary... I just want to wish you both a nice evening.” He gave me one last sad look before turning around and almost running out of the bar. After that, there was a heavy silence. It was hard for me to know what to say or how to thank the man who had just... somehow saved me. I could still feel his kiss on my lips, which made my heart beat fast. I finally said, "Thank you," but my voice was shaking because I wasn't sure what to say. "I... If you hadn't helped, I don't know what I would have done”. A grin played at the corner of his lips as he raised an eyebrow. “The pleasure was mine, but I believe our kiss was interrupted.” He leaned in a little and teased her with a low voice. "Should we continue?" My face got hot, and my heart was beating fast in my chest. I closed the gap between us without thinking and pressed my lips to his again. It wasn't just a fake act this time; I really wanted him. As the kiss got deeper, the world seemed to fade away. My body responded to the warmth of his touch and the delicious smell that filled the room. I was really interested in him because of something unique about him. As we finally pulled apart, he whispered, "Xavier." His breath felt warm on my skin. I answered, "Sarah," but my voice was barely above a whisper because I was still lost in the moment. I couldn't quite put my finger on what made his eyes darken, and he ran a finger along the back of my ear. "Would you like to go to my apartment?" he asked in a friendly voice. I thought about it for a second, but I couldn't deny the pull I felt toward him. When I said yes, I let him hold my hand and we left the bar together. I didn't know what the night would bring, but I did know it would be one I would never forget. It was hard for me to say no, so I just nodded. He led me out of the bar and back to his flat by taking my hand. After that, the night was unlike any other I had ever had. Xavier was soft but intense, and every touch from his fingers made my spine tingle. It was memorable. It was like he opened up a part of me I didn't know was there. Later, as I lay beside him, watching the soft rise and fall of his chest as he slept, I felt my phone buzz. When I picked it up from the table and opened the email, I stopped moving. Best of luck, Sarah. Your job application as a teaching helper has been accepted. For the next term, you will work with Professor Xavier Steel. My heart almost stopped. Xavier Steel? The Xavier Steel? The guy I slept with last night is going to be my professor? I stared at his sleeping figure, stunned, my mind racing. How did this happen? How was it that I slept with the man who was going to be my professor? I slipped out of bed and quietly put my clothes together because I was scared and confused. I had to leave before he got up. I had to figure this out and think about everything. I quickly left his apartment without telling him, my mind a mess. I ran out into the cool morning air. It's not likely to be a chance, right? How is that possible? While I walked through the quiet streets and tried to figure out what was going on, I heard a small voice inside me. It was my inner wolf telling me that this wasn't an accident. The bond towards Xavier was something different. I craved for more. I went to our normal café to meet my best friend Haylee. She paid close attention as I told the whole story, her eyes wide with shock. "Wait... What? Are you telling me that the guy you slept with is Professor Xavier Steel?" she asked, shocked. As I nodded, I could feel the weight of everything hitting me. "Yes, but it's weird because I saw a picture of him before and it wasn't the same person." Haylee took out her phone, looked for a picture of Xavier Steel, and then showed it to me. I looked at it blankly. That man was different. "Perhaps it's just a coincidence," Haylee said, but it sounded like she wasn't sure. “You might be overthinking it.”
