The divorce procedure was fast and it was completed quickly.
We stepped out of the city hall, and I couldn’t help but stare at the divorce certificate in my hand and was lost for words.
I’d never imagined that I would divorce at a young age, life was indeed unpredictable.
Liam’s cold voice suddenly pulled me back to earth as I was lost in her thoughts.
“Pack up your things when we get back.” His commanding tone which seemed like a habit to him pissed me off so much that I instinctively frowned and ignored him.
Liam turned back and shifted his gaze to me after he had waited for a while and didn’t hear my response.
Meanwhile, my expression was cold and indifferent too, I guess very different from the photos I’ve on my old cell phone.
Well, one thing remained unchanged, no matter how cold my face was or the expression I had, I was still beautiful, I’m not a narcissist but people comprehend my looks a lot that I was always mistook as a fairy in the mystic tribe.
After a few seconds, I decided to respond with a casual and indifferent voice.
“Oh, just throw them away. I don’t want them anymore.” Liam’s brows furrowed, he was about to retort when a soft and pleasant voice called out. “Liam.”
Liam and I looked up at the same time, a woman in a white long off-shoulder dress was approaching us. Her features were delicate and pretty, and she had a charming smile.
Stopped in front of Liam, then lightly hooked her arm around his neck and asked without paying attention to me, “Are you done? Let’s go.” Liam’s hard expression softened visibly, and he responded with affection, “Alright, let’s go.”
I stood silently and watched from the side without making a sound or interrupting.
However, I had lots of thoughts going on in my mind as I watched the two people act lovey-dovey.
I wondered what I would have felt If I hadn’t lost my memory while watching this scene before me.
Although I had lost my memories, my heart still felt uneasy, he was after all my husband and he couldn’t wait to flirt with another woman. I mean how could someone flirt with another woman in front of the city hall right after his divorce?’
I shook my head and couldn’t help but feel sorry for having married him in the past. I felt gross watching the woman nestling up to Liam like a bird.
“Shameless.” I snorted and mumbled in a light tone, which would not be heard by the two who were still playing cozy,
However, I caught their attention as the woman with Liam let go of his arm and walked up to me with a soft smile. “McKenna, I heard you lost your memories.” She said with a friendly tone.
Somehow, I felt disgusted at the sight of the woman, especially when I recall the photo of her and Liam which I found in my old phone last night.
Meanwhile, I still didn’t wanna get entangled with these two, so I didn’t show it and just replied flatly, “Yes.”
The woman's smile grew even wider, she took a step forward, as if to hug me, and whispered in my ear, “Well, he’s still mine.”
A tight frown formed between my brows.
My suspicions were instantly confirmed that something was going on between this woman and Liam.
The woman stepped back and was standing with her back arched. She acted as if nothing had happened and asked sweetly, “McKenna, your makeup and dress looks really great today. Do you know that I usually don’t wear makeup because I’m bad at it? Can you be my guide and inspect my makeup and dressing in the future?” The woman inquired with the most friendly tone.
“Since you’re aware that I’ve lost my memories, you should know that I have zero clue about who you are, let alone that you don’t wear makeup,” I mumbled with a furrowed brow.
I’d only put on light makeup today, and the aggressiveness in my stunning features had been softened. Nevertheless, my tone was merciless.
After a short pause, I put on a faint smile and continued lightly, “But, you know what I do for a living. I usually only do makeup for the deceased. So, sweetie, there’s no need to curse yourself like this.” I said seriously.
Instantly, the woman’s face changed, but she still maintained a sweet and gentle demeanor in front of Liam, to which I silently rolled my eyes.
‘It must be hard trying to keep a man’. I thought to myself with a mocking smile.
Just then, Liam called my name in a deepened tone, somewhat annoyed, “McKenna.”
Without even sparing a glance at them, I responded indifferently, “You two can stay and be lovey-dovey in front of the city hall. I’m leaving.” I uttered, turned around, and left.
‘What does she mean by that face? I indeed only did makeup for the deceased. Because I’m a mortician.’ I huffed and refused to feel annoyed because of unimportant people.
Well, you might wonder why I had to work since I’m a fae princess.
Literally, this is what I do with my friends to earn money each time we escape from college. We once visited this realm and fell in love with it but we had no money to enjoy ourselves.
Therefore we decided to find a job to support ourselves since in the mystic tribe we didn’t use the same money as them.
We only used pearl or gemstone and no one here will take it, no matter how large and shiny it is.
Meanwhile, that was where we got the money used for snow skating which ended up terribly.
After taking a long walk from the city hall, I decided to visit my workplace.
Although it was a long walk that took me an hour to arrive at my destination, however, as soon as I entered the building, I was greeted by my former acquaintances. “McKenna Albert? You’re back?” I knitted my brow and was confused, didn’t I just take one week's leave to go snow skating?
I arched my lips into a thin smile and nodded, at the same time, I overheard the sidewalks of my colleagues.
“Is that McKenna Albert? The one who quit her job after marrying into a wealthy family?” A short blonde-haired lady asked.
“Yes, I heard she was quite good at work, but the family that she married into didn’t like her job and forced her to quit.” A raven-haired girl responded and sneered.
“It’s been so long since she worked. Who knows whether she’s still good at the job?” The raven-haired lady said with a sarcastic tone.
“Well, wealthy families have a lot of rules and taboos. They don’t like their family members dealing with the dead every day, as they believe that it would affect their business.” The short blonde-haired lady mumbled after stealing glances at me.
“So, she’s back to work now because she was kicked out?” The one sitting on her seat popped out her head and asked curiously.
I was stunned as I easily picked up on what my former colleagues were saying along the way, ‘Was I this foolish because of marriage? How many things have I done because of that lunatic? I have to find out.’ I was still thinking about what I had heard when I arrived at the manager’s office as the more I thought about it, the angrier I got.
How could I have willingly given up my job to marry Liam Romano? I must be dumb, to give up the job I worked so hard to get for a man.
Fortunately, I lost my memories and divorced Liam just now, this is a perfect step taken to come out of the misery pit.
