McKenna Let's Divorce
In the mid-hours of the night, I was exhausted and already sound asleep when I suddenly felt the cold breeze scraping off my skin, it turns out that the quilt was pulled off from my body.
I mumbled some gibberish words as I was half awake and felt my clothes being yanked off my body.
I trembled and opened my eyes, frightened.
It was Liam Romano, my contractual mate, husband, and alpha.
His expression remained bland like he was not pleased with me, however, I've gotten used to that, even when we're on the verge of intimacy, with his lips nibbling on my neck, his gaze remained stoic, he wasn't gentle but was rough as always.
We’ve been married for four years, but the number of times he has stayed in my cottage has not surpassed the times he wants s**.
My face turned pale, I bit my lips while trying to ignore the bizarre feelings, but my consciousness gradually left me. I passed out under Liam’s cold and intense lovemaking.
The next morning, sunlight shone through the slits of the curtains onto the bed, slowly my eyes opened and finally, I was awake.
I felt soreness all over my body and smiled painfully.
Turning my head to the other side of the bed, I found out that the spot next to me was already empty.
'He left long ago, without a word', this was not new as I had gotten used to his cold nature, which I'd always hoped he would change with time. I attempted to get up from bed, but the soreness all over my body was overwhelming and made my movements stiff. I picked up my nightie on the floor and got dressed, then straightened up the bed that discerns last night's foreplay.
Meanwhile, at the same time, I heard a clicking sound behind me, I turned around and saw Liam walking into my room dressed in a beige suit and a black loafer, with a strong air of nobility around him that drew me in each time I gazed at him.
Men with such outstanding profiles always tend to have a glint of coldness and arrogance in them.
'What am I thinking? He was the alpha of the Moonshine pack, the strongest of them, and was qualified to be the next king.
I was stunned to see him with my lips parted I asked, “You haven’t left yet?” I was a bit excited to see him in the morning.
He placed a pack on the table and pushed it towards me, “What are you waiting for? Take it now!” Liam ignored my question.
I creased my brow and grabbed the pack reluctantly, I looked down at the pack and flipped it, only then did I see that it was 'morning after pills'.
My eyes twitched as I tightened my hold on the box, and said softly, “Liam, can I not take this? I…”
“Now!” He gave me no room to speak and interrupted my words with no mercy.
This was how much he hated me. I've been nothing but a good Luna and obedient wife to him, I made sure not to cross his path or breathe the same air as him, just like he requested.
However, this wasn’t enough, I’d say he hated me for not being able to breed his pup, however, seeing him toss a pack of Morning After pills to me made me doubt if that’s the case, I can only help but wonder why.
My eyes dimmed, and my lips quivered.
I said no other word, and quickly opened the pack of medicine and tossed it into my mouth, I grabbed the glass of water that I left on the table by the bedside, and swallowed the pill with tears brimming in my eyes.
This was not what I wanted, I wanted to conceive and bear his pups, my cubs that’s what the contract is about. To breed his pup and remain his Luna, although I was not his fated mate but I was his chosen mate and I was over the moon when he suggested a contract marriage as I had been in love with him for two years before our marriage.
I’d know there was no love for me in his heart and he didn’t care about me.
I could only hope and pray to the moon goddess that he would love me one day.
I put the glass jug back on the table. However, before I could turn or react I heard Liam's sharp voice again. "Let's divorce, Mckenna.”
I froze as his harsh words registered in my head, I looked at him with doubt as I couldn't believe what I just heard.
It took me a while to recover from the shock and finally regain my voice and ask with difficulty, “Why?" I blurted out with shaky lips even after being aware that this would happen soon.
Tomorrow would be our fourth wedding anniversary, the exact day I accepted him in front of the pack members to be his Luna.
Liam Romano’s voice was cold, and his words were straightforward and heart-wrenching. “Don't act dumb, McKenna.”
“We’re only bound by a contract, I married you because I needed a marriage partner, a Luna, and a breeder, and you fit into what I want, obedient and capable, that’s all, but it turns out you’re useless and can’t bear my pup.” He paused and let out a muffled breath.
I gazed at Liam with bitterness in my heart trying as much as possible to hold back the tears brimming in my eyes.
“And.” I implored more, hoping that he would apologize rather, he went on and said.
“I found her, my mate.”
‘Found her? I thought it was a mutual breakup.’ I mumbled in my heart.
Meanwhile, I didn’t know who his mate was.
But I had accidentally seen the photo of a woman in Liam’s closet and had also heard him call out another woman's name during the foreplay at night with the lights off.
My eyes turned red, still couldn’t believe this would happen to me.
I reached for his sleeve, but he stepped back and avoided my grasp like a plague with his face filled with disgust for me, he bluntly affirmed, “You can take as much money as you want, the land in the south would be yours.”
My hand froze in the air, and I stuttered with a mocking smile, “Is this the limit you have graded me?”
So, he thinks I accepted the contract and to be his Luna just for his title and wealth?
Liam’s face turned sullen and gave me a retarded look that says, ‘Did you not?’
Flashback to my mating and Luna ceremony, which was also my wedding, I remember Liam’s stern look was intimidating but that doesn’t hide my beaming face as I was happy when he agreed to marry me but refused to mark me.
Furthermore, Liam abruptly recalls the exciting look on my face when he handed me the key to a Mercedes Benz and a key to a new cottage.
He immediately concluded in his mind that I was some money-driven b***h.
“The lands in the north will be in your name, you will also get five hundred million dollars. Be at the city hall this afternoon, there won't be much hassle as I haven’t marked you yet.” After he spoke the last words, his phone rang.
He quickly took out his phone and glanced at it, his cold eyes and eyebrows were crumpled, softened instantly. “It’s all settled, yes. I’ll come over now.” He hung up the call, didn’t utter any more words, and strode out of my soon-to-be former cottage.
I walked down the stairs like a living dead with my tattered-looking nightwear and left the house looking bizarre.
Grace, the servant assigned to me tried to stop me with a worried voice, “Luna McKenna, what’s wrong?”
My voice was rough while replying to the young servant, “I’m fine, just going for a walk, I'll be back.”
I roamed the street aimlessly, confused and amazed. However, I’d only know that if I continued to stay in this pack a second more I would die from anger.
Meanwhile, my phone vibrated, I flinched and snapped out of the daze.
I discovered a string of messages with a stimulating photo at the end.
I momentarily bit my lip.
In the photo, in which a slender woman was embracing a man, their posture was so stimulating that you'd think they were kissing, with both faces visible.
My heart hurt so much as if it was gripped tightly and was about to explode.
From the intense biting of my lips, they became rough and bleeding, my body quivered as I felt cold chills all over me, and was trembling all through.
My gaze was disoriented as my mind was in chaos, I wasn't aware when I walked across the road like a loner who was lost and gone from this world.
Abruptly, someone shouted behind me, “Hey! Watch out!” I snapped back to earth but before I could react, a truck from nowhere appeared and hit me, I was thrown into the air like a piece of garbage that's being stepped all over.
