Devil vs Mermaid: War to be the God

Chapter :- 21.

After finishing the mating which lasted almost two hours, Erlik and Sylvia laid their bodies down on her bed. They were huffing heavily, closing their eye to calm their nerves. It took few more minutes for Erlik to realize what he just did. Sylvia just wanted a simple kiss from him but instead he did something that's completely forbidden in both Mermaids and devil's world. Erlik didn't have such intentions at all. Although he wanted to go near Sylvia, but never thought of doing such things with her.

“That was amazing. I can't believe we completed the mating so soon. Now we just have to claim each other and after that nobody could separate us anymore. You made me really happy tonight.” Sylvia said to Erlik while hugging him sideways.

“Yeah… Umm.. I think I should leave before your parents find out.” Erlik said and Star getting up from the bed.

“Don't you want to stay a little longer?” She asked hugging his back.

“I want to, but I don't think I should. If someone finds out that I'm here at this time, that would create a chaos. We are going to see each other in the morning anyway.” Erlik give her some excuse to leave her room as soon as possible.

“Okay. I'll see you tomorrow then. Good night. I love you.” Sylvia gave him a small kiss and Erlik left her room quickly.

The moment Erlik got out her room, an evil smile came onto Sylvia's lips. She became happy to finally get success on her plans. Sylvia had a doubt that Erlik was falling for Zene slowly. That's why she planned this all to trick him into mating her. Once he mates with her, she will become sure that Erlik will never leave her for anything. This sealed the relationship between her and her beloved human king. But she didn't know that things are not going as she's thinking. Erlik's is not a human but a devil, and he's here to kill her not love her. She doesn't know that she's already being tricked before she can trick Erlik.

Getting out of Sylvia's room, Erlik rushed to his room and locked his door from inside. He started cursing himself for making this huge mistake. He never imagined that he would have to mate for the first time with his enemy instead of his lover. He doesn't like Sylvia a bit, then how did he fell for her and made this mistake? Why did he felt the urge to mate with a girl he never liked. Although he didn't commit to anyone till now, but he felt that he betrayed someone, and he's truly guilty of it.

“Don't think about it anymore. You did what you had to be done to get success. You did it because it was necessary for your mission. Don't overthink it and go to bed.” Erlik told himself to avoid feeling guilty.

Taking a good and long bath, Erlik finally went to bed. But sleep was far away from his eyes. For some reason, whenever he closed his eyes, the time he spent with Sylvia a few moments ago started flashing in his mind. It was making him irritated. He had to remind himself again the reason of his arrival to finally get some sleep.

Although he succeeded to sleep, but it was not peaceful at all. Because in the next moment, he found himself on the same spot he saw Zene sitting in her white Mermaid form. Erlik was standing on a rock and Zene was inside the water in her white Mermaid form. From his place, Erlik could clearly see her beautiful layers of fin moving inside the water, in a perfect manner. But her face was sad as tears were rolling down her cheeks. She looked really heartbroken.

“Erlik... What have you done? How can you do this to me? I thought you loved me? But I was wrong. Now I know that you love my sister, not me. So, I'm leaving this place for forever. Have a good life. Goodbye Erlik..”

“No… Don't leave me please. Princess… Come back. I only love you and nobody else. I can't live without you. Please come back… Please don't leave me.”

Erlik kept begging and begging, but Zene dived into the water without caring anything and never came to surface again. Erlik heart was aching in separation with the first love he ever found. He cried and begged for her to return, until his throat became dry, and he couldn't form a word anymore. He felt like he's about to die from the burn his heart was having. So he clutched his chest and screamed for Zene one last time with all the strength that was left inside him.

“Princess..”

He jumped up on his bed to find out that it was all a dream. He looked around to check if it was truly a dream or not. Once he made sure that it was just a nightmare, he took a deep breath and looked outside to see that it was not morning yet. The sun was about to rise as the sky was getting a little red. It's still time for the royals to wake up. Erlik didn't want to see Sylvia at that moment, and he wanted to find the meaning of the dream, so he got out of his bed and went out of the palace in that condition. His whole body was covered in sweat from such a horrible nightmare, but he couldn't risk getting caught by Sylvia. So he thought that he would wash his body in the ocean.

Reaching to the seashore, Erlik slumped down on the sand. He kept pulling his hair to get the image of Zene's crying face from his eyes. Why did he have such a dream? Why she's affecting him so much? Dose he truly loves Zene or was it just only a dream? But if it's just only a dream, then why does he still have the ache in his heart from thinking about the separation from her? Even if he loves Zene, he can never get her because of the difference between them. Not only her father but also Erlik's father will strictly oppose it and the results would be both of their death. But how can he get his mind off of her? He couldn't get his mind fixed and all those questions were making him crazy. So he screamed out loud to get rid of all his frustrations.

“Aaaaaa....”

Erlik felt that tears are invading in his eyes. But he's a Devil in kind and devil's aren't allowed to shed tears. To hide his emotions from even the empty beach, he decided that it was time to take a bath. So he got up from his place and slowly entered the water. He went up to the level of his chest to calm his mind and closed his eyes so that the water can drift all his emotions away. For a moment he truly felt relaxed from getting inside the cold and salty water. But in the next moment everything turned opposite to his expectations.

Because Erlik's eyes were closed as he was trying to relax, he didn't see the huge wave that was coming towards him. When he felt the movement of the water and opened his eyes, the wave already reached near him and drowned him into the ocean. He tried to surface but the pull of the water below wasn't letting him come up. Despite pushing him towards the land, it was pulling him more and more into the depth of the ocean. He thought that this is the end of his life because there's no one around to save him and nobody will come out at this time of the morning.

Just as he was about to give up, a hand hold his arm and pulled him out of the water. The ocean was acting crazily and for that, sands were mixed heavily with the salty water. That's why Erlik couldn't see the person that was saving him. When ever he tried to open his eyes underwater, his eyes were getting hurt. But although he can't see the person, he felt from the movement that the stranger was having a hard time to save him because of the waves. It was pulling them down inside the water even though they were trying to get up.

Erlik was getting almost out of breath, when they successfully came to the surface. As soon as the air reached into his lungs, he started coughing furiously. Removing the excess water from his eyes, he found out that the same white Mermaid has come to his rescue again today. Zene was trying hard to pull Erlik out of the water and to the surface. Erlik became frozen to see the mesmerizing Mermaid form of Zene from up close for the first time. Her body was shining like a glitter from the sunlight. It was much more gorgeous than he ever saw her.

“Try to swim… Paddle.. Do something…”

Zene screamed at him and at that moment Erlik got his sense back. Then he noticed that Zene was having a hard time to drag his heavy body from the force of water. So to help her, he started flapping his arms and legs. Unfortunately he made it even harder for Zene to drag him, then it actually was. Both then again started drowning like before.

“Stop… Stop.. Don't do that. Can you at least make your body float? Let go of the control on your body, and it will float on itself.” Zene instructed him.

Erlik nod in reply and did as Zene told him to. This time, it became easier for Zene and in few more minutes, they were out of water. Both of them started panting loudly. Erlik for almost drowning and Zene for her early morning exercise. Zene shifted into her human form as soon as they were out of water. She needed to make sure nobody can see her in that form.

“Next time you want to take your life, inform me first. That way I won't be there to feel sorry and try to save you.” Zene said to Erlik after she caught her breath.

“I'm sorry. Committing suicide was not on my intention when I came here.” He said to her while dragging his palm from his hair to drop the excess water.

“Then why were you already underwater when I found you?” Zene looked at him with pointing eyes.

“I just wanted to take a bath on the sea. I didn't know that it will drown me when I was just in my chest level water.” Erlik explained her.

"Didn't you knew it was time for the high tide to come? Even Mermaids have troubles to swim when the high tide comes. You got lucky this time I was nearby." Zene said, squizing her hair to let the water out.

“I didn't know. But if all Mermaids are afraid to swim in the hide tide, then why did you jump in the ocean to save me?” Erlik looked at her face to get the answer, but Zene lowered her face to avoid looking at his eyes.

“I… I can't let anyone die on my watch. And besides, I'm not like other Mermaids. I'm much better swimmer than any of those Mermaids in our Kingdom. That's why I said you got lucky this time. If I wasn't around at this time, you would have died by now.” Zene said to him.

“And that is the only reason for saving me? Isn't there something more that you are not telling me? Maybe you have some other kinds of feelings for me because if not, then why would you save a Devil repeatedly from everything. Tell me the truth…” Erlik asked Zene because he felt that Zene was trying to hide something more from him.

“No. Not at all. Why would I have any kinds of feelings for you? I just saw you drowning and came to help. I would do that for anyone in your place.” Zene's reply hurt Erlik a bit. He wanted to know if she had the same feelings for him, like he has for her. Is it only his imagination when he feels Zene's attraction?
