Devil vs Mermaid: War to be the God

Chapter :- 7.

As everyone was walking towards the house of the royal's, Erlik couldn't move his eyes away from Zene. She seemed like a mystery to Erlik that he wants to solve very badly. The first mystery was, what is this girl's name?

When they reached their destination, Erlik noticed that he was standing in front of a medium size palace which has a more homely feeling to it. And when he reached inside, he saw that it truly represents as a house rather than a palace. It was decorated with huge curtains on all windows, and they have flower planet all around the hall. In the middle they have few wooden furniture to sit. On one side there was a huge dinning table in where almost 20 people can sit comfortably. A staircase was going upwards to the next floor from the other side of the hall where all the rooms were.

“Welcome to our house, Erlik. You can take it as your own home, and you are free to do anything you want. All the rooms are upstairs. You could find our room right at the start of the hall. Then all the rooms from there are our daughters. I think it will be best if you stay in the room right opposite of us.” Queen Angelia announced.

Zene became more shocked to see their parents, to allow him to stay right beside them. They don't know what mistake they are doing if this devil has some evil plans. She needs to warn them before something bad happens. Or she might try to change their decision to let him stay right beside themselves.

“Mother, is it okay to let a stranger stay with us? Maybe you should give him the room we have downstairs. Just to be safe.” Zene tried to warn her parents.

“What are you saying, sweetie? He is not going to harm us. As much as we know, humans are completely harmless to us. They are our friends. You don't have to worry. Everything will be fine.” Her mother said to her, making her frown. There's no way they are going to listen to her.

“Stop embarrassing us in front of our guest. Why are you always so weird? You can go to your room now. We don't need you here.” Sylvia said rudely to her, making her sad. She knew if she tried to warn them, this will be her sister's reaction. They never leave the chance to ashamed her.

“Sylvia, don't. I'm sorry Erlik. You had to see this. It's how these sisters are.” Their mother warned them by giving them a pointed look. She doesn't want to make their guest feel uncomfortable.

“It's okay Queen Angelia. But I was wondering, you didn't introduce me to the rest of your family. Now that I'm going to stay here, I might as well know them better.” Erlik used a sly trick to find out Zene's name. He already knows that she's one of the rulers eight daughters.

“Oh, I'm sorry. It was my mistake. I forgot to introduce other's to you.” King Triton said.

“As you know, this is our first daughter Sylviana. Then we have the twins, Amatheia and Andrina. They are already married and don't live in this house anymore. Then comes our 4th daughter, Marcellina. She found her mate, and she's getting married soon. This is our 5th daughter Zenevieva. And then again, our 6th and 7th twin daughters Sequanna and Savacia. Lastly, we have our little daughter Kallianassa.”

As King Triton introduced all of them, Erlik's mind got stuck on the name Zenevieva. He kept mumbling that name into his mind repeatedly. He doesn't even know himself why he was attracted to this girl all of a sudden.

“Sylvia, can you please show Erlik his room. Erlik, you can go and take rest for now. We'll see you at breakfast later.” King Triton said to him.

All thought they were talking to the Devil Prince, his eyes were stuck on Zene just like her's on him. Zene wasn't liking any of the events that were going on. She wasn't liking how her parents were treating a devil and inviting him into their private family matters. They were all making her angry. So she thought to go to her room instead of standing here, listing to their nonsense. She gave Erlik one last death glare before rushing to her room while puffing in anger.

Getting inside her room, she slammed the door and locked it from inside. First thing she did after getting inside was, taking off the bracelet that was hurting her wrist. She looked at the burnt place that was turned into black mark by now. It was getting red all around that place. It made her wonder that if he can do that to her even in his unconscious state, then how much power does he hold when he's in his normal state. It made her scared for not only her family, but the whole Island. Because if he wants, he can burn down this whole place. She has to be more aware from now on.

On the other hand, Erlik was mesmerized by everything Zene was doing. Even her anger was making him excited. When she was going to her room, Erlik's eyes kept following her until she was out of his sight. But Sylvia noticed it all. She saw how his eyes glow up when he looks up at Zene. She saw how his eyes were stuck only on Zene among all eight sisters of them. It made her more angry at Zene. She thought now that she found a perfect guy for herself, Zene was trying to snatch him too. And she was determined that she won't let that happen.

“Come Erlik, I'll show you, your room.” Sylvia said as she held Erlik's hand.

Instantly few low gasps came out of her sisters. All of them realized what she was trying to do. Their parents just smiled at that and walked away, leaving them there. Erlik was also shocked from Sylvia's sudden action. He realized that their future Queen is falling for him without even trying anything. It's a very good news for him. So he gave a flirtatious smile to her and started following her to his room.

Leaving him at the door, Sylvia left him to freshen up. Erlik was truly tired from acting like a good guy and smiling all the time for them. As soon as he got inside his room, he wiped the smile he had till now and took a deep breath. But even after when he was alone, Zene's face kept flashing in front his eyes.

“What are you doing? Don't be such a stupid. Focus on your mission. Don't let a Mermaid's beauty come in your way.” He told himself and laid down on the bed that room holds.

The whole day passed by. Erlik had his breakfast and lunch with the royal family. But Zene didn't accompany them in any of them. The devil's eyes kept searching for her, but she never came in front. Sylvia was very happy with her sister's absence. She sat beside Erlik all the time and tried her best to flirt with him.

“Erlik, you should go with Sylvia and look around our Island. I'm sure you would love the view around.” King Triton offered him at lunchtime.

“I would love to. But I'm really tired for today. We can have this tour tomorrow.” He said to Sylvia.

“Yeah. I think it's a better option. Besides, it would take us the whole day to travel the whole Island.” Sylvia said and everyone agreed to that.

At night, Zene finally joined her family for dinner. Seeing her there, a real smile crept onto Erlik's lips. This time, Zene was looking different, but more beautiful than before. This time she was wearing ornaments made out of flowers instead of seashells, which was making her look even brighter. But seeing her like this, Sylvia felt her whole body burn in anger. She thought Zene was doing this to attract Erlik towards herself.

“Zene, Kally, where were you the whole day. You didn't even join us for lunch.” Queen Angelia asked her daughter.

“Sorry mother. We went to collect flowers from the North. We wanted to try a new look.” Zene said to her mother.

“But you should have let me know first. I got worried about you.” Their mother scold them.

“Sorry mother. It won't happen again.” Zene said with a beautiful smile Erlik has ever seen. It instantly flattered him.

“Fine. Eat now.” He noticed her mother's heart melt by her smile.

Zene was truly out of the house with her little sister Kally to pick some flowers. The ornaments she owns was hurting her burn. But she needs to hide it from others no matter what. So she had the idea of making her ornaments out of flowers. Flowers are really soft to hurt her anywhere. That's why she was out with her sister, as she helped Zene pick them and make a bracelet or necklace out of them.

At dinner, Zene never looked back at Erlik. She tried to ignore him because she felt his eyes on herself through the whole dinner. And it was making her really uncomfortable. She also felt the jealousy of her sisters when they saw her with a new look. Specially Sylvia.

“So when are you two leaving for the tour tomorrow?” King Triton asked to make conversation among themselves.

“I was thinking right after dinner would be great.” Sylvia answered as her mood lighten up instently.

“What? Where? What tour?” Zene was shocked to hear it and started questioning about it.

“Sylvia is going to give Erlik a tour around our Island. Isn't it exciting?” Queen Angelia answered.

“No, it's not. How could you allow a stranger to travel all over the land with her alone? It's not safe.” Zene burst out.

“Keep your voice low. What happened to you all of a sudden? You were never such rude to anyone before? And Erlik's not a stranger to us anymore. He's a part of our family too.” Her mother scolded her.

“How could you trust him so much? You don't know anything about him.” Zene kept trying to make her parents understand.

“What is your problem? Why are you so bothered by him? I'm not a little girl anymore who can't protect herself or our land. I'm the future queen. So don't try to put your nose into my matter.” Sylvia started screaming at Zene.

“I'm just trying to tell you that it's not safe to travel alone with a stranger. Please trust me for this one time.” Zene told her sister.

“You know what…” Sylvia was about to shout at Zene again when their father stopped them.

“Stop it this instance, or I will lock you both up in your rooms for three days. This is my house and I won't want to hear any argument in it.” King Triton screamed out, making everyone calm.

“Sylvia, I think Zene's right. It's not proper for a queen to travel around with a man alone. So Zene and Kally will accompany you two.” Their father announced, making both of them frown.

“But father…” Zene and Sylvia both were about to protest in unison but their father stopped them.

“I don't want to hear anything more from you two. It's my final decision. Now keep quiet and finish your food.”

It was the king's order, so none of his daughter could even think to break it. Zene sighed in defeat when Sylvia kept glaring at her with raging eyes. They both didn't have the idea that things will go this way. Sylvia wanted to spend some alone time with Erlik and Zene was only trying to protect her sister. Now they are both stuck with each other and the devil. Zene was only happy by the order that Kally was joining them too. Or she might have gotten stuck between these two people she doesn't want to be with. On the other hand Erlik became happy to hear the king's order. These two sisters little argument gave him the opportunity to spend time with Zene. Now he's really excited about tomorrow's tour.
