Devil vs Mermaid: War to be the God

Chapter :- 9.

As Erlik asked Sylvia about the white-haired mermaid, Zene got scared. She thought maybe now she's going to get caught. Maybe he saw her but isn't informing anyone right now. But there is a slight chance that he actually didn't see her face and wants to know about his savior. So she stayed calm and listened to their conversation.

“What white haired mermaid? What are you talking about?” Sylvia asked in shock.

“The day I arrived here, I saw a girl with white hair and a white tail. But I couldn't manage to see her face. Do you have any idea who she is?” Erlik asked, making Sylvia more confused.

“There's no white-haired mermaid in our land. White hairs are only for royal blood angels. Mermaid doesn't have white hair. And the girl you are talking about with a white tail is only a legend. It's not possible for a mermaid to have a white tail unless she is the legendary protector of the Gods. Maybe it was your hallucination.” Sylvia replied to him.

“No, it was not. I swear on my life that I saw the girl with a white tail. She's the one who saved me from drowning in the first place. I'm sure she had the same features I'm describing you.” Erlik kept arguing with Sylvia.

“That's not possible. Even our father doesn't have a white tail, and he is the king of mermaids. There's no way that kind of girl exists in our world. Now stop arguing over it. There's no point to search for an unknown girl of your imagination.” Sylvia said while getting irritated by his continues questions about another girl to her.

“Yeah. You're right. Maybe it was my imagination. I'm sorry to make your mood bad. I apologize for my behavior.” Erlik said while kissing on Sylvia's hand, and she started blushing again from his false affection.

Zene was noticing everything while sitting behind them. Although she doesn't like to see both of these dallies flirting, she got satisfied to see that Erlik truly doesn't know who she is. That means she's safe for now. Thinking this, she took a deep breath and got back to her work that she was doing till now. They sat there for about an hour as Erlik asked Sylvia about their land more. She showed it like he's really interested in knowing their land when the truth is that he's preparing herself for the war that's about to happen in a few days. Erlik also made it seem like he actually likes Sylvia and wants to spend more time with her. Sylvia was really happy by catching the eyes of a handsome king right before her coronation.

Not only Sylvia, but Erlik also succeeded in making Zene trust him more. After spending the whole day together, Zene saw that he's not a person who is planning anything against them. He seems real nice to be a devil for a kind. Maybe that's why he got banished from his land. Maybe being a good guy isn't allowed in hell. Now she can relax a bit without worrying about that stranger anymore. But not too much because no matter how he acts, he's a devil from blood.

At night, they all had dinner together. Thankfully, tonight dinner was calm, without any fight or argument. So everyone finished their meals quickly and went to bed. Erlik also did the same. But sleep was far away from his eyes. He couldn't keep himself calm by thinking about what he saw that night he arrived in surface. He clearly saw that a girl with white hair and tail saved him. He felt her touch when she was bringing him out of water. Not only that, but he also touched her and burned her. How can be this possible that all of it was only his hallucinations.

After spending hours to think it through, he came to a conclusion that what he saw was correct. His eyes won't betray him like this. There is that girl hiding somewhere in this land. Maybe she's hidden so well that nobody knows about her existence. But now she can't hide herself anymore. He's determined to find that girl and prove it to everyone that what he saw was real. He needs to find that girl not only to prove himself, but he wants to know what that girl looks like who took his sleep out of his eyes, who keeps coming to his dream and helped him every time he drowns. She saved him not from only drowning, but she saved him from getting exposed and failing in his mission. He needs to find her.

Erlik's head was pounding from all the pressure, so he went beside the window to get some fresh air. It as again past midnight, and he was still awake like the previous day. And just like that day, he saw that girl again. It was the same girl who was silently walking beside the palace walls like last night trying to sneak in. And just like previous night, Erlik couldn't see her face clearly.

Now Erlik's mind caught her. Who is this girl and what does she do at this time of the night out of her house? Why is so rebel to go against her king's rules? And maybe she knows something about the white mermaid because he realized that both of these girls are the one who Erlik found in the middle of the night. Thinking this, he went to bed for the night. He made his mind that he will catch this girl first, and then he can automatically find the mysterious white mermaid.

Next morning he woke up by the knock on the door again. Erlik sighed to think that it's Sylvia again who began to bother him from the start of the day. So he dragged himself to open the door. But opening it he saw the face of the girl, he never expected to see. It was none other that Zene.

“Wow. What gave me the pleasure today to see our great princess's face at the beginning of the day?” Erlik said to her flirtatiously. But he didn't know that his charms were not going to work on Zene.

“You're late. If you don't come to the dining table in five minutes, we are going to eat all of it. So hurry…” saying this, Zene turned around and walked out of there without waiting for any reply from Erlik.

Actually, she was furious at Erlik and her family both. For him, she had to wait for her breakfast, and she's getting late to meet her little friends in the palace garden. And on top of it, her mother forced her to call him for breakfast. She tried to refuse many times, but finally she had to agree to see his face early in the morning. That's why she dragged herself in front his room and went back immediately after informing him.

It made Erlik amazed to see the first girl on whom his charms weren't working. No matter how much he tried to make a nice conversation with her, she never gives up on his arrogant behavior. But he also noticed that she doesn't behave as such rudely with others. It's only Erlik who's getting special treatment from her.

Erlik chuckled to see Zene's retrieving self and got back into his room. Then he realized that he's truly late. Today he slept way too longer than he usually does. So without wasting any time, he rushed to get freshened up and literally ran to the breakfast table. Reaching there, he noticed that everyone was waiting for his arrival. They haven't eaten anything yet.

“I'm so sorry for the delay. I woke a little late today and I really apologize for it.” Erlik said as soon as he reached his place.

“We waited just for today. It's not in our routine to have such late breakfast. So make sure this doesn't happen again.” King Triton scolds him for getting late.

“Of course. I won't make this mistake again.”

King Triton nod his head and Erlik sat on his chair. All the girls at the table started laughing to see him getting scolded by their father. Only Zene and her father were the one who had a stern face. Erlik thought for once that both of this father and daughter are same in their behavior.

After the breakfast was over, Zene rushed to the palace garden along with her famous follower Kally. There, they met almost fifteen teenagers to play together for the day. Today they chose to play blind man's buff. Or in their case, blind women's buff because all of them were only girls today. Soon their game begins and one after another takes their turn to be the blindfolded one.

Standing far away, Erlik was watching their little game. He never saw anyone play these kinds of games in the hell. So it was an amazing game for him. He was watching their game with detail and learning to play himself. For a bit he regretted being the devil's son because it only gave him hard works when the kids of his age were enjoying their lives with different kinds of games and amusements. He wishes that he could have the feeling of being a kid for a moment.

While he was thinking this, he noticed that it was Zene's turn to be the blinded one. Her sister Kally tied a cloth around her eyes and pushed him a few steps far. Then all the started running around and pushing her here and there from all around. But it wasn't bothering her a bit. Instead, she was really enjoying it, and she was laughing her heart out. Erlik never saw such a beautiful smile before in his life. She was looking heavenly while enjoying her little game.

“Maybe she should stop being rude and laugh more. She looks gorgeous when she laughs from her heart.” Erlik thought to himself and smiled himself. Zene was attracting him more towards her day by day.

As they were playing the game, Erlik noticed that Zene was walking around the fountain that was placed in the middle of the garden and everyone was pushing her more towards it. He knew that in a bit she's going to fall, tripping over the edge of the fountain and into the water it contains. So with his full speed he ran to her and caught her at the right time as she just tripped on the edge.

Zene got startled by the sudden action and froze. She didn't know what happened and who saved her because her eyes were still tied up. Erlik slowly opened the cloth from her eyes and gave her a smile when her blue mesmerizing eyes fell on Erlik's dark one. Their faces were really close to each other and there chests were plastered with each other, leaving no space for air to pass. Zene's breath started falling heavily seeing such closeness of Erlik and her.

“Sis, are you okay? I'm really sorry. I didn't notice that you 're about to fall.” Kally said to Zene.

“Yes sister, we're really sorry to push you hard. Please forgive us.” All the kids said right after her.

Zene's trance broke, and she realized that she's really close to Erlik. So he pushed him away from her immediately and fixed herself.

“It's okay, everyone. These kinds of incidents happen while playing games. Don't worry about it and start playing again.” Zene said to them and all of their faces lit up to see her Okay.

“What are you doing here, big brother?” Kally asked Erlik, making Zene and Erlik both shocked. Did she just call him big brother?

“Uhh… I was just watching you guys play. I've never played such games before, so I was interested to see you guys play it.” Erlik blabbered the truth without his own intention.

“What? Really? You never played it before? Don't worry. Come and play with us. It's really fun.” Kally invited him to play with him.

Zene became shocked to see the sudden change on her little sister. She never speaks to strangers, or at least the ones Zene doesn't like. Then what happened to her now that she's speaking so frankly with him? What black magic he had done to her?
