It started with arranged marriage

Chapter 20

After a long and hectic busy morning at the office, the most pleasant moment has come. I took all the staff to the restaurant near the office for lunch. They had been working hard for the whole week, busy preparing for tomorrow's annual fundraiser party. I treated them with a delicious lunch before the event day to refill their energy. I was eating with them and enjoying the break time with them. While I was eating, my phone started ringing. I picked up the phone and it was from Eric. 

“Hello,” I greeted. 

“Are you free now?” he asked without even care to say Hello first. 

“I’m having lunch with my staff, why?” I added.

“I’ll come and pick you up now, send me your location,” he said and then hung up the phone. I was left out without any further explanation. I had no idea why he said he would come and pick me up. Anyway I sent my location to him first and decided to ask when he arrived here. 

He arrived at the restaurant in twenty minutes after the call ended. When he entered the restaurant, all my staff were looking at him, they all found out he was my fianceeé because of the news. 

“Wow, you’re fast,” I said while putting down the water glass on the table. 

“You finish?” he asked, standing next to my chair. 

“Yeah, but why are you here?” 

“If you’re finished, let’s go. We need to go somewhere,” he said and grabbed my arm. I was annoyed by his action, but I just didn’t want to argue with him in front of my staff and just acted along with him. 

I grabbed my bag and told my staff that I'll be back soon and instructed them to continue with the work. Then I headed to the cashier and paid the bill. While I was paying the bill, Eric told me he’ll be at the car and left to his car. I followed him after taking care of the bill. 

“Ok now care to explain about what’s going on?” I said as I hopped into his car passenger seat. 

“You will find out soon,” he said and drove to the destination. I was irritated by him. Gosh why couldn’t he just gave the direct answer when I asked him a question. I just gave up on getting an answer from him and just sat inside the car quietly. I didn’t talk to him the whole drive the same as him too. The whole car ride was silent. Then he stopped his car in front of a big mansion. We both got out from the car and headed to the front door. 

“Good afternoon, Mr. Miller. I’m Kim and I’ll be giving you a tour of the house,” the real estate agent said. We greeted each other and then he led us inside of the house.

Me and Eric were behind him, I was confused about why we were here.

“Eric, why are we here?” I whispered yell at him. 

“I’ll explain to you later, now just focus on the house tour,” he said and then followed Kim. Kim was explaining and giving us the tour. The house was big and majestic. After finishing with the tour Kim said he’ll be waiting for us in the next house. 

“What! There’s another house tour?” the words automatically came out from my mouth. Kim was just smiling at me and then went to the next location. Eric and I were in his car and heading to the next house location. 

“You better explain everything after it's done,” I said to Eric. He didn’t say anything and just focused on driving. It took around 15 minutes to reach the next house. The second house was also really beautiful. It was a little bit bigger than the first one. After finishing the second house tour, Kim gave us the last house location and we all headed to the location. We reached the last house. As soon as I saw the house, I was drawn by the beauty and charm of the house. 

It was not too big nor small. The architecture design was mixed with modern and mid 90s. The garden was especially magnificently beautiful. Kim said goodbye to us after giving us the tour of the last house. 

“I’m still waiting for the explanation,” I said to Eric after Kim left. 

“Let’s talk at my office,” he said and then drove to his office. We reached his office shortly. He showed me the way to his office. His office interior was really suited with him, all black, no flower, only the furniture and computer. 

We both sat down across each other. “Which house do you like?” He started the conversation first. 

“What do you mean? What is it about?” I asked him back, leaning my back to the back of the chair. 

“It's a wedding present from my parents, so choose one that you like,” he said while handing me the files of all three house information. I was lost for words for a second. 

“Lily! Do you hear me, which one do you like?” he added. I felt a burden to accept this kind of expensive present. 

“Ahh, sorry. It’s too much, can you just tell your parents, I really appreciate the present but I cannot accept it,” I added. 

Then his face suddenly changed into the grumpy moody annoyed face. He crossed his leg and then leaned his body a little bit toward me. “Why can’t you just accept without insisting,” he annoyingly stated. 

“Because it's too expensive and I felt a burden to receive such an expensive present,” I added. 

“Gosh__ just choose one, you don’t need to feel that way, they’ve plenty of money” he said impatiently.

I was still conflicted about whether to accept it or not. He impatiently took the information about the file and then handed the file to the first house. 

“If you’re not gonna choose then this is my choice. This one is the biggest one, so,” he stated. 

I was not happy about that because that was way too big for only two people. “No, it’s too big,” I said. 

“Then choose one you like, god damn it,” he got angry and threw other files on the table. 

“Why are you angry at me, I’m not the one who asked for this,” I tried not to explode my anger. Then I took the files and handed him the file of the last house. “This one, so done right?” I said as I grabbed my bag and headed to the door. 

“My driver will send you off,” he said and I went out of his office, without saying anything.
