Getting to know you

It was little past 10 o’clock. Alli was sleeping in Luke’s embrace, or more like on top of him. Their bodies were perfectly matching, like they were molded for each other. Alli leisurely opened her eyes. At the first moment she didn’t notice that she was on top of Luke, but once she was fully awake, she lifted her head only to see a pair of sleepy eyes looking at her and a smile starching on Luke’s face.

- Good morning love.

- Jesus … what I have done? – she said while covering her face in his chest.

- Oooo, someone is hiding. Out of shame or regret?

- Good morning to you too. And no, I’m not hiding out of regret or shame, I just can’t believe myself that I slept with you after I know you only for a day. … Not that I haven’t done it before, but at least it was with strangers and I didn’t even know their names.

He growled at the thought of her sleeping with other men, but again he had to control himself. He took Alli’s face in his hands, and as soon as he saw her eyes, he was already calmer.

- Alli, look at me, baby don’t even mention that again. Last night was perfect, so don’t think about your past or how you used to act before.

Even thou she wasn’t a sweet talk person or someone that is easily getting attached to people, Alli blushed herself when she heard him saying that. She hid her face in his chest again, when she suddenly remembered something. She had no nightmares last night. For the first time in ten years she slept without waking up even once.

- I have no nightmares, - she murmured almost whispering. – I can’t believe it.

- No nightmares?

- No, not even one …

- See, that’s good, it’s even perfect. – Luke smiled to her and kissed her forehead.

- By the way where is Sang?

- Mhhhh, she must be in Nate’s room still sleeping. She hasn’t come down yet.

- Sleeping? That’s impossible, Sang never sleeps for so long.

- Like you never sleep without nightmares?

He was right, Alli thought. In the past ten years she never slept without nightmares, not until last night. Was it possible that her friend was still sleeping unbothered of the horrors that were following them every night? Alli was still thinking of the different possibilities, when Thomas and Samantha holding her baby entered the living room.

- Au, what my eyes are seeing here. Someone had an interesting night. – Tom joked, which brought him a pinch from his mate and an angry look from his cousin.

Hearing his voice made Alli to hide even more in Luke, trying to make herself invisible. Even thou Luke wasn’t pleased with Tom’s comment, he was more than happy to feel his mate so close to him. He had marked her last night and now his wolf was even more possessive of her. He was now capable to feel her emotions and to track her all the time. Lukas was only hoping that his human mate won’t reject him.

- Thomas get the hell out of here. Go to my office, I will come in a while. And make sure no one else is coming in here.

Tom left the room still laughing and holding his mate in his embrace. Carefully, Lukas took Alli in his hands and covered her with the quilt. He had no worries of being seen naked, because he was a werewolf, but he had big problems if anyone see his mate naked, even thou she was covered with a quilt. He mind linked the pack members ordering them to leave the mansion for the rest of the day. …  By the time he left the living room all of the pack members had already left the house and he took Alli to his room.

- Okay, you can show yourself now. We are at my room. You can take a shower and I will tell my sister to prepare some clothes for you and Sang. – he told her after he placed her on the bed.

- Thank you. … Luke?

- Yeah?

- Can you check on Sang for me? I’m worried about her. We have never been separated for more than couple of hours before.

- No problem. Go take care for yourself, and after you are done, you can come downstairs for breakfast and coffee.

He kissed her forehead which made her embarrassed again and left the room. Alli took the quilt off and headed to the bathroom. She filled the tub and entered in the hot water. She was confused, why she was feeling like that to Lukas. Yesterday before everything happened, she wasn’t even remembering him, and now she couldn’t stop herself of thinking about him. She wasn’t this type of a girl, she was cold to the men, unless she needed s*x. She was never thinking for a anyone for more than couple of minutes. Alli couldn’t take Lukas out of her mind. She decided to stop thinking about him and to start her bath. She washed her body and her hair and after she was done, she looked herself in the mirror. There was a small wound on her neck. She carefully touched it, to check if it hurts. Surprisingly for her she felt no pain. Alli walked out of the bathroom only to find out that someone had placed some clothes on the bed. They weren’t her style but she was grateful that she has something to wear. After she dried her hair she headed downstairs to check if her friend has woken up. When she entered the living room, she saw that everything was cleaned. Tom, Sam, Lukas, Nate and Sang were sitting on the bar counter eating their breakfast.

- Alli, you finally came. – said Sang jumping from her seat.

- Yeah, it took me more time than I expected. Is there any coffee?

- Yep, - she answered dragging her to everyone.

There was only one free place she can sit, so she headed to the free chair. It was located right next to Lukas, facing Tom and his wife.

- Come, sit comfortably. I will bring you breakfast. – said Lukas

- No, don’t. I don’t eat in the morning. I just want some coffee.

- So, Sang, I can see that you have found out too.

- Yeah, - she placed her cup on the counter. – I already apologized to him and Samantha. I don’t know how we couldn’t see it.

- Me too sweetheart. Me too.

As everyone were having their meal in quietness, Tom broke the silence.

- And in the end, I never found out for whom you mistook me.

The two girls looked at each other, and Sang took a deep breath before she answered.

- For the man who was keeping us in captivity for more than a year, we never knew his name. We were calling him boss, or in Russian – мастер. So even if you ask, we can’t really tell you who he was.

- What was he doing to you? - Nate asked

- Different things. It depended on his mood. – Alli said. She wasn’t shaking this time. It was easier to talk about it. – Sometimes he was beating us, sometimes – raping us. But the one thing he was always doing was to take one blood bank from each one of us every couple of days. Most of the kids that were kept with us died from it, but he kept bringing new, again and again.

Everyone was silent. Tom had disgusted look on his face, Sam looked like she was going to throw up her breakfast, Nate was in shock, but Luke was furious. He couldn’t hide the hare he was feeling, his inner wolf was even worse, he wanted to kill, he wanted blood, he wanted revenge. It was impossible thou, Alli had already told them, that he was dead.

- Don’t think about that. – said Sang, - It was in the past. And he is never going to come back. We made sure of it.

- What do you mean? – asked Nate

- She means that we made sure that he will get caught from the police. – said Alli. – believe me when I tell you that the Russian police took care of him the moment, they caught him. They are the most vengeful people that I know. Especially with freaks like him. He died even before he was sentenced.

The silence took over the place once more.

- How can you talk about that so occasionally? – Samantha broke the silence

- What do you mean? – asked Sang

- I mean if I had gone thru that, I could never talk about it like you do.

- There is no point in living in the past. – said Alli – Believe me, we spent years in fear when we first came in America. We were not going out, we were hiding in the corner of our room, we were not sleeping. After a year like that we were on the verge of going crazy, and the people that were looking after us decided to make everything possible to help us. With their help we recovered. Now … we have no problem talking about it, even thou we still have nightmares about what happened to us.

- Don’t overthink it Sam. – said Sang.  – What’s in the past should stay in the past.

Samantha shook her head in agreement.

- Okay baby, I have to go. You and Dany will stay here. Lukas will take care of you.

- Be careful! And come back as soon as possible.

- I promise.

Tom kissed his mate and his sleeping sun, took his bag and headed to the car Lukas has prepared for him. Just before he took off, he turned to his cousin:

- Make sure she is well protected and take care of my pup.

- I give you my word, no one is going to hurt them while they are under my protection.

Thomas got in the car and took off for his pack land.

Lukas returned to the house worried that the girls will remember the conversation they had last night. He had to do something. He had to make them stay here. He just needed a plan and a good excuse.
