LAUREN'S POV
-----
Today when I woke up, the first thing I did was puke my guts out. I wasn't still set in the weather. But I also wanted to spend some time with Leah.
Once I finished bathing, I realised it was Saturday and Leah will be having a holiday. I didn't want to squander the day by staying home.
When I sat on my bed, I felt perfectly fine. So, I was confident that I could make it for small tasks.
"Leah, can we go shopping and lunch?" I asked her as I stepped into her bedroom. She was still sleeping beside Luke and I had to wake her up to ask it.
"Can you come to wake me up after an hour?" She asked. That was her way of agreeing.
"Will do."
I looked at Leah who casually turned back, plopping her leg on Luke and dozed off. She was, not in the slightest, uncomfortable about it.
Luke turned over and slept on his back. Leah's hand landed on Luke's face and he woke up.
"Rennie, why are you here?" He questioned and I blinked.
"Oh, I was here to ask you guys for shopping and lunch," I informed him and he hummed.
"After an hour, please." He said the same thing and closed his eyes, unbothered that Leah's leg and hand were on him.
I had to find what was going on or it was just me overthinking.
-----
When I went shopping with Leah so we could bond over it, I had no idea that I would be feeling sick. I tried to hold myself but it felt a bit out of my control.
I walked inside the mall and was looking for clothes while I almost lost my balance. I had to immediately rush to the washroom to throw up.
I threw up all the breakfast and took in deep breaths. I pulled out the small bottle that was in my bag and rinsed my mouth. I looked at myself in the mirror to only see fatigue.
The makeup did hide my pale face well, but I knew I was in no condition. I sniffled and took the assistance of the wall. When I felt like I could stand and walk, I went back to the store where I had left them.
“Luke, I'm feeling under the weather. I’m taking the car and driving back home. You guys continue.” I explained to him and he gave me a worried look.
“You want me to drop you? Leah can shop on her own.” He told me and I shook my head.
“Jack will take me back,” I said and left without another word.
I didn't have a chance to say anything to Leah as she was in the trial room. I decided it would be best this way and Leah would surely understand if Luke told her that I was in no condition to stay.
Mom was right. I should've stayed home until I was getting used to the atmosphere here. I wasn't done settling here. I was a mess. I told Jack to drive me home and he did. I was glad.
I thought I was good, until a huge wave of nausea hit me, again. I didn't have time to rush upstairs to my room. I rushed to Mom's room. I pushed the door open and rushed to the toilet. I threw up, only bile, and felt a little relieved.
I flushed the toilet and gargled my mouth. I washed my face and was wiping it away using the towel when my eyes landed on the reflection in the mirror.
Dad was on the ground, in the corner, trying to talk but unable to. He was clenching his heart and at that moment, I felt like I lost him. He looked pale and motionless. I rushed to him.
"Dad! What happened to you?" I asked him, but it was of no use. I panicked, not knowing what to do. I realised that I should yell for help.
"Mom! Meredith! Rob!" I screamed, calling for the needed help. I pulled him up slowly, trying not to injure him or cause discomfort. Soon, everyone was here. As they witnessed the scene, they assisted me and carried Dad outside.
Soon, we were in the car, taking Dad to the hospital. I was worried, it was an understatement. I didn't want to lose him. It was such a time when I preferred dying, rather than seeing him die.
"Dad, please stay awake. Dad, we'll be there, soon." I kept on saying as tears flew down my eyes. I wanted to hold every last hope to know that Dad will be fine.
Mom held his hand tightly and was caressing his forehead as tears strode down her face. I took my phone and called Leah, but her phone was unreachable. I called Luke. He took my call.
"Luke, where are you guys?" I asked him immediately in a rushed tone. I was talking about something that was already a big deal.
"We're still shopping. What happened, Lauren? Is everything alright?" He asked, sensing the worry in my tone.
"Luke, Dad…he had a heart attack, I suspect. We're taking him to the hospital, get Leah and be there." I informed him immediately as I stuttered my way out.
"What? Oh, my God! I'll be there soon. Call Dad, too." I hummed and hung up the call. I called Uncle Jacob, Luke's father and informed him about the incident, even though he said that he'd meet me soon, in the hospital.
We reached the hospital and Dad was put on the stretcher and hurried to the emergency ward. Once he was inside, I was getting nervous about what was the actual case. The doctor came outside and we all surged to him.
At the same time, Uncle Jacob and Aunt Stella were beside us, supporting us. Aunt Stella supported Mom and tried to soothe her down.
"Mister Parker had a cardiac arrest." He confirmed my suspicions and I felt my eyes widened and was jerked into a fear of losing my father.
