LAUREN'S POV
-----
I waddled back to Leah’s room with gifts in my hands. I saw her talking with Luke as he sat beside her resting his back on the headboard. They both laughed and Leah hit Luke’s arm for which he flicked at her forehead. I shook my head at them.
“Guys, break it out now,” I grunted while walking towards them. They both looked up and gave me curious looks. Their eyes had fallen on the boxes in my hands.
“I already allotted Mom and Dad their gifts, time for you now,” I announced and Leah squealed.
Leah and Luke both took the gifts I gave them. They were opening the gifts at such a speed that it looked like little kids opening their birthday presents.
“You do know that I’m not going to take them back, right?” I sarcastically commented.
“I’m just very excited,” Leah muttered.
“Me, too.” Luke agreed to her and continued what they were doing.
“This is such a beautiful dress.” It was a green turtle neck, full-sleeved, body fit, knee-length, velvet dress that I had designed with my own hands.
“This is the first dress I stitched on my own. And it matches our eye colour.” I informed her and she squealed.
“This is so pretty! I love it. It is priceless to me.” She said and hugged me. I smiled at her.
“Is the suit you stitched, too?” Luke asked as he looked at the blue suit, I gave him. I nodded.
“It matches my eye colour, too! I love it, Rennie!” He exclaimed and smiled.
“I’m glad you both liked it since I had invested a lot of time in it. If you have any fitting issues, let me know.” I advised them and they nodded.
“So, this is the last gift I got for you both.” I gave them the small boxes that held one of the most precious gifts.
“Wow, it’s so beautiful,” Leah muttered as she opened the box and her eyes took in the beautiful bracelet.
“It has a green diamond for you and a blue diamond for Luke,” I muttered and showed it to them.
It was a platinum bracelet with ‘L’ initials hanging on like, like a charm bracelet. The connecting dot of the two lines of the alphabet had a single diamond settled in it.
“I love how thoughtful you’ve got, after going to London,” Luke commented and I glared at him.
“Luke, you better behave well,” Leah let out even before I could say anything to Luke. If they both took any moment to calm down, they’ll get a lot more time to spend peacefully.
“I did, didn’t I now?” He retorted and I smiled.
“When? Where? You say thank you, not comment on it.” She said bumping her shoulder to his.
"Thank you, Rennie! Happy now?" Luke said and then asked Leah. She nodded like a little child.
“Guys, what say we watch a movie? I’ll get some popcorn!” I squealed like a little kid even before they agreed to me.
“Let’s do it! How about getting some drinks too?” Leah questioned and I nodded.
“You guys settle in and get changed and I get those things sorted,” I said to them and they nodded. I walked out of the door but remembered that my phone was left inside. I was about to walk but I saw what was happening inside.
“Luke!” I saw Leah yell as she jumped on Luke’s back. He laughed and she held on to him.
“To the closet!” Leah yelled and pointed towards her closet. Luke chuckled and stepped towards the closet. I immediately took my phone from inside and stood at the same place.
Luke and Leah came out and he dropped her by the bathroom. She went inside but I saw Luke struggling to let her go.
“Will you be fine?” He asked and she pouted. I realised he was asking about her wound.
“I will if you get me my favourite ice cream. Now shoo.” She closed the door on his face. Instead of getting angry, he chuckled. He casually walked into the closet again and pulled out a towel.
“Your towel,” Luke muttered and Leah opened the door to take it. He walked towards the bed and sat down. They seemed to have gotten closer since I left.
“Get me the Mud Mississippi flavour from Baskin Robbins. Add mint chocolate and…” He walked towards the bathroom door and knocked on it.
“What flavour does Lauren like?” He asked Leah.
“Chocolate Almond.” She answered and he walked back.
“Add Chocolate almonds, and have them brought to Parker Mansion.” He said on the call.
I was looking at them like a creep. As the thought hit me, I walked away towards the kitchen.
The two of them always fought and bickered over every little thing. Luke didn’t take a moment to call when Leah asked something and he also knew what flavour Leah loved without her even saying.
Unlike me, he didn’t know mine even though I had ordered that flavour many times. And Leah had a habit of changing favourites when she found a new taste.
I felt bad that I didn’t know what flavour was her current favourite but Luke knew.
Was there something going on between them?
They both knew each other the best. I couldn’t get their image out of my head because it reminded me so much of Sean and me.
I wondered if they both even knew that they depicted a couple’s life. I hope that till the time I was here, I’d help them realise whatever feeling they had for each other.
From all the years I'd been with them, I knew Luke was very protective of Leah. We three always stayed together, so we were fine. But many times I was asked if Luke and Leah were together, but I denied all the times because they've always been best friends.
Maybe it was just friendship or maybe it was something more, they both needed to be shown a mirror so they could conclude what it was.
And I knew they were indeed a very good match.
And I would help them sort things out.
-----
When I went back to the room, carrying the food tray with me, in between the movie, I expected two people waiting for food. But instead, they both were passed out.
I kept the food on the stand. I switched the TV off and pulled the duvet to cover them lightly. It was rather very hot here than the opposite climate that London had.
I looked at them and was again reminded of Sean. I sighed. I took the food tray with me and closed the door behind me.
Was what I was thinking true?
