Chapter 25: Back at her family house

1678 Words
Jessica walked into the church hall with a heavy heart. She approached a seat and sat down while listening to the female pastor's teaching. The church is a Pentecostal church and Jessica knew that the female pastor had divorced her husband due to an infidelity issue. Jessica sniffed and cried while sitting down silently. She prayed to God for forgiveness and also prayed that Dylan would return to his senses. She missed Dylan. She missed her husband. Jessica finally stood up and went to give her offering. Later, she received a ticket to meet with the female pastor after closing hours. Staring at her ticket number 150, Jessica knew she had two kids and couldn't wait in the queue to meet with the female pastor again. She knew the female pastor wanted to advise her or speak to her concerning her husband, but she couldn't keep her kids waiting until after church closing hours. When the church closed from its service, Jessica left the building and went to pick up her two kids. She walked with them to her car and did not participate in any women's affairs in the church activities. But that didn't mean she didn't anonymously support them to build the church. Jessica got into her car with her two kids silently seated in the back seat. She drove out from the church premises and saw an usher waving to her to wait. She slowed down her car to a halt beside the road and waited for the usher to approach her. "Mrs. Robinson, aren't you going to wait to see our pastor for today?" the male usher asked her, as he was very familiar with Jessica. Jessica smiled at him friendly and replied, "No, sir, I have to go home now with my kids." "I hope all is well with you, Mrs. Robinson?" the male usher asked again. Jessica replied, "Yes, sir, thank you." "Okay, ma'am, take care," the male usher in red trousers, white shirt, and a red bow tie finally walked away, and Jessica zoomed off in her old-fashioned white car and drove ahead. She went back home to her family's house. Although it had been a long time since Jessica went home to see her parents. She knew they didn't approve of how Dylan had been treating her. Her father wasn't pleased with the fact that she agreed to use her old-fashioned car, while her mother was also irritated that she was too calm and nice to Dylan. Jessica knew that both her parents would scold her for all she had been doing and acting nicely. They expected her to be tough so that Dylan wouldn't take her for granted. She silently drove along the expressway that led to her father's villa. Her car passed the estate area that led down to Dylan's house. Soon, Jessica reached home. She slowed down and parked in front of her father's mansion gate. The security men stopped her, as they were familiar with her old-fashioned car. "Welcome, Madam," the security man in black pants, white security uniform, and a black beret on his head said to Jessica. She responds to him, saying, "Well done," and watches as he pulls the gate open. Jessica finally drove to her father's mansion premises and parked her car in the garage. "Mom, where are we?" Caleb asked, noticing that Jessica hadn't driven home to his father's house. He stared out through the car window and admired the beautiful view of the surroundings. The magnificent mansion ahead was a mighty two-story building, with a fountain at the center of the compound and beautiful flowering plants at the front of the home. Albert's Villa exuded excellence, as the mansion was painted in cream and white colors. Caleb stared back at his mother, and he heard her respond, "We are at my mummy's house. Wait, let me get down first from the car." Jessica opened her car door and got out first. She shut the door and walked over to the back door to assist Caleb and Nina in getting out. Rex Albert stood at the mansion frontage, discussing with a friend who had visited. Though Rex had bought a duplex mansion for himself, he was still living in the Albert mansion with his elder twin brother, Remy. Rex wore a wine-colored tuxedo. He looked at Jessica and smiled as he walked up to meet them, seeing Jessica approach the mansion with her two kids. Stephen Edmond, Rex's best friend, had long been admiring Jessica. He was a dark-skinned man too and had known Jessica long before she got married to Dylan as he was Rex's best friend since childhood and college days. But he was afraid to propose to Jessica, knowing that she might not take his advances seriously. With the Alberts being powerful billionaires in their city, Stephen Edmond knew he couldn't mess up with Jessica, but his heart broke into pieces when he watched her walk down the aisle and marry Dylan. He disliked Dylan and wished he was Jessica's husband, not just a secret admirer of her natural beauty. "Sister!" Rex happily hugged Jessica first as he approached them. Jessica was still holding her back handbag while Caleb and Nina nervously followed behind her. Nina clutched Jessica's leg, but Rex still carried the shy little girl in his arms. "How's my little niece doing?" Rex asked Nina as he carried her in his arms. "How are you?" Rex asked Nina again, and she blushed and replied in a low voice, "Fine." Rex smiled, and they finally walked towards the mansion frontage. "Hi," Jessica managed to wave to Stephen as she didn't want to stand outside with him. She was heartbroken and knew she had a lot of questions to answer. Mrs. Anaya Albert was in the living room downstairs of the magnificent mansion. She was with her younger sister, wearing a blue mature gown, while her younger sister was in native attire. They were discussing the women's meeting that occurred every Sunday weekend. Both women were over 50 years old, and Mrs. Rita Andrews was asking her sister about Jessica. "How about your daughter Jessica? I saw her husband on the entertainment news this morning as he showed up with my husband's niece at his launching ceremony yesterday, and he even introduced Rosie as his new woman," said Mrs. Rita. Mrs. Anaya frowned, but before she could open her mouth to respond, Jessica walked into the mansion quietly with Caleb, as Rex was still carrying Nina outside and discussing with Stephen. "Jessica..." Mrs. Rita Andrews looked surprised to see Jessica. She looked back at her elder sister and said, "And I was just asking about Jessica now." Mrs. Anaya sighed and looked away, as Jessica was the reverse of her. While she was Jessica's age, she faced a lot of backlash from some women who called and texted her phone, calling her a stingy woman and a witch for bewitching her husband, to the point that Mr. Luke Albert couldn't get aroused being with another woman. He avoided women like they meant nothing, and yet his two sons resemble him, while he's happily married. The outside women believe that Mr. Luke is a billionaire to stay faithful to his wife at home and he's surely missing out on the worldly fun. "Jessica, how are you doing? Look at my handsome grandson, Caleb. He looks so much like his father," Mrs. Rita Andrews spoke as she stood up from the executive black couch in the extravagant living room. Jessica paused in front of her mother and aunt and greeted the two elderly women, "Good afternoon, Mom, Aunt." "Jessica," Mrs. Rita hugged Jessica first and she pulled away from the hug gently and caressed Jessica's face. She said, "You look so beautiful, what's going on? Why do you look sad?" Jessica shook her head and quickly replied, "Nothing, aunt. I am fine. I came home with the kids to spend some time here." "Okay," Mrs. Rita was rendered speechless. She stared backward to look at her elder sister, to know if her elder sister had something to say to Jessica, but Mrs. Anaya sighed and said, "Welcome, Jessica. Where is Nina?" "She's outside with Rex," Jessica responded, not wanting to meet her mother's gaze. She added, "I have to go upstairs now, Mom." "Okay," Mrs. Anaya replied with a deep sigh. She didn't want to press on the topic to ask Jessica what was wrong, at least not in front of her younger sister, Rita. Having heard that Dylan shamelessly went to his company's new phone product launching ceremony with another woman, Mrs. Anaya knew the man was an ungrateful i***t, and Jessica had endured enough with him. "I have to be on my way now, sister. I hope all is well with Jessica as she looks sad?" Mrs. Rita Andrews asked again, looking ahead at Jessica as she watched Jessica enter the small elevator with Caleb, and they both went up. "She's fine. She's just emotional visiting here after a long time of being away. All is well, and you said that your husband's niece was spotted with Dylan yesterday?" "Yes," replied Mrs. Rita, still looking surprised at her elder sister's calmness. She had thought that they would call Rosie and possibly have her arrested. "Hmm, I heard that too. But Remy told me that Jessica said they're only friends, probably schoolmates. Dylan loves my daughter, and he cannot be cheating on Jessica now. So you have nothing to worry about. They're cool," Mrs. Anaya offered a fake smile to her younger sister, whose jaw dropped. Mrs. Rita gulped, closed her mouth, and finally said, "Well, that's good to hear that Jessica and her husband aren't having any problems. I even told my husband to warn his niece to stay away from Dylan and go look for her husband." "You don't have to worry yourself, sister. They're all fine. How about your daughters?" "Hmm, fine too," Mrs. Rita replied, but Mrs. Anaya could see her younger sister frowning.
