Chapter 19. Brought the strange woman home

1853 Words
Rosie sighed in relief after she heard what Dylan said. She relaxed her back on the couch and asked him, “What time is the event?” “This afternoon by 12 pm,” Dylan replied, as he also relaxed on the couch. Rosie said, "But I don't have any new clothes to attend the event with you.” “Okay, come, let's go shopping, but I was thinking after the ceremony ended. Then you will be going home with me to my house today.” “Huh!” Rosie hadn't expected that. Although she knew that Dylan wanted to take her to his house, Frederick had been behaving somehow. “Yeah, come, let's go shopping for our clothes first, as this is already 10:15 am,” Dylan said, and Rosie couldn't protest. Rosie went into the room and changed her clothes. When she stepped out, she was wearing a brown gown with flat sandals, and she followed Dylan outside to his car. Dylan got into his car and drove out to the nearest shopping complex, and he made a quick selection of a black suit since he forgot to take his clothes from home, and Rosie selected a blue gown. Rosie is also very yellow in complexion but short compared to Jessica. The saleswoman in the shopping complex wasn't so familiar with Rosie, except for Dylan, whom they knew was married to Jessica. “Isn't that Dy Mobile CEO and another pregnant lady?" One of the saleswomen muttered, and her second replied, "That's none of our business; please attend to the other customers who are arriving.” Dylan knew that plenty of fans were already staring at him and starting to gossip as they saw him with another lady, and they also saw the way that he had accompanied Rosie to shop for her blue gown. Dylan drove back home to Rosie's house again. There they changed their clothes and wore the new clothes, as Rosie's house isn't far from the shopping complex. Dylan finally drove ahead to his company with Rosie in his car. And Rosie nervously waited inside Dylan's car. After Dylan was done checking all his company's new products that were already available to be marketed at the event hall, he left his car and drove to the event hall with Rosie. Jessica was at home watching the entertainment news with Caleb and Nina, who were both beside her and disturbed her enough to change the channel to a cartoon channel. Jessica was already tired, and she put the channel back on a cartoon channel and stood up from the couch as she retired back to the master bedroom upstairs while leaving her two kids in the care of Florence. When Jessica stepped into the master bedroom, she saw her phone ringing out, and she quickly rushed to her phone and picked it up. Staring at the caller, Jessica saw it was her best friend, Esther Friday, who was calling her, and she immediately picked up Esther's call. "Hello, Esther.” Jessica spoke first, and Esther replied, "Sup girlfriend, where are you? I have been calling your line since this week, and you would rather not respond.” “I am sorry, I wasn't at home with my phone." Jessica responded, and her friend sighed. “I hope all is well, Jessica. I saw your husband arrive at the event ceremony with another lady today. What's going on, Jessica? And who is this new lady with Dylan? As I see the way that your husband is holding her closely and smiling at her sweetly like she's you, am I dreaming?" “Who are you talking about?” Jessica immediately asked Esther, confused. Esther is her best friend, and Esther's husband and Dylan were also friends because of her closeness with Esther too. “Who else, Jessica? If not, your husband! I am telling you that your husband arrived here at the event hall with this new lady. Where are you?” Esther questioned again, and Jessica sighed heavily and responded, “I am at home. Maybe she's just Dylan's friend.” “Just a friend? When does a married man start keeping another lady as his friend? Since when did all these start?” Esther continued to ask, and Jessica sighed and replied, “I am tired, girlfriend; I just got back from the hospital, and I need some rest.” “Hmm, it is well; I will come to see you after we have closed. You know that I attended the event with Derrick. If I had known that you wouldn't be here, then I wouldn't have been here either." Esther murmured, and Jessica apologized to her, “I am sorry.” “You don't have to apologize; I hope it is only friendship that you claim is going on between your husband and this short woman. As anything aside from friendship, I won't tolerate it." Esther fused, and Jessica replied, “It is okay, girlfriend. Don't let them spoil your mood; I will be expecting you after the event ends.” "Okay, dear, take care,” Esther said, as she was fully irritated with seeing Dylan and Rosie walking together like a couple. She wasn't the only one who was staring at Dylan and Rosie with irritation. Dylan took Rosie to the high table, and they sat down together there like a couple; some top guests were surprised, some had expressionless faces, and the event started. Jessica was at home, and she knew that Esther had not lied to her about Dylan cheating on her. She sighed and went to change into her blue gown. After she was through, she wore a simple brown gown. Jessica walked back to the bed and laid on it to sleep, as she was already having a headache from trying to think too much about who the new woman could be. By the time Jessica woke up, it was already evening, and she got a phone call from Esther again: "Hello, dear, I am so sorry, but I won't be able to visit your house today again. Derrick wants us to visit his parents's home today. You know it's the weekend?” “I know, and you don't have to apologize. Thanks for calling me, and send my regards to your husband,” Jessica replied, as she knew that Esther was caring for her. “Okay, but not to worry; next weekend, I will be at your home to see you. Take care,” Esther said, as she knew that she wouldn't have the chance to visit Jessica by Monday either. “Okay, bye, and take care too,” Jessica replied, and the phone call with her best friend ended. Jessica glanced at her phone screen shortly after unlocking the screen. She gasped as she saw plenty of missed calls from her brothers, and as she wanted to keep her phone down, Remy called her immediately. "Hello, sister, where are you now?” Remy's cold voice asked her, and Jessica remembered that she hadn't told her brothers yet that she had left the hospital earlier, nor had she been discharged, and she was even at home. “I am at home. Good evening, brother.” Jessica greeted her elder brother nervously. “At home, at where?” Remy asked again, and Jessica replied, "Yes, in my husband's house, of course.” “Which husband? That shameless man? You need to leave his house at once, sign the divorce papers immediately, and return home." Remy spat, and Jessica replied, "No, brother, I am not coming home. I am married and cannot divorce Dylan.” “Sister, I am not asking you to divorce Dylan. But Dylan has already divorced you, and I won't wait until he kills you first before I ask you to return home to us. Pack your bag or anything that you find important in that house; I am coming there right away to pick you up." Remy said, but Jessica wasn't happy about his proposal to come take her back home to their father's house. She said, "No, brother, Don't come to my husband's house; I am not following you anywhere." Jessica started to sob, and Remy hadn't ended the phone call yet. He said, “Sister, Are you aware that Dylan went to his launching ceremony with another woman today, and he even dared to announce to his fans and to the media and public that were trying to interview him that the woman is his new wife?” “Huh, No! I cannot believe that. She's only his friend, and Dylan is not secretly married to any woman,” Jessica cried, and the phone call went silent even more. After a while, Jessica said, “My friend called me now and told me about the lady too. But she's only Dylan's friend, and they are not dating or married.” Jessica tried to advise herself, but Remy sighed heavily first. “Hmph...” He added, "I know this is hard for you to accept, sis. But I didn't attend the event, but from staring at the photos and the media report about the launch ceremony... It is so obvious that Dylan and that lady are dating, but if you insist that they are friends, Fine, but if I get to hear any complaint from you or Dylan related to why he wants to divorce you, Then you will see me in your house, and I won't listen to your excuses. Marriage isn't by force, and you should learn to read the handwriting on the wall and know that your marriage with Dylan is no longer the same way it used to be.” “Okay, brother, Not to worry, I won't complain, but try to sort things out with Dylan; I think it is all a misunderstanding from the media misinterpreting the lady,” Jessica said. “No. That is what Dylan told them concerning his affairs with the short lady. Anyway, I will call you later to find out how you're faring. Do take care, sis, and don't forget to call me if you need anything," Remy replied. “Sure, I won't. Goodbye, big brother." Jessica sighed after her phone call with her eldest brother ended. Just then, she heard the sound of Dylan's car driving into their compound and parking. She was nervous, and she walked up to her room window to peek out first. She saw Dylan stepping down from his car. And he wasn't alone. She saw him walking up to the second side door of his car, and he pulled the car door open. Jessica's jaw dropped as she saw a lady step down from the car, and Dylan even shut the car door for this lady. As he stared at the lady sweetly and accompanied her to a side embrace, he walked with her towards their mansion frontage. Jessica immediately gasped out, “No! This cannot be happening.” She quickly moved away from the room window and went downstairs to meet Dylan and to confront him and the lady.
