CHAPTER 7
IVY’S POV
Leaving my mother, Meghan and Isaac behind was such a difficult thing. They were my only family plus my dad who had not been with us for a very long time. The only thing giving me hope right now is that I was going to get my dad out of jail and we would be one complete family.
We hugged for long as tears streamed down our faces. I loved my family so much and I was going to do all that it takes to ensure that we are as a whole again.
After promising that we would skype and talk daily, I said my final goodbyes and stuffed my staff into the taxi that was going to take me to the train station from which I would proceed to ,Mountain view town where I would take another taxi and head over to Mountain View Hospital.
I would surely miss home. I thought of this and a lump formed behind my throat when I passed by the prison. My dad is in there paying for crimes he did not commit. I swear in my life, if I grow rich enough to know who really placed him behind bars, I would surely sue them and ensure they pay for their crimes.
The thought of getting my father out of jail got to me and I felt the strong urge to do my best. I was definitely going to nail it in my work place and thus I was in full confidence when I boarded the train.
It was going to take me four hours, therefore I fished out a novel and started reading it as a way of busying myself.
This was a story of a young naïve girl falling in love with a billionaire. At first, she did not understand the billionaire, but in the end, the billionaire was just using his powers and money to show here that he really loves her.
This was crap to me. I loved emotional people. When I think of my future husband, I want a man who can show his emotional vulnerability to me. I won’t fall for men who think that power and money is everything. I want a man who show me love without using money.
I was not going to settle for less till I find that man. I broke up with my first love almost three years ago. I just realized that he was taking so much of my time and I needed that time to focus on my studies.
It was difficult at first, to leave him but when I finally come to succeed in my studies, it was worth it.
This men you meet in your late teenage hood or early twenties are just a distraction. They all are. Al you need to do this time is to build yourself up and start your own business and excel in your profession.
After you are satisfied with your success is when you start thinking of a man in your life. Your man should find you when you are already established. Men can be tempting and they can tell you all the lies to fall for them but don’t fall in that trap.
Personally, I was going to work my ass off and save some money that will bail my father out and the money should also be able to educate my younger siblings. Till my dad is out of jail and all my siblings have succeeded is when I will decide whether to start dating or not.
I was not going to be distracted. Not me.
I grew tired of just seeing trees and several houses here and there. I guess I fell asleep during this time.
I don’t know how long I slept, but it should be pretty long because I found myself at the outskirts of Mountain View Town. We were here already. I stifled a smile and looked around at the most posh estates in town. The place looked good and very elegant just like Beverly Hills.
Everything I saw made me be crystal clear that I am in one of the richest towns in the world. I was not going to waste this chance. I was going to be the best pediatrician in the world and that will encourage other girls around the world that anything is possible if you aspire and you put boys aside. The distractions I was talking about.
I grabbed all my staff and got out of the train. I called a taxi driver nearby and placed my belongings in the boot of the car.
I gave him the hospital address and he was happy to drive me there. Saying the city was just over the top is an understatement. There are so many tall buildings with unique architectural design and I swear this is the best place I have ever been to. The place is close to Dubai, which is known for the tallest and most unique buildings in the world.
“We are here Ma’am,” The taxi driver jumbled me from my thoughts and a smile perked up my lips.
“Thank you,” I gave him some cash and he helped me get the things out of the car.
I talked to the security officer at the gate and he gladly helped me in carrying my goods and led me to the servant’s quarters. The houses were so good from the outside, in one neat street and I was happy that I had gotten the opportunity to work at this beautiful place.
We [passed by some office where I showed them my identification card and they made some calls. After those many calls, they finally gave me a key to my room.
That was room 54, not quite far from the Hospital’s main gate. The security officer kept helping me till I got to my doorstep.
I tipped him and insisted to him taking when he tried to refuse and he didn’t have any other option other than to take my tip.
I blew several breaths before I inserted the key on the keyhole.
“Hi?” Just after I opened the door, the voice of a gentleman eased to my ears.
“Hi!” I turned to face him and I almost died of shock when I saw the perfect man standing in front of me.
He was well built and he was wearing a tight t-shirt that showed some of his nice and firm abs. He had spiky hair and his grey eyes just drown me to him like a moth to a flame. He was really hot. Let me not talk about his soft and pink lips that literally made heat seep through my skin making me on fire as if I was just made of paper.
“Good…” I just got his last word.
“What did you just say?” My cheeks flashed red just wondering how quick I was to get distracted.
“I am Jeff Holder, I am your neighbor just next door. If you need anything, I will be there to help.” He explained and I arched my lips upwards.
