“What the heck is wrong with Ryan, why can’t I get through to him?” Shadow inquired pacing the living room, he had wanted to notify Ryan that I left the house. He groaned and thought of heading back to the Astor's mansion but it was too late to leave the neighborhood, being a demon with invisible qualities doesn’t make them immune to dangers. He sat back on the sofa and waited for Ryan to return.

Ryan’s p.o.v.

I was growing impatient waiting for Liam to speak, he glanced around and moved closer to me, “I know why you don’t want Laura” he whispered to me with a smirk. I wasn’t stunned as I know that Liam was always snooping around trying to find things that aren't related to him.

“Is that what this is all about?” I inquired with a gloomy face. He chuckled and stepped back, “no bro, I’m just here to warn you about Laura, she is not as simple as she looks. I’d suggest you keep that your human lover off her way” he asserted sternly.

“You should keep your advice to yourself, Liam, better stop snooping around and focus on your study. This is the last time I’m paying for your sickly project” I uttered and strode past him. He opened his mouth to speak, it got shut immediately as no word came out.

“Argh!” He finally screamed and ambled to his room. I put in a lot of effort to look into Laura for you but this is what I got? Ryan, you’re really heartless. He said to himself when he got to his room.

“Ryan” Rodney mumbled something with amazement as he saw me walk into his room, he already knew that mum would persist. I stay back till dawn.

“What’s up with the demon hunters?” Rodney cracked up and patted my shoulder. I shot a glare at him, and he quivered and stopped laughing, “well, I can’t believe you bought such a lie told by mum” Rodney asserted.

“What do you mean?”

“There is no demon hunter mum just wants you to stay back” he replied, I creased my brow confused. I don’t believe mum would just lie to keep home.

“What about Lucas, I thought he was locked up by the demon elders. You have to tell me everything clearly, since I left the mansion I haven’t been getting enough information about the demon clan” Rodney explained that the new prime minister had pleaded for the release of Lucas, “the prime minister is the maternal uncle of Lucas” I nodded as I sat down on the bed, now I understand the reason why my marriage was arranged with Laura. Her father is not just a prime minister but he possesses a lot of power. I huffed while running my hand through my head, “all these have nothing to do with me from the start” I uttered and tried to leave.

“Yes, you’re the powerful Demon king, not even the prime minister can lay his hands on you but he has the backing of the elders. Six of the elders are his minions'' Rodney asserted, which made me halt. I let out a deep sigh and stepped out of the room, I threw myself on the bed, “buzz!” My cell phone vibrated on my back. I stood up and grabbed the phone, “what is it Shadow?” I inquired sternly as the call connected.

“Audrey is gone, I called earlier to notify you but I didn’t get through.”

“Where the heck is she?” I massaged my temple. “I didn’t know but she got a phone call and left the house. I have tried to follow her smell but her scent has disappeared” I gripped the phone and growled.

“What! I told you to look after the house” I checked the time, it was one a.m, I ended the call because I know that I would be more upset if I continued to listen to Shadow.

“Beep beep!” The old big alarm clock blares, waking me up from sleep. I stretched my arms and walked to the washroom. I had my bath quickly and wore the same outfit from yesterday.

“Hey, son” mum mumbled while I stepped down the stairs.

“Good morning mum” I greeted, she smiled and kissed me on my cheek.

“I’d always want it to be like this, seeing you every morning when you wake up” I hissed and told her that I was leaving.

“Won’t you stay for breakfast?”

“No, I’ll have one when I reach home. Now, I’ve got something urgent to do” she nodded sadly and moved back. I bid her goodbye and left the house.

“Good morning mum” Laura stepped down immediately after I had left and greeted mum while bowing curtly.

“No need for formalities dear, I hope you had a good night” she smiled shyly and nodded.

“Come, my dear, the servants had served breakfast. I told them to add your favorite” Laura obediently followed mum to the dining room, soon everyone was downstairs sitting in their different seats.

“Where is Ryan?” Dad inquired after glancing around the house.

“He left,” Liam responded. Dad turned his gaze at mum, giving her a questioning glare. Mum had told dad that I’m spending the night in the house, and he was stunned when he couldn’t find me in the house.

“He left this morning” mum uttered and focused on her food, the table became silent once more as everyone was on their food. Dad abruptly slammed his hand on the table, got up from his seat, and walked into his study, “relax kids, he is just tensed up. I’ll see what’s wrong, eat up” mum made a gesture with her hand and strode out of the dining room.
