Silence engulfed the room for a moment as I was thinking what had made Shadow go back to Astor’s mansion? He has always been afraid of returning to the mansion after he was sent on a deadly mission, he was on the verge of death when I appeared and saved him, since then he had sworn to serve me, we’d made an oath with his blood, that is how the demons swore allegiance to me.

“What do you find out?” I inquired with curiosity as I couldn’t pin my hand on anything.

“You will have to reverse the spell tomorrow night, if not there won’t be any solution. You would have to cope with that” he blurted out. I huffed and cursed silently as I blamed myself for all this nemesis, I guess I should have just let Audrey stay in my villa besides she hasn’t seen my true form. Now, everything is destroyed.

“I know what you must be doing now, but I would tell you now is not the best time for that. Just think of a way to reverse the hypnosis” he muttered, I hissed and gestured Shadow to leave. I needed time alone to put my thoughts together, he sighed deeply, glanced at me, and left.

“Things are getting worse than I could imagine, I only wanted to wipe her memory of me and Shadow, not make her be madly in love and obsessed with me, that's very bad.” I ruffled my hair as my mind wandered off. “What to do now, how can I get the hypnosis done without creating more trouble?” I bit my lip as an idea flashed through my mind. I smiled and lay on the bed to have a rest before visiting the Astor mansion.

I dozed off and was woken by Audrey’s loud voice, I jumped off the bed and immediately became invisible.

“What Was I thinking? Sleeping on the bed and this room which was Audrey’s current room, I nearly got myself caught” I mumbled and strode down to the living room.

“Look after the house,” I said to Shadow and left the house with a sports car. You must be thinking of how I got my cars parked at the parking lot without Audrey getting worked up thinking who the owner was, well everything that belonged to me in the villa was unseen because of the trespassers that stay in my villa, that's just like hidden in a shell.

Arriving at the old mansion after, the security personnel at the gate hurriedly let me through when he saw my car, “young master” he greeted and bowed curtly. I nodded my head and drove to the parking lot.

“f**k!” I mumbled when I got into the mansion, clenching my teeth. I arrived at the wrong moment, everyone was in the dining hall having dinner.

“Look! Ryan” Liam, who was the last child of my parents, announced my presence. Everyone’s gaze landed on me with astonishment while thinking about why I had come back to the old mansion, “mum, dad” I greeted with a straight face.

“Son, what a pleasant surprise, I have been asking Rodney to bring you back home but he failed to do that. Atlas you’re here” she muttered with a face full of smiles.

“Don’t think too much about it, I’m here to check a few things. I'll head back to my villa after that” I responded and turned towards the stairs that lead to the rooms and library.

“Don’t be rude to your mother! She’s only excited to see after a long time. You’ve refused to honor her invitation, now you’re here, you can’t even act properly towards her. What type of son are you?” Dad scolded me with a gloomy face.

“Come on dad, don’t act like you don’t know why I’m like this. You both should know better when you came up with an arranged marriage that I didn’t approve” I uttered with displeasure.

“You brat! Don’t speak to me like that. I’m your father” he warned with a face red with anger. I chuckled while shaking my head, “you guys can enjoy the meal, I’m going upstairs” I mumbled but mum refused and insisted that I have dinner with them as I haven’t been for a long time or had dinner together with them.

“But mum..”

“No buts… we haven’t had dinner together as a family after a long time, now is a great moment to have dinner together” she let out, still being insistent.

“Yes! Just join us for dinner. You can continue with what you’re doing later” Rodney said trying to help the situation, I shot him a glare with a raised brow. He shrugged and motioned me to join the table. I breathed heavily with locked eyes and decided to join the table, it was not going to hurt me, besides they were my family. I pulled out a seat and sat down next to Liam who was gawking at me with a smirk. Shortly, dinner was served around the table, I ate a handful and cleaned my mouth with a napkin. I was about to get up from the seat when I heard spurting out a few words, I sat back down immediately while tapping my feet on the floor impatiently. I can’t wait to find the book of prophecies, I thought to myself, but soon my pool of thoughts was broken.

“Oh, Ryan! Laura is here, he has been staying with us for a while. Laura, this is Ryan” mom introduced me to a lady across the table, I had no idea we’ve got a stranger in our midst, I just noticed her presence when mum introduced her as Laura, the girl from the arranged marriage. She smiled and gazed at me, “hello Ryan” she muttered excitedly. Laura seeing me for the first time was astounded, “Omg, he looks more handsome physically than in the photos” she exclaimed excitedly to herself. Laura, excited with what she had seen, was full of contentment and couldn’t wait to tie the knot with me. She greeted me diligently and introduced herself by telling me her name.

I just stared at her for a moment, trying hard to hide the contempt I feel while looking at her.

“I’ll be upstairs” I mumbled with my gaze fixed on my mother. I got up from the seat and strode upstairs without sparing Laura a glance, her face instantly turned sullen as no one has ever ignored or walked out on her.

“My dear, don’t worry about his behavior, he will come around. He is just angry because he was scolded in your presence” mum asserted. That seems to calm Laura. “I guess it’s true, he just realized that I was here when he was being scolded by Asmodeus. I believe he must be shy” she mumbled to herself with a smile plastered on her lips. She found a glimmer of hope in what my mother had said with that her mood lightened up, she ate up her food and was ready to meet me.
