Chapter 63

Stepping into the room I met Shadow standing next to the wall. “What’s this scene about?” I inquired and sat on the bed, he hissed and scolded me for making things hard but still pretend that nothing happened. “Make it clear, what did you find out?” I asked impatiently. “Well, as you know she’s the special one. The hypnosis failed because of the special qualities in her, I think you should be careful” I sighed deeply, feeling aghast as the thoughts I had were confirmed. “This is unbelievable! How can Audrey be the special one? This is impossible, I refused to believe it” I muttered suddenly while shaking my head. “Come on Ryan, this is not the time to refute my findings, I’d suggest you act fast else if the elders find out what you had done, they would try to stop you from claiming the throne” Shadow explained. “I never wanted the throne, they can take it if they want, finally I got the chance to spend time with Audrey isn’t it fair for me to enjoy it?” I arched my brow, shooting him a glare. Shadow chuckled and halted for a while, “are you even thinking about what you’re saying? This could lead to the assimilation of the Astor family. You would sacrifice your family because of a human woman, that’s so absurd. Besides, Audrey’s life would be at stake if she’s exposed to the Demons. It's not advisable to hurt your loved ones because of your selfish wants. Think about it” I gritted my teeth while taking in what Shadow had said. Although what he said was true, I don’t want any harm to come against my family, we’re known for being the most powerful family in the Demon realm but having the elders gang up against my family it’s not going to end well. However, my feelings for Audrey can’t be tamed just because of a mere prophecy, I loved her and would want to spend my life with her but circumstances had made me choose between Audrey and my family. “Hey! You have to make a quick decision, there is no time. The more you attempt to stall for time the closer you’re to the said prophesy” Shadow patted my shoulder and let out. “How can this be solved?” I inquired after a long silence. “Well, from the book I read, you have to stay away from her for now and try to find a way to reverse the hypnosis, if it is not done quickly, in two weeks it will become irreversible” I gulped hard and thought out a plan but found none. Abruptly, I heard a footsteps approaching the room, I gazed at Shadow and gestured to him to leave, he bowed curtly and left. I hurriedly shifted and became invisible just like before. Watching Audrey search for me while cursing angrily made my heart ache. I never wanted to treat her this badly, for crying out she just suffered a betrayal and heartbreak, but I can’t risk adding to her worries or making harm come to her, well I should just find a way to reverse this and set her free from all this trouble. I thought to myself while watching her unclad herself, she muttered a few words and stepped into the washroom. I took this as an opportunity to leave the house and go have a couple of drinks, to clear my mind. I strode the stairs, took my white Mercedes Benz, and left for the bar. I found a quiet spot on the countertop and sat down. “Two shots of tequila!” I asserted placing both hands on my jaw. I looked around while waiting for my tequila to arrive, and I realized that the bar was filled up. “Hey what is happening?” I turned to the guy at the countertop and asked. “Some group of people is celebrating a friend's birthday” I nodded and took shots of tequila from his hand. I immediately gulped down the shot of tequila. People were still trooping in making a hell lot of noise. “Hey!” I heard a voice behind me, I swirled my hair to find an average girl staring at me. I creased my brow, gazing at her questioningly. “Oh, I’m sorry for disturbing you. I just wanted to know if I could stay here?” She mumbled coquettishly. I nodded in response and focused my gaze on my drink. “Excuse me, Four shots of tequila,” she said to the barman, who quickly made the tequila and placed it in front of her. “I’m Dana! What about you?” She brought out her hand for a handshake which I took in my hand and placed a kiss on it. “Do you stay around Boston, I haven't seen you around” she continued to say attempting to strike up a conversation. “I’m new here just trying to know my way around” I responded following her up. We talked for a while and got to know each other, all this got us landed in a Seven-star hotel where I spent the night with Dana, we had s*x severally before retiring to bed. I stepped out of the bed when I found out she was in deep slumber, I dressed up, dropped two thousand dollars on the table, and left. “Wow! Look who is here! Where have you been all night?” Shadow asked with a crossed arm. “I went for a drink, so step aside I have no time for this” “Just a moment, have you come up with anything? I went to the Astors villa today and they’re becoming suspicious of everything, when are you going to do it?” I huffed at the hearing of Astor villa. “I think you’re better off with dad than me, get ready I’ll send you back myself” I uttered with a sneer and strode past him. He was about to speak but suddenly stopped to process his words. “What! No. You can’t send me back, I’m not only your assistant but your best friend Ryan.” Shadow was pissed that he spurted out angrily. “Why did you go back to the Astor mansion if it is not that you wanted to go back to the house?” He let out a deep sigh and notified me that he went to the old mansion to check the book of prophecies.
