“Nice to meet you, Aubrey, Audrey has always talked about you” Andrew asserted and extended his hand for a handshake.

“The pleasure is mine!” Aubrey muttered with a smile. All these formalities and talks didn’t seem to go well with Charlotte, she rolled her eyes and sneered, feeling impatient and annoyed.

The whole process didn’t escape the sharp eyes of Aubrey who quickly grabbed Charlotte's weird behavior. Aubrey shrugged and decided not to talk about it now, she moved the thoughts aside.

“Where is the birthday girl?” Myra muttered as she walked in with an unknown man.

“Don’t give me that kind of look” she uttered as she caught me glaring at her with an arched brow. I hissed and retracted my gaze, “happy birthday girls” she mumbled and embraced us. Guests started arriving shortly after the whole terrace was filled up. Everyone was present except for mum and dad, I felt bad but that was what I had to do to save myself and my dream. The party started moments later after Andrew had proposed a toast to Aubrey and me, after having a few shots of tequila, I dragged Andrew to the dance floor twirling and rubbing my ass on him. Everyone was having a good time dancing before the music went off, and it was time to cut the cake. Aubrey and I said our wishes inwardly and sliced the cake.

We got a lot of gifts from everyone, they even made us dance.

“I’ll be right back, I need to use the restroom” Aubrey whispered to me. I nodded and directed her to my room. “Do your best” she asserted and left.

She walked up the stairs casually. Abruptly as Aubrey was making her way to my room, she heard a familiar voice in the hallway. Her feet drastically pulled her in the direction where the noise was coming from.

“Oh no! I’m going to pee on myself” she mumbled and ran back to my room. She hurriedly used the toilet and walked downstairs to fetch a glass of water but was rather stunned by what she saw. Aubrey stumbled on Charlotte and Andrew who were flirting in the living room, she widened her eyes and rubbed her eyes to clear her doubts. The scene was still clear, she smirked and strode past them.

“I know something going on, Charlotte had eyes for Andrew, I have to let Aubrey know about this deceit” she mumbled as she gulped down the water. “What took you so long?” I inquired as Aubrey approached me with a gloomy face.

“I had a cup of water downstairs” she responded, I pulled her by the hand, “the guest is already leaving, we’ve got to see them off” I asserted while pulling her to the podium. “Thanks to everyone that took out time to attend our party, we’re glad” I mumbled. The guest soon left gradually while Aubrey and I were standing at the exit and bidding them goodbye.

“Finally” I heaved a sigh of relief as everything went well. I glanced around searching for Andrew but I didn’t see him. “Where did he go?” I uttered beneath my breath.

“Are you going to listen to me now?” Aubrey breaks my thoughts.

“Say it!” I placed my hands on my waist staring at her.

“Andrew and Charlotte have been deceiving you. I caught them flirting in the living room when I was going to the kitchen” my jaw dropped but I still found it hard to believe. It’s not possible that they would become a thing and I won’t find out. I shook my head in disagreement, “is not possible, maybe you didn’t see it well and you just quickly assumed it” I asserted. Aubrey gazed at me pitifully and wanted to speak but halted.

“Whatever! But be wary of those two, don’t say I didn’t warn you. Take care of yourself I’m leaving” she embraced, grabbed her handbag, and left.

I threw myself on the sofa and let out a deep sigh, I found it hard to believe what Aubrey had told me. Although Aubrey isn’t the type to lie, I still don’t want to believe that Charlotte was flirting with Andrew, they are both precious to me. “I believe it is the effect of the tequila,” I thought, biting my lip.

Hey! Why are you sitting here alone?” Charlotte asked as she approached me with a glass of juice.

“I just see some guest off with Aubrey”

“Oh! You want some” she stretched out her giving me the glass of juice. “Thanks, you can have it. Have you seen Andrew?”

“Oh, he is at the terrace. We were in the living room before” she asserted, her response immediately cleared my doubt over her, I smiled and patted her palm. “I’ll be back” she smiled and nudged me with her hand.

Walking into the terrace, the buzzing sound coming from the fireworks echoed through the whole terrace, I was stunned that I was lost in trance.

Andrew walked behind me and hugged me, “do you like them?”

“Yes, they look so beautiful. I’ve always wanted to witness the fireworks with you” I uttered with an unknown emotion.

“Happy birthday honey, I’ll always help you realize your dreams” I swirled gazing into his eyes.

“What! You look dissatisfied?” I smiled and locked lips with him, cutting his words short. I’d always know that Andrew could never try to cheat on me or even flirt with another woman. All the suspicions I had in my mind disappeared, “I love you, Andrew”

“I love you more babe, but you’re acting weird. What's the matter?”

“It’s nothing, I just felt touched after seeing the fireworks” he cracked and ruffled my hair, “Then I’ll set fireworks for you always” I giggled as I laid my head on his shoulder.
