I walked straight to my office, kept the handbag on the table, and threw myself on the couch. I tapped on the bell for notification. Addison walked in, “Miss Audrey” she greeted curtly.
“Coffee, make it darker” I ordered, she nodded and left. I sat down on the seat thinking of Charlotte's bold behavior, not that I won’t be able to get a piece of evidence that would prove my word right. I thought, resting my back on the armchair. Addison arrived moments later and placed the coffee on the table. She walked in front of the table and turned to leave when I recalled something, “has any enterprise accepted to meet with us?” I asked suddenly, making Addison come to a stop.
“This is what I had wanted to say before but she was clouded with anger. I believe the DX must have canceled our meeting” she uttered to herself and slowly turned to me. She smiled and walked to the table, “DX wanted to meet with us before planning any corporation.” She responded blankly.
“What are you waiting for? Set up a meeting place and time with them” she creased her brow glaring at me like I have a smear on my face.
“What! Go and get the work done” I asserted, Ryan chuckled and shook his head disdainfully. “So bossy! I wonder why this brilliant girl is wasting her talent with this bossy woman?” He lamented to himself and decided to get back home as he had already seen enough drama for the day. He vanished from the office and returned to the villa. Apparently, he was mad at me for choosing to love a nuisance. He has been thinking about who Andrew was and finally, he met him and wasn’t pleased. He swore to protect me at all costs.
“Wow! Look who is back” Ryan hissed as he heard Rodney’s voice in the living room. “What the heck is he doing here?” He thought to himself as he walked into the house, Ryan shot Rodney a glance and ignored him. He made his way to the banister but was stopped by his brother Rodney.
“Man! What’s the matter with you? I’ve been here all day long waiting for you and all I get is silence?” He inquired, blocking Ryan from going upstairs.
“What’s the matter, Rodney? I have no time for your bickering” he asserted and relaxed his back on the banister.
“Well, Laura is at the mansion and mom wants you back” Rodney let out, I sneered and ran my hand through my hair.
“You must be joking, I had already told them I won’t have anything to do with Laura, leave if there is nothing else” I ordered sternly with an expressionless face.
“Don’t do this! This is for the demon clan.” He shouted, Ryan, paid no attention to him and walked inside the room.
“f**k! What’s the matter with him?” Rodney turned to shadow and asked. He shrugged as he was also confused at Ryan’s aggression. Rodney glared at the stairs, huffed, and vanished.
Being Ryan’s assistant, he had a feeling that something was odd with him but he couldn’t pin his hand on it. He tiptoed to the room and slowly pushed the door open. Ryan was pacing the room lost in thought.
“I know you’re there” he asserted as he halted. Shadow chuckled awkwardly and stepped into the room, “I just wanted to check on you, there is nothing else” he said to Ryan who turned to face him. “Where do you think you’re going? Since you’re already here, stay!”
“Uhm... I don’t think this is a good idea," Shadow responded hurriedly.
“I’m your master and I command you to stay” he uttered with a raised tone that made Shadow afraid of his rage. Shadow nodded tremendously, walked to the bed and sat down.
“There is this, my friend that needs advice, I’ve thought so much about it but couldn’t think of anything” Ryan abruptly said to shadow after having a deep thought.
“Go on” he smirked and motioned him to continue, although he was aware that Ryan wasn’t the type that kept close to the other demons, this was why he moved out from the mansion.
“Well, my friend met a woman who was different from him. At first, he wanted to send her away but suddenly he starts feeling some weird connection towards her, he also feels the need to protect her from any harm. So my friend wants to know if he is plagued or possessed by a cunning spirit?” He inquired with a face full of his expectations as he waited for Shadow's response.
“This situation is simple, you love her, that's it. We demons strongly feel attracted to the ones we love, we have the urge to follow them and be with them always” shadow made a quick response.
“What! How can I love that damned girl? No, it’s impossible” Ryan muttered to himself and abruptly realized what Shadow had said. “Nonsense! What made you think I was speaking of myself? My friend is the one passing through this phase not me” he retorted trying to defend himself, he literally sent shadow out of the room and locked the door, “don’t even try to sneak back in” he warned and sat on the grinning. However, the smile on his face froze the moment a thought hit his mind, “demons and humans don’t blend” he groaned angrily and lay on the bed. “Audrey was the only salvation I had not to end up with Laura” he added feeling distorted.
“Creak!” The door to my room was pushed open, I stepped in and threw myself on the bed, “today was a bad day, I wonder if a Jinn was following me all day?” I thought with my eyes closed. “I failed to meet the DX today, I’ve such a good chance” I groaned while massaging my temple. Ryan, who was laying beside me, turned and fixed his gaze on me.
