Chapter 47

1038 Words
After having enough rest, I entered the washroom and had my bath. I released a deep breath and relaxed my mind. “I’ll try again tomorrow, I believe things will turn out for the best. I thought to myself as I dried my body, I wore a white bathrobe and stepped out of the green washroom. ~Ryan~ I haven’t gotten myself since I set my eyes on Audrey. I had wanted to kick her out of the apartment but something in me had been against it. I’d always felt like protecting and watching her. Today, I decided to follow her to work after I had read the proposal which she had got for her store, and I found it appealing. I’d thought of assisting her but rather I was angered when I realized she still has feelings for Andrew who has betrayed her and made out with her friend Charlotte. However, I barely understand why I feel this way so I had to leave the store and go back home to rest my mind and think about the weird feeling that was growing inside me. Unbeknownst to me, I stumbled into Rodney who came to inform me about “Laura” the bride that my parents had prepared for me. I had already declined their request, I wonder why they kept pestering me? I still have two brothers who are still single and will also be good for Laura. Rodney attempted to block my way and insisted that I should go back with him to meet Laura. That added to me the anger which has grown in my heart. “You’re also from the Astor family and have reached the age of marriage.” I asserted, glancing at him, “I believe you will make a great couple, you should marry her. It’s still the same our clan would be grateful for your sacrifice” I let out with sarcasm and shoved her aside. He staggered aside with a creased, confused at my bizarre attitude. I had never acted off with my brothers, they’re my family and I love them. I can’t sit back and watch anything happen to them. But to marry against my will is what I’ll never do. I can’t jump into a contracted marriage and end up miserable. I thought to myself and strode up to my room that has been converted into a weird feminine room by Audrey with a gloomy face. I hissed, walking around the room while pondering about the weird feeling that was developing in my heart when I felt shadow's presence. I know he must have also noticed my weird behavior as he was my assistant, who had sworn a blood oath to serve me till eternity. Although I wanted to ignore him at first I decided to ask him in. At least to ask his mind about the weird feeling in my heart. I quickly explained everything to him, he widened his eyes staring at me with shock. But that did last for long as he immediately retraced himself and cleared his throat. He clearly told me that I had grown feelings for Audrey which I found unbelievable. Abruptly I realized what he had said and immediately denied it and notified him that I wasn’t the one in need of advice. He nodded with a sneer, it’s obvious he didn’t believe what I told him, I groaned inwardly and asked him out of my room as I was trying to save my face. “I can’t believe that it’s written all over me” I hissed and sat down on the bed. Slowly I smiled as I realized that I had fallen for someone who could save me from all this Laura issue, at least mom and dad won’t worry or think about ways to make me marry a half-demon. Suddenly it clicked in my mind that Audrey was a human and the demon tribe doesn’t accept a human bride. I huffed as my smile fell and turned gloomy. I threw myself on the bed with my face up to the ceiling lost in thoughts when I heard a loud creak at the door. I turned my gaze to the door and saw Audrey walking into the room with a stressed-out and sullen face. She laid down, braided me, and let out a loud groan. It turns out that she had lost a client who would be able to change the fate of the Rey Grandeur apparel. That made her mood worse as she recalled the guts, her best friend Charlotte had to speak back at her. I turned towards her watching her well-sculpted face which was not supposed to be gloomy and sighed. “I’ll be sure to put a smile on your face,'' I mumbled to myself and was about to caress her face when she sprang up from the bed and strode to the washroom, which hung my hand in the air. I breathed heavily, got up from the and moved to the balcony. I took out my cell phone and dialed Rodney’s number, it ranged many times before it got connected. “What took you so long to answer?” I inquired immediately that the call had connected. “What made you think you have the right to ask me that?” He sighed and retorted in a serious tone after being silent for a while. “That’s not how you speak to your elder, Rodney. Besides, you understand all this, why are you still going on such errands for mom?” He hissed and ignored my question, he inquired why I had called as he knew that this was not the reason why I called him. “I want to know everything about the DX Group, check it now!” I ordered. “Wait a moment, you called me to order me around, because you’re the CEO doesn’t mean that I’ll dance to your tone.” He barked back. I rolled my eyes, Rodney has always been the hard type. He would try as much as possible to get back at anyone that mistreated him and he’s also hard to speak to but I could easily tame him and put him in place.
