Chapter 11

“How can I do that honey? I was wasted yesterday and I’m still in bed. Where are you now?” I inquired while massaging my throbbing head which must have been a hangover caused by getting drunk. “Well, we just landed not long ago and I’m just stepping out of the airport. Should I come straight to Harvard?” I swallowed hard, “no, just find a restaurant nearby and wait for me. I’ll be there in a bit” I ended the call after we’d scheduled our meeting point. “Hey! Babe, wake up” I nudged Andrew while patting him gently on the arm. He groaned painfully and rolled to the other side of the bed. “Come on babe, you’ve got to wake up” I persisted. He hissed and got up from the bed, “can’t I sleep or have a good rest peacefully? It is too early for all these” he lamented while rubbing his sleepy eyes, he looked quite charming in this state. “I’m sorry for cutting your sleep but look, Charlotte has arrived and I’m going to pick her up from the airport” I asserted, he dropped his hand on the bed while gazing at me with clear eyes. “No need to panic, you can freshen up and stay here. I’d wanted to introduce you to my friend Charlotte, I bet now should be perfect.” He shook his head in disapproval. “That’s not the case, today is Monday remember. I have to report to the company, now I’m going to be late” I widened my eyes as I knew that this was going to be bad. I quickly checked the time and it was seven o’clock. “Freshen up quickly, you can still make it,'' I urged. He stared at me with indecisiveness. “Go on” I ordered sternly. He got down from the bed and headed to the washroom. “What about your friend, ain’t you gonna get her?” He halted abruptly and inquired. “Just go, I’ll handle it” he nodded and went into the washroom. I let out and ran up to my room, I quickly had my bath and wore a blue denim jean skirt that stopped at my thigh, white sleeveless, and a knee boot. I tied my hair into a bun and ran out of my room as I was already late. “Andrew!” I called while stepping down the stairs but there was no response. I hurried to the guest room but he wasn’t there, “could he have left?” I thought as I left the house. “Beep!” I got a text message notification. I saw a cab that just dropped someone in the area and stopped it. “Logan airport” I muttered and entered the cab. Atlas, I had the time to check my phone to find out I had a message notification from Andrew which says, “Hey, I couldn’t wait on you because you were still in the washroom. See you later, Andrew” I locked my cell phone and placed it in my Chanel handbag. Shortly after we arrived at the Logan airport, I paid the cab driver while dialing Charlotte's number. I staggered and nearly fell as I got off the car in a rush, I felt a grip on my waist which startled me. I thought who it was but I got swayed immediately after the call connected. I mumbled a quick thanks and ran in the direction that Charlotte had told me. “Omg, Charlotte. I’m so sorry” I uttered as I walked up to her. She was sitting on a seat with a cup of coffee placed on her table. “Young lady, you kept me waiting for a long time and I’m not happy” she seemed quite gloomy which means that I have to make her happy somehow but I had no idea how to do so. “Come on Charlotte, I’m sorry. I promise to treat you to a nice dinner, how about that?” She beamed and gripped my wrist. “That will do” she let out. “Let’s go then” she grabbed her bag and followed me out of the coffee shop. I boarded a cab back to my apartment in Newbury. “Wow, is this where you stay?” I nodded in response. “Omg, Audrey. I thought you were staying in the hostel, how come you’re staying here?” I chuckled and shoved her into the elevator. “I just moved in yesterday” I explained halfway as I don’t want to go into detail with her yet. It’s not everyone that knows about my plans and I wouldn’t want my parents to find out and come searching for me. “Ain’t you going back to the Wellington mansion?” She inquired with curious eyes. “Charlotte, freshen up first we can catch up later. We’d have a lot of things to discuss” she nodded casually. I sighed as I typed in my door pin, she ambled behind me as I stepped into the house. “Nice apartment you have here” she glances around the house with astonishment. “Yes, now I’ll show you to your room” I asserted and took her to one of the two remaining rooms upstairs. “Thanks, Audrey, I would’ve been feeling downcast and stranded without you” “Come on, this is also your house. We’re best friends Charlotte. I should be there for you always. Go on and have your bath” I muttered and stepped out of the room. I walked down to the living room and thought of checking up on Andrew. “Hey! How did it go, did you get scolded by your superior?” I asked as the call got connected. “Everything went well and I was not scolded by anyone. Listen! I’ll speak to you later I’m busy with work” “Oh! Fine, speak to you later then” I mumbled and disconnected the call. “And who are you speaking to in a calm voice” Charlotte walked over and sat down on a sofa that was opposite me while she gave me that glare that says “are you hiding something from me” I huffed and dropped the phone on the couch.
