Chapter 2

For Robin, day after the weird date started with a phone call. She groaned and picked it up. “What?” She said and there were multiple sighs on the other end of the line. She looked at the caller ID and it was from Iris. She is always the one most interested in the latest updates about everything.  “Was it that bad?” Iris said, and Robin chuckled. “Does my tone say otherwise?” There was a groan from Iris’s side and shuffling. “You really need a decent f**k. You know? Your morning attitude is not cutting it for me.” Blair said. Blair and Iris live in the same neighbourhood so it was regular for one of them to call the other would take charge of the whole conversation.    Robin rolled her eyes and put her phone to the speaker as she got up. “If I needed a good f**k, I would have gone to Margo.  Besides you are the ones who set me up with this dipshit. If anything, it’s your fault.” She opened the window and cold air made her skin get all weirded out. Blair laughed and Iris made ‘Lalala’ sounds to stop hearing about Margo and her f*****g skills. Immature children. Thought Robin. Margo and Robin have an open relationship, even though Robin hated to call it relationship as it was about mutual pleasure and sometimes food.   “What happened, though? He looked like any human guy and had muscles arms and I was like well maybe Robin will like it.” Iris defended her choice of male for the blind date.    On one drunk night, all the girls made Robin swear to go on blind dates. Each of the girls would choose someone and Robin will just follow through with it. To be honest, Robin was enjoying the concept of the blind date. Could be a nice way of letting off steam or maybe finding someone to get by and try things out.  It was rare for Robin to go on a date with a guy, so girls were eager to know everything.  She was open about liking both men and women, but these days, she felt more attracted to women than men. That man was the embodiment of everything she hated about the male population of the world. She explained the date in short as she washed her face and teeth. Girls nodded and provided their reactions such as ‘eww’ and ‘f**k him’.    “Oh, and the worst part is there was another shithead who literally came out of nowhere and got himself beaten up,” Robin said she remembered his face and that cocky look. She rolled her eyes at the thought of him as girls begged for more details. “I think it was the guy, you know, uhhhh... Wren’s younger brother.” Robin moved her hands around as she tried to remember his name. Wren is another Alpha offspring she also has an older brother- Axel who is the next in line to the throne.    “Oh, he has a weird name wait,” Blair said and Robin can picture her thinking face with her hand twisting hair strands. “Wilder.” Said Iris suddenly and everyone made an ohh sound. “Yeah, so i***t Wilder decided he needed to take part in the botched attempt of a date and even tried to sound cool about it with all sweetheart bullshit.” Blair laughed. “Funny of him to think that he can beat someone up.” After all, Blair was the best at fighting out of all of them. That's how they knew Wren, actually. Blair and Wren are in the top tier of pack training.    “Anyway, I just paid for my damned sandwich and left those idiots to it.”  Robin finally finished the retelling of the weird story. They made a few more jokes about the human male and then the topic was changed.    Iris cleared her throat. “So, Hope and her mate. What do we think?” Robin sighed. “Well, I could go on another rant about how we are too young for commitment responsibilities but you already know everything that I think.” Let alone allow a goddess to push these patriarchal norms down my throat. She wanted to say but didn’t. Even if she was Moon Goddess and not a God, she still chose the men’s side. Women have to yield to the bond of mates, women have to carry pups and abandon their lives as soon as they discover their mates. Women have to be on the bleachers while men still get to be in the game.      “Ok, let’s save this conversation until we meet the guy and then pass our judgements on to him,” Blair suggested. “You guys want to head out to the city. Last few days of freedom.” Iris said and everyone agreed. In a week they were all going back to pack training and studies. Iris was taking classes about herb mixtures and medicine, she wanted to be one of the pack doctors, while Blair was solely focused on being best at beating people up. Before finding her mate, Hope wanted to take up lessons of managing pups or work in the daycare. Robin hoped she was still able to pursue her dreams.    While everyone was going back to their stuff robin was going to be training and working here and there while she focuses on her own project- architecture and design.    Girls hang up and agreed to meet in the mall in an hour. Robin checked herself in the mirror. “I am too good to be left on the bleachers.” She spoke into the quiet room.
