When an HR manager knocked, Damon was still working with his assistant and secretary in his room. He did not raise his head when the door knobbed spun. Then it opened, and Damon smelled something.
Damon’s assistant, Hilgers Montana, walked toward the manager before consenting. After their quick tour, some of the recruits would meet the CEO. Damon then slowly raised his eyes. The most important thing was that someone’s blood had attracted his nose.
“Sir, here are the new staff,” Hilgers told Damon. Damon put his sharp, distant look at all the seven new staff, including Lavender, who stood at the end of the right line.
“Sir, we are ready to boost the newest product this month," said the secretary, interrupting Damon. Damon quickly raised his left hand as a sign that she had to stop talking. He was still examining a girl in front of him. He should have paid the head and said a brief greet, yet he'd drifted off.
"Sir?" Damon whirled, expressing his displeasure at the disturbance. He stood, then walked in front of the line of the recruits. He examined each of their smiles, then his side eyes stopped at Lavender. He came to her, but Lavender had no guts to stare at him.
"What is your name?" he asked coldly.
“IBM Lavender Ravens, Sir.”
“Why don’t you raise your head at me? Do you think I’m a monster?”
Lavender quickly raised her head with widened pretty orbs at Damon. Damon struck in motion. He could barely move right now. Her tempting eyes had put him in trouble. It was something he had never felt before.
“No, Sir.” It took seconds for Lavender to respond to Damon quickly. Lavender was on the verge of fear. Damon was the same man who turned out to be a beast in her dream. It made her scared and pale.
"I want all of their information before they work." Damon turned to the HR manager giving his order.
“Yes, Sir.” The manager straightly said.
The new staff then left the room, but Damon did not move. He kept staring at Lavender until she finally went out. Hilgers frowned at his boss’s actions. But he held himself from interrogating in front of the secretary. After the work was done and none left, Hilgers decided to ask.
"What's the matter, sir? Do you know one of them?" he asked Damon, referring to the new staff who had just left.
Damon sighed, then drew closer to Hilgers, "I found her," he said.
"Who?" Hilgers also lowered his pitch. Damon then came closer and seriously whispered.
"My mate." Hilgers suddenly enlarged his eyes.
"What?!" he shouted, quite surprised.
"She was one of the new staff. The girl is named Lavender Ravens." Damon pointed towards the floor, where Lavender was standing.
“Her scent is still in this room now,” Damon added. Hilgers nodded understandingly. He leaned closer and whispered again.
"Then what about the dinner plan tonight? Your debtor is ready to meet, right?" Damon nodded slowly.
"I don’t need to see another girl, do I? I just found my mate. I don’t need wedding arrangements anymore.” Hilgers smiled and nodded understandingly.
"I'll tell the restaurant manager to cancel the appointment. He will call Mrs. Sandra Wales to let her know then," said Hilgers, taking his phone.
“Don’t forget to ask Mrs. Minerva about Miss Raven's complete details.” Hilgers nodded again.
Meanwhile, Lavender had lost her focus after meeting with the CEO. Her hands were icy as her thoughts lingered on the man she had met earlier. He was the beast in her dream. Lavender’s heart beat faster, and she got anxious.
"Who is that man?" Lavender muttered worriedly. After the meeting, her enthusiasm waned, and she lost her cheerful smile.
In the afternoon, Lavender had to hurry home to keep her promise. Her brother, Ethan, came to pick her up. Sandra was glaring when she came home. Sandra was getting mad because her plan was ruined. The wealthy man she planned to arrange the wedding with Lavender had withdrawn it.
“This is because of you!” Sandra pointed at Lavender, who had just come home. Lavender frowned, then slightly glanced at Ethan.
“What happened?” Ethan asked confusingly.
“If you didn’t go to work today, he would not cancel the dinner.”
Both Ethan and Lavender were shocked. They looked at each other, and the joy slowly sipped inside Lavender’s heart. She felt so relieved. But Sandra did not let her take the glee too long.
"There's still more to come. I will take you to his house to arrange the wedding date." Sandra added sarcastically.
“What?” Lavender half shrieked. Sandra was unsympathetic. She raised her eyebrows arrogantly and ordered Lavender to change her clothes.
“Get your most beautiful dress. And don’t run, or you will never like what I’m going to do.”
Lavender was getting sad now. Ethan had a long, annoying sigh when seeing his aunt. He was trying to make money so he and his sister could live outside the house. He could not stand her attitude anymore.
“I’m sorry, Lavy. Maybe I will try to talk to Aunt Sandra about it,” Ethan consoled Lavender. Lavender bitterly smiled. She suddenly recalled her nightmare about a beast that looked like her CEO. Somehow, it shivered her down to her spine. She wanted to forget it.
“It’s okay, Keith. I can go with Aunt Sandra. It won’t be harmed, right?” Ethan only smiled bitterly.
“Let me come with you, then.” Lavender smiled and nodded before going to her room to change her dress.
Ethan took Lavender to an elegant mansion, as the address said. Lavender does not smile at all. Her thoughts diverge as she hates to see her future husband. But on the other hand, she is also thinking about her future at Hummer Enterprise.
When they arrived, some guards escorted them to the living room. The modern style and lavishness were around, and it mesmerized Lavender.
"You are very lucky to have a wealthy future husband like him. Look at this place. I can't imagine how big this house is. They are indeed real tycoons," said Sandra, amazed by the room. Lavender frowned confusingly at Sandra. Suddenly, a hum interrupted her.
“Mrs. Wales, what are you doing here?”
