Chapter 1. Bad Encounter

1272 Words
“Oh my God!” Lavender squealed happily. She had just received an email from a famous company, Hummer Enterprise. The company has accepted her as the new staff designer. “Ethan, look! I got it. I got the job from Hummer Enterprise!” Ethan left his chair immediately and glanced at Lavender’s cell phone to read the email. Broadly grinning, he gave his sister a hug of congratulations. He was grinning widely and proud. “Oh, congratulations, sweetheart. You did it. Oh, I’m so proud of you!” says Ethan, hugging Lavender. Lavender was thrilled to get into the job. Moreover, she was only a fresh graduate, thus hardly able to get a job now. “Thank you very much. You always support me,” Lavender grinned happily at her brother, Ethan. Lavender’s remarkable intelligence, generosity, and achievements especially thrilled Ethan to see her progress in the future. Her dream of becoming a well-known interior designer will come true. Hummer Enterprise is a famous company today. She is making her way through precious experience of working there. Suddenly, Sandra came to scold her, “What is it?” Sandra frowned, not liking to see Lavender happy. However, Lavender still showed a different manner, although her aunt mistreated her. “Aunty, look. Hummer Enterprise accepts me. I’m going to work tomorrow. I am so happy!” Lavender squeaked broadly and then showed Sandra the email she received. Sandra skimmed the email and glanced at Ethan, who looked sourly at her. “I don’t care who you work for. I have another plan for your future. Trust me, it is better than any job you will have at the company. It’s insurance.” Sandra rebukes Lavender. Lavender immediately turned flat. Even Ethan scrutinized his sharp eyes on Sandra and looked suspicious. “What insurance?” Lavender asked. Sandra half threw Lavender’s cell phone down on the dining table like she was pissed at the situation. She turned to Ethan and then glared back at Lavender. “Since you live in my house and I pay for your life, you must obey me. Someone has proposed a wedding to you,” Sandra orders tensely, like an employer. Ethan opened his mouth in disbelief. Meanwhile, the joy that had appeared in Lavender disappeared instantly. “What?” Lavender murmured confusingly. “Yes, we are having a special dinner tomorrow. Thus, I want you to prepare yourself,” Sandra said as she crossed her arms, pressuring Lavender to do as she wanted to. Ethan stood immediately and wanted to talk, but Sandra quickly stopped him. “Do not confront me, young man. You’re supposed to talk to your sister about it.” Lavender turned to Ethan quickly. She says disappointingly, “You knew it?” Ethan wanted to open his mouth again, but his annoying Aunt put him on the wrong side. “Yes, he should tell you about it. Don’t you, Ethan?” Sandra cut arrogantly and turned to go back to her room. Lavender was still staring at her brother and sat on the chair slowly. She looked upset, which made Ethan feel guilty. “I’m sorry, Sweetheart.” Though Lavender has an annoying thought about her aunt, she has to sleep early. Tomorrow was her big day, and she did not want to miss it. She recalled Ethan saying before she walked to her room that she should not think about the wedding plan so much. When Aunt Sandra saw her achievement, she might withdraw the idea. Anything could have happened. As she hardly thought about it, Lavender finally slept. Hence, there was a nightmare that bugged her for the last few days. As she pulled into a deep sleep, the dream came again. His breath roared closer, frightening Lavender even more as the man approached her when his nose tip nearly touched hers. Lavender held her breath as if she were going to die. His golden-brown eyes captivated her by pushing. The man then hisses, “Stop squirming, little flower. I won’t let you go,” without blinking his eyes, frightening Lavender as he restrained her body. “Who are you? I don’t know you,” Lavender answered fearfully. He stroked her flawless skin with the tips of his fingers, then took hold of her jaw. She opened her eyes wide immediately. The breath stopped. This time, she will die. “You know me well, Little Flower.” The man’s loud hissing continued. Lavender still shook her head, but the man grinned broadly. “You are my mate, and I will enjoy your body now.” “No, please don’t. Let me go!” Lavender attempted to scream. Yet, her voice did not seem to want to come out. The man grew farther away and suddenly transformed into a hideous beast. She slammed her eyes closed. He bit Pearl’s neck painfully when she cried out at the top of her lungs. “No!” Lavender panted heavily as the dream seemed so natural. She then covered her face while trying to console her breath. It was reality, and the beast only happened in her dream. Instead of thinking about the wedding plan, Lavender was ready early in the morning and was about to leave for her first day of work. When Sandra saw it, she did not like it. “Why are you still going to work? You have to prepare yourself for dinner tonight,” Sandra scolds Lavender. Lavender did not want to argue with Sandra, so she continued to put documents in her bag, saying nothing. “Aunty, I’ll be late,” she replied sweetly, avoiding the argument. “I warned you, Lavy. Don’t you dare to leave!” Sandra got angrier as she put her hands on her hips. “Do you know the consequences if you don’t obey me? You will never be able to leave the house again. I will lock you up in your room.” Sandra gritted to threaten Lavender. Her eyes bulged with a sinister look. Fortunately, Ethan came to save her quickly. “She’ll be back before dinner, right, sweetheart?” says Keith, defending his sister. Lavender whirled at Ethan and nodded. “You tried to escape, right?” Sandra accused suspiciously. “I’ll pick her up later; don’t worry. Come on, Lavy,” Ethan says to save Lavender from Sandra. She nodded with a big grin and instantly turned to leave with Ethan. Sandra was getting more annoyed, although she could not bear it. But the two had left just now. “Thank you for saving me. I love you both so much, Ethan.” Lavender kissed Ethan on the cheek once she got into his car. “I know. Don’t forget to put your belts on.” Lavender arrived at the company in such high spirits. The HR manager then took her and some recruits on a quick tour to meet the CEO. Lavender admired the grandness of the Hummer Enterprise, which inspired her to work harder to achieve her career path in the future. “This is the CEO’s room. We will meet Mr. Damon Hummer!” says the manager, then opens the door and asks all the staff, including Lavender, to walk in. “Oh my God, I think he’s not a human. He is very handsome.” Some staff members whispered praise, and Pearl overheard them. She did not know who it was until a man came in front of her. Lavender gasped, and her eyes widened. The man’s face was obvious as he stared at her sharply. He was the beast in her dream of last night.
