The Mafia’s Endgame

| 10 | You need to leave, right now.

As soon as Emeliana answers the phone, she puts in on loudspeaker and faces Luca, both of them prepared to hear what Amethyst has to say.

“Amethyst…” Emeliana calls out swiftly, a serious frown now appearing on her face as she pays careful attention to whoever might respond to her.

“Emeliana… thank God…” They both hear the sound of Amethyst’s vice, making Emelina let out an exhale through her nostrils as she glances at Luca, finding him paying as much attention as she is.

“You need to leave, right now. They’re onto us…” Amethyst then says before Emleiana has the chance to answer any questions. Emeliana pauses for a second, not wanting to be s quick to believe what Amethyst is saying considering the amount of times Amethyst has lied to her.

“Us… Amethyst… if this a trick…” Emeliana warns carefully but she doesn’t have the chance to finish off her sentence. Instead Amethyst swiftly interrupts her, letting her know how dire the situation is.

“There’s no time for this Emeliana. I’m telling you the truth…”

“I found out the truth from Aurelio. The location I mentioned, your brothers are still there right now. I took his phones so he won’t be able to contact whoever is there, just to buy us some time but you need to hurry...” Amethyst speaks rapidly as Emeliana and Luca listen carefully.

“I don’t think you want to gamble on your brothers’ lives. Get a task force and go, you need to get your brothers. Now! I’m gonna try and lay low for a bit, they’re going to be after me… and you. Your people need to be prepared, they might go straight to you especially now that they know I’m working with you again…” Amethyst lets out quickly and in the background, she can hear the sound of an engine running and from what she is hearing, it sounds like she is speeding.

Emeliana remains silent once again, thinking carefully of what to tell Amethyst. She got the information that she wanted, and right now she can tell Amethyst is in a panic, so what she is saying must be true. Emeliana has no choice but to take Amethyst’s word for it…

“Come to the Manor. Hurry…” Emeliana decides and Luca squints his eyes at her, not being sure if that’s the right call to make. But Luca knows this isn’t the time for him to question her decisions.

“Okay… I’ll see you soon…” Amethyst rushes out once again and in a matter of seconds, the call cuts, just as Emeliana lowers her hand and keeps her eyes on Luca. In a matter of seconds, Emeliana begins calling each of her people, summoning them to her office with great urgency, and not after long, Demetrio, Cartelli, Adriano, Oro and June finally pile into her office, each of them receiving Emeliana’s message, but not of them being sure of…

“What’s going on..?” Demetrio questions as soon as the group assembles, each of them glances around each other curiously before they focus on Emeliana and Luca.

“Load up enough weapons. Cartelli, Oro you’re with me. Grab 6 of our strongest guys…” Emeliana immediately commands and still they are waiting for her to explain what is going on.

“We’re going to get Emelio and Franky.” She finally answers them and Demetrio’s eyebrows rise in surprise just as he purses his lips together and sighs quietly.

“I’m going with you..” He insists but Emeliana shakes her head at him.

“No… You and Adriano watch over things while I’m gone. You guys need to be prepared. Amethyst turned on Aurelio, so there’s going to be people after her. We need to be ready in case they come here. Tell everyone to be on standby, in case anything happens…” Emeliana explains to them and though Demetrio doesn’t like the idea of not being able to accompany Emeliana on the mission, he knows that she needs him here, and so that’s exactly what he’ll do.

“Okay…” Demetrio answers reluctantly, and that’s when Emeliana gives him a nod of approval. Emeliana then turns to Luca, her expression softening, causing her grip on her emotions to loosen. Suddenly, she feels a wave of fear rush through her body. Fear of what might happen to her if this mission doesn’t go well… fear of what might happen to her brothers.

“Luca…” Emeliana then calls out to him and she doesn’t need to say much for him to know exactly what’s on her mind.

“You don’t have to ask. I’m with you.” He then says and Emeliana nods at him as well before she exhales, allowing herself to finally gain control of her emotions again.

“Let’s go save my brothers…” She says with determination, and with that they all nod at her in confirmation, beginning to pile out of the room just as Luca remains standing close to her. being the last one to leave.

“I love you.” He tells her and Emeliana walks up to him and embraces him carefully and that’s when he feels that her body is trembling with fear.

“I love you…” She answers him before pulling away and looking up at him. Luca knows how nervous he is, so he will try his best to make sure he protects her during this mission, whatever it takes…

Emeliana and her task force roll out of the mansion and proceed to the location Amethyst had provided for Emelio and Franky. According to Amethyst, they might already know they’re coming, so they need to be prepared. Oro drives the large SUV with Cartelli sitting in the passenger seat, paying attention to the GPS leading them to their location.

Emeliana sits in the backseat with Luca, an assault rifle in Luca’s lap while Emeliana holds onto a set of pistols, having become used to them from all her practice… and use in the field. The car is silent as they pull up to the location, and as they approach they notice armed guards standing at the entrance, and there’s unfortunately only one way they are going to get into the compound. The car in front of them leads the way, and they wash as two men peer out of the windows and point their guns at the men standing on duty. Without warning, they begin firing, dropping them instantly before they can have the chance to alert anyone else.

The car in front of them then drives right through the gate just as Emeliana and Luca prepare for whatever is waiting for them on the other side. The car drives to the front of a modern house and comes to a screeching halt, just as everyone begins piling out.

“Stay close to me…” Luca tells Emeliana and Emeliana, understanding that she still needs more experience in the field, despite being a Donna, nods her head at Luca at remains standing behind him, clutching her rifle to her chest as the gunfire continues in the distance.

Luca then nods at her before he steps closer to her, grabs her cheek and places a kiss on her forehead, shutting his eyes for a split second before pulling away to nod at her. With that, the two of them along with the rest of their team advance, staying on high alert as they make their way to the inside of the house where more armed men seem to be piling out.

All this security leads Emeliana to believe that her brothers, are definitely here, otherwise, what would all of them be protecting…
