Waking up next to my mate would have been an amazing feeling. That is, if she was actually
there when I woke up.
Rubbing my head, I frown and internally cuss at myself. I can't believe I let a tv show convince
me she was here. Hallucination much?
What's even worse is that I woke up naked, so I probably tried to hump my pillow like a
dumbass on drugs.
At lea-
"Good morning, love. Here are your chocolate, strawberry, and lemon waffles topped with
Nutella drizzle, powdered sugar, blueberries, strawberries, whip cream, and my special
ingredient of extra love."
Stormie's smiles brightly as she straddles my lap and holds the plate up for inspection.
True to her chef mastery, she didn't miss a thing, but I'm not concerned about the waffles right
now.
I take the plate and lay it carefully on the nightstand.
With a serious look, I grip Stormie's perfectly curved thighs and rub them with my thumbs.
"You tell me everything first. Then we'll eat and go visit R and Jonah."
My mate nods and frowns a bit before running her fingers through the curls of my chest hair.
"Well... I died. I made you that promise, though. So I refused the after world. Rejected it entirely.
Apparently you can do that, not that anyone had tried before. But I got sent to the moon goddess
and she gave me an opening to come back to you. It was against the rules to just... Zap me back,
so she freed my spirit. I ended up inside this woman and I couldn't totally control her body and
just saunter over here, so I did what I could. Instead of coming here and being able to tell you I
was stuck in this girl, she ended making an awful plan to convince you to mate her."
I stare with a dumb look on my face and blink blankly.
"You were inside Miranda?"
"Melanie," she corrects.
Right Melanie.
"You were here? The whole time, you were with me?"
Stormie nods and leans in to kiss the dip in my chest lovingly.
"You mean did I have to watch you kiss someone else... Yeah. Only, it was like 10% me, so it's
not a big deal.
Anyways, I got her to find the letter and tried to make her give it you, but she wouldn't. I thought
I'd be stuck there forever, but you killed her and... Poof! My spirit was set free. Kind of. It left
her body and went back to mine, which was buried six feet underground.
That's why I was all dirty when I came. I had to dig my way out and Ragnar, it took hours!"
For the next hour, she explains details to me while we feed each other bites of waffles.
It's only then that I realize how much she had to go through to keep her promise. It's the only
promise she's ever made, so no wonder she was willing to do anything to come back to me.
"You're so brave," I whisper against her lips.
The compliment of course turned into I love yous and we weren't able to leave the room for
another two hours. You'd think our various activities would make us tired, but it must be the
adrenile that keeps us going after our s*x session.
We get dressed quickly and I call a packmeeting.
"They'll all be gathered in thirty minutes, so we have that long to find R and Jonah to deliver the
news first."
Stormie smiles and pulls my hand with what little body strength she has. I laugh a bit and follow
obediently. It takes five minutes to find the two, and when we do, Stormie runs to them and
jumps up between them so both men end up catching her in a hug at the same time.
"S-s-stormie?!"
"Stormie?! Goddess! What the hell?!"
My mate giggles happily and looks between my beta and gamma with a fond look.
"But y-you were... Dead?"
I smile as Stormie puts her hands on her hips and tilts her head.
"I was, but it didn't stick. Obviously."
She says it like she's discussing why she doesn't want potroast for dinner. Not like she came back
from the dead or anything.
I give them ten minutes to talk and have everything explained before I Interrupt.
"We need to get to the pack meeting. I'm sure they'll all be just as excited."
We all spend another eight minutes walking to where the pack is gathered and I tell stories to
stay out of sight until I call her up.
She stands between Jonah and R, each with a protective hand on her shoulder.
The room is silent as I walk to the microphone and even more so when I begin my speech.
"Three months ago, our Luna was killed."
It takes only three minutes to explain the situation vaugely and I can tell everyone is confused as
to what I'm getting at, so I decide bring out the big guns.
Extending a hand to my left and nodding in assurance, Stormie heads out from behind the silent
wall and walks up to the platform with a happy smile.
There's a moment of silence until my mate is tucked safely under my arm, but by then, the room
errupting in clapping, whistles, yells, and tears.
I look at Stormie joyously.
I'm excited to have my mate back, and our pack is thrilled to have their Luna again.
