After that day I really didn't stay out late, carried my pepper spray, and switched between the two grocery stores in town, just so I didn't run into Mason. As for Tyler he was busy like always with his work and I with mine, for some reason my hip was better then it use to be, I still couldn't do the high bar, but I started doing parkour again, little by little, then one day I was doing some stuff in the park, when again to my misfortune, there they were running right at me, and I booked it, I knew I wasn't going to out run them, but I tried and jumped over fences and things just to by time, but when I reached the one fence I felt my feet pulled out from under me, knocking the air out of me. Then dragged into a secluded area, I kicked and fought to get them off and run but all three had me pinned down.

"I like when they fight, then just watch the emotion run out of them!"

"Let go of me!" I shouted but I felt the smack across the face.

"Little Tyler isn't here to save you now!"

But then three guys came out of no where and jumped on them, one of them was Nelson.

"Run Nat, run!"

I did, I ran all the way back to the house, and slammed the door behind me. My body shook really bad, as Jasmine came down stairs to see what was going on, and ran toward me when she saw how I was.

"Nat, what's wrong what happened?"

"Mason...he..he.." then i felt myself falling into nothing.

When I came to, I was in my room but I could hear shouting down stairs. I carefully got up and headed down stairs.

"You need to tell her the truth, now!"

"What would that gain, Jasmine, huh what would I gain?!"

"It would give her an idea of why that asshole is after her!"

"I'm not my father, Jas, I want her to choose!"

"Even if it ends up killing her?"

It was quiet when I got to the bottom step, and turned the corner, to find Tyler, Jasmine, and Nelson. They all looked at me, when I caught a look of me in a mirror I realized what was wrong, the side of my face was black and blue.

"What's going on?" I asked calmly nobody moved.Jasmine looked at Tyler and he was looking at the floor, really thinking hard.Pissed off Jasmine stood up and came toward me, and lead me to a chair.

"How are you feeling?"

"I have a headache but other wise I'm fine. What were you three talking about, what truth, and why are you talking to him like you know him?"

"That's the truth I was talking about, I..um..I have something to tell you."

"Jasmine." said Tyler, Jasmine glared at him then looked back at me.

"What?"

"I know we met in high school and we became really good friends, but I haven't been completely honest with you."

"Jasmine!"

"About what?"

"I didn't just move there, I was sent there, with my family."

"Sent by who and for what?"

"Jasmine!"

"Shut up, for God sake tell her the truth!"

Tyler finally seemed defeated and sat down.

"I first thought it was a stupid myth my father told me, but as time has past It's gotten worse and worse. Your great grandfather made a deal with my great grandfather, it was something simple, nothing hard at all, but they made a deal, your family got land and protection, in exchange for a mate for the son of the alpha, there's only ever been one of us born at a time. The deal was made and sealed with blood, your great grandfather didn't come through with his side of the deal, your grandmother was to be married and mated to my grandfather, it never happened, my grandfather thought heck not that big a deal, but he couldn't find his mate in any other woman, except your grandmother  who was already married and had kids, when my father was born they thought they could still fix the problem, but your grandmother didn't know about the pact and let your aunt move away, again my father couldn't find a mate anywhere, and settled for my mother."

" Okay so where do things go bad?"

Tyler looked at me and it made me actually feel scared of him.

"The mates kill themselves before they can be turned into werewolves."

"Why not turn them...I'm confused."

"Wolves can have babies with humans it's impossible to have them with an other wolf, so everything is fine during the pregnancy for the woman, but for some stupid reason, they kill themselves right after they have the baby, we have no idea why, I never got to meet my mother I grew up without her!"

"Okay, so what now?"

" A few years ago I was to be mated to a woman, I didn't want her family to go through losing her, so I ran, I ran away and refused to be Alpha, my father had forever given up on the pact being completed, but then he heard your father had you three."

"Me and my sisters?"

"He came to talk to your father one day, and he thought it was stupid to marry off one of his girls to a bunch of crazy people, but then...I meet you."

"You meet me?"

"You got lost in the forest one afternoon and I took you back to your family, I was about twelve at the time and you were about seven or eight."

I froze, I did remember that not just because I found it weird there was a boy alone in the forest but because, that day nobody had taken notice that I was gone. 

"That was you?"

"Yeah, my father saw the whole thing, and wanted me to go after you, but I couldn't more because you didn't live here, so he was going to mate me off with some other woman, I refused that too, and left the pack, Mason is a distant cousin, but if he mates with one of you he's the next Alpha."

"That's why he keeps coming after me?"

Tyler nodded and rub his face with his hands.

"So how does Jasmine come into all this?"

"I sent her to watch over you."

"And sabotage all my relationships?"

"No, there's where things are getting worse. Apart of the woman killing themselves, your families luck has been going south, they lost a lot of their money, have lost people along the way."

"My grandfather."

"And almost you."

"My...accident."

"Ever sense my mother died, my father has never been the same, he's not all there if you know what I mean and so Mason walks around like he owns the town, because my father turns a blind eye, he doesn't really know what's going on right now, the kids are from pack members who cross Mason, and so are the adults, and Mason just tells my father that the attacks are from rouges."

"Are you guys the only pack around the country?"

"No, but there's not a lot of us and running around being stupid, isn't smart either."

I sat there, taking all of this in, now things were making sense. That's why Grandma left me the house, and wanted to fix things, she must've noticed something and knew. Lucky me. Then my eyes fell on Nelson.

"So if you aren't Alpha why do you have 'people?"

"Because we rather help him, then Mason." replied Nelson.

"Thanks by the way." I told him, he nodded.

"Okay now that you understand what do you think?"

I looked at Jasmine and she understood not to ask yet, my mind was still processing everything, but a lot of things were making sense, I always thought we had really weird luck, but I guess i just got use to it.

After a while I got up and headed to the kitchen, I needed to do something normal, I started to cook brownies, and cookies, and cup cakes. I was just feeling a little more normal when i turned and found Tyler eating a brownie.

"What?"

"For someone that was just told there's a type of curse on you, you seem to take it pretty well."

"Not exactly, I'm still not sure I believe that everything falls on us to fix."

"True, but it could be a start don't you think."

"Mm, maybe, but for right now I just want to be left alone."

"I can give you space but I'm not leaving you alone, Mason is still out there."

"So what's going to happen with your businesses?"

"I have people and I can go check it out every so often."

"And what do you hope will happen with you watching over me?"

"I don't know, it would me interesting to find out."

He gave me a sexy grin as he said that, I had to laugh a bit, he was really sure of himself. I continued whisking some sugar cookie ingredients together when, he came behind me, making me go stiff, as his hands sat at my shoulders slowly moved out on my hands, I couldn't help notice how well we fit together, even when we danced at the club, I had felt it. I had tied my hair back in a bun, and I could feel his breath on my neck.

"Is that your heart racing when I'm close to you, Nat, what are you thinking?"

My naughty side peeked and I carefully let go of the whisk and the bowl I had been working with,I put my hands on his, slowly caressing them and pushing my butt back a little into him.

"Just wondering how well, my ass would fit in these strong hands of yours." I felt him go hard behind me. but he really knew how to up one.

"You know one of the biggest misconceptions is of  wolves mating?"

"What?"

"The painful side of things, there isn't any, not really anyway, you just feel it at first then it turns into the biggest, most arousing thing you've ever felt in your life."

"You don't say."

"Oh, yeah, it varies from wolf to wolf, but right here."

 He placed gentle fingers right where my pulse was, and I fought not to shiver. As his fingers run up along my neck, my body was reacting, and it needed to stop.

Almost like on cue, Jasmine walks in and stops in the door way. I moved away from Tyler and put more cookies in the oven.

"I'm sorry did I interrupt something?" she seriously was wondering.

"Not at all we were just talking."

She looked at me, and I nodded she shrugged and walked all the way in, and grabbed a brownie. Tyler turned to look at me, and gave me a look, "we' not done." was what it said loud and clear. I shrugged.He grabbed an other brownie and left.

Jasmine didn't talk for a while, then she peeked out the window.

"I really did walk into something didn't I?"

"I swear if you hadn't we'd be having s*x in here."

"That bad?"

I nodded and looked out the window, he'd gone inside his house.

"Okay tell me the truth, do you really feel nothing at all when you're with him?"

"Jas, I do, but he wants a mate not a one night stand, and I don't know if I'm ready for that."

"Well, he said he'd leave the choice up to you, not to put pressure but you better decide before Mason gets to you first."

I sighed with frustration, how did this mess get dumped on me? I finished doing the cookies and then Jasmine helped me get dinner ready, true to his word, Tyler came back and told us that he was going to be staying here in case Mason tried anything, I was too scared to argue so we agreed, I got one of the rooms ready. That night I didn't sleep at all with a mix of fear, lust and anxiety. after a lot of moving around and trying to get comfy I feel asleep.
