The next morning we woke up kind of late, Jas more then me,but still late it was 11:00. I groaned as I got up the pain was definitely high, I took a shower and headed down to get lunch ready, I was just getting things ready when I heard a knock at the door, I went to check to my surprise it was the Jesse look a like, alone.
"What do you want?"
"Hey, baby girl, I was in the neighborhood and wanted to invite you to lunch."
"First I'm so not your baby, second I'm not interested!"
"Come on baby, hard to get is fun but because you give in, and I promise you won't regret it either."
"No!" I said and tried to slam the door shut, but he pushed back, and I saw...no they couldn't of, his eyes changed color, and I could hear him growl. I thought he'd push me out of the way, but again. Tyler came out of no where and pushed him back.
"She said no, take the hint!"
"She doesn't know what she's missing."
"Honestly, I could careless!" I said at him. He glared at both of us and then was gone.
"How did you get on Mason's radar?"
"That's his name?"
"Yeah, was he like a one night stand gone wrong or something?"
"NO, I haven't slept with anyone in town and not really planning on it either."
"Okay well, try to stay away from him, okay?"
I just nodded and he was leaving when I called.
"Would you like some coffee?"
He turned to look at me, then looked at his watch.
"I can't but thanks for the offer."
I felt my stomach drop, as I watched him leave, and for some reason I wanted to have him close, I shook the feeling off and headed to make lunch.
Over the next few days, I neither was very paranoid or, Mason, was following we, I kept seeing glimpses of him every where I went, and every moment scarier then the one before. To my horror the council had me at a meeting late in the day, by the time got I done, it was dark, quickly I got in the car, suck the key in and turned it. Nothing, I tried again. Nothing, I was on the other side of town and walking would take me an hour. I took a deep breath and reached for my phone, it was gone, where the hell did i leave me phone? I groaned and city hall was closed already and all the surrounding businesses had closed at 6 it was now 9. So I guess I was walking, reluctantly I got out and looked around, it was clear of cars, and people, I took an other deep breath to steady myself and started walking toward my house, just to cut the time and the distance I walked right down the middle of town, among the buildings, where every alley was dark, what was creepier was how much of a ghost town this place looked like at night, and the spooky old sounds of cats and bottles rattling, then stupid me started thinking about the kids and the other people who had been found dead, right when I heard a dumpster lid slam.
i jumped but didn't make a sound, then I could hear soft growls, then the howl of something right behind me. I was panicking but I looked around and found I had walked right into a corner, then I heard hurried footsteps toward me. I looked around and took a deep breath, to steady my mind, and did what I swore I would never, the one thing that cost me everything. I pulled up my hood up and secured my bag and ran at the wall and used everything I saw to climb up on the roof, I could feel my hip throb but the adrenaline kept me going, once on the roof I ran toward home, but for sure I wasn't alone, whoever was right behind me. I jumped from roof to roof trying to get away from them, then right when I thought they had left me alone I saw a long gap between the two roofs ahead of me, that's why they slowed down.
Picked up more speed and lunged forward, for a hot second I thought I didn't make it, but I landed right on the edge as I held on and pulled myself on the roof, I had felt so relieved that I wasn't paying attention around me, until I felt someone grab, throwing me, and making me hit the door to the exit on the roof. Looking around I saw Mason walking toward me.
"NO one rejects me, b***h!"
I tried to scramble away but he was too fast, he grabbed me by the neck, when he brought me closer, my fear doubled, his eyes were a yellow color and he had a full mouth of sharp teeth. I fought to get away, that just made him laugh.
"That's it scream, be scared, scream!"
"NO!" I yelled at him as he slammed me onto the roof floor.
"Stupid until the end I see, I'll just leave you with a little token to remember me by."
He ripped my shirt and was working on my pants, but then I heard an other growl and someone ripped him off me, I rolled away and watched in horror as the new person and Mason fought, growls, ripping, and tearing at each other. Until he threw Mason off the roof, and then slowly turned to look at me.
"Stay away from me."I tried to sound brave but my voice slurred and everything started to get blurry until finally the darkness swallowed me.
My dreams were filled with monsters and demons scratching and pulling me. I bolted into a sitting position, and regretted it, my hip was out of the socket and the pain in my back was bad too, but then I realized I was on a sofa and in a large tee shirt, and was bra less. I tried not to freak out, I still had my pants on so that was something to be glad about, instead I looked around and found that i was in a house,as i took it in it was nice, homie even. Then I could smell someone, or on the shirt I mean, it smelled male, and rain like when it rains outside, that was his body scent, for some reason the smell brought me comfort...but why?
Then I heard footsteps and I covered myself with the blanket, and waited.
"Tyler?"
"Hey."
I was confused, but then the memories flowed and I could tell he realized that, and he walked very slowly toward me and sat on the other side of the sofa.
"Easy.."
"What..what are you...no wait, what the hell did I see...was it a nightmare or something?!"
"No, it was real."
I would pace if I could, none of this could be real, this couldn't be happening to me! I sat there just trying to process what all of this was, okay just breath...but then the damn pain brought me back to now.
"Just lay back, and calm down." He started toward me.
"Don't!" I said through my teeth and he stopped. I pushed on my hip but it wasn't moving, " damn it!"
"What's wrong?"
"my hip..it's dislocated and I can't get it..."
"I can help, but I need to touch you."
I had to swallow my pride and nodded he took a hold of my foot, and I knew what he was going to do, and braced myself. He pulled hard and I felt my hip pop into place, I bit back a scream. I was shaking, trying to just feel relieved but with everything else I couldn't.
"You need to eat something, are you up for it?"
I nodded and Tyler, got up and was back after a while with some food and orange juice, I ate slow not wanting to possibly puke in front of him. Once we were both done, we sat there for a min.
"Why is Mason so dead set on me accepting his invitation?"
"I wondered the same, and it's mostly ego, from what I've heard he's been around and not once have woman said no to him."
"Lucky me, men and their damn egos."
"What about you, I saw you make that jump that was impressive for a human."
"It's a long story, but it's from practice."
"I thought you were a gymnast?"
"I am but I also found l liked parkour too."
He nodded and kept looking at me, his usual dark eyes had speaks of yellow.
"Let me guess, werewolf?"
He grin that same grin that had me melting.
"I guess Mason didn't leave too much to the imagination right."
"Well, it was that or a vampire, and I see you walking out in the sun a little too comfortably to be that."
He smiled and agreed.
"Are you and Mason in a pack or some thing?"
"We were in my father's pack, but that's a long story, my father took him under his wing and now he thinks he knows the whole town.
"From what I've seen and heard he does."
"He only thinks he does, but he doesn't."
"How long have you guys been around?"
"Mmm, I think my grand father got here, my father grew up here and then i was raised around here too."
"How long have you Lived next to my grandmother?"
"I've been here for ten years."
"I'd come visit and I don't remember ever seeing you next door."
"I've been busy with my business."
"Construction right?"
He looked at me and smiled.
"You checking up on me?"
"Don't flatter yourself, no I actually heard whispers of your name among some of the older people in town."
"Okay, and what made you think I was that Tyler?"
"What other Tyler runs a construction business?"
"Okay point to you, yes, I am the owner of the club, I have my construction business, and I am low key the guardian of the town."
"You're a busy man, any woman's dream man."
He snorted and got up, taking dishes to the sink, turned back to me.
"I need to check you before I let you go, can I?"
"There's nothing you can do for my hip, and if anything happens with my back, I'll go to the chiropractor."
"You also have scratches done your chest, just check them often, if you start liking raw meat a little much let me know."
I felt the color drain from my face, as he grinned.
"That's not funny."
"Sorry dark humor, but really if any let me know."
I shook my head, he was such a dork, but in a cute way, he wanted to lighten the mood.not in the best way, but at least he tried.
"Well, I have work, you are welcome to stay." He walked toward his boots, that was my cue, I got my shoes on too. Then I suddenly realized the kids and the others would be outside and would see me coming out of the house. Great, Jasmine was going to badger me until I told her what happened.
"I'd better go too, Jasmine is probably worried, and I have to get to work too, but is this the kind of secret I'll be taking to my gave, or can I tell someone?"
"I rather you didn't say much, about it unless they say something to you."
"It's a secret got it, but then how am I going to explain my clothes, the marks, and me leaving your house?"
"The why you're coming out of my house, could be we spent the night together, and the other well you can bend the truth right?"
I glared at him, at the first suggestion, but he was right about the second part. So I followed him out of the house, and just as I was about to thank him, he pulled into a very deep kiss. I wanted to fight it but it was this damn feeling of connection between us, that had me enjoying it. Then he pulled away, his eyes with the same specks of yellow from before, his thumb running along my bottom lip. Like he was fighting something.
"You're welcome." He said, turned and walked away. I was frozen to the spot, but sooner regained control of myself and walked toward the house, where Jasmine ran out to meet me, squealing.
"I'm so proud of you!"
"Slow down, it's not what you think."
"Then what because I know a hot and heavy kiss when I see one!"
I explained how i had been attacked last night, and how Tyler had come to my rescue, he saw I wasn't too bad so he took me home and fixed me up there. Safe to say Jasmine, was a mix of horrified and fascinated, but dropped it for the time being, and I went to take a shower just ready to put the whole night behind me.
