The day after Mason's attack, Tyler was hanging out at the house more often. I could see right through the intention, he said he was watching over me for my own safety, but I knew he was trying to get me to fall for him, which I already was. I have no idea if he could feel it the same way I did but, I missed him when he was gone, it actually felt safe to me when he was around, and his touch woke my body up in ways I didn't think were really possible. But it was like I told Jas, he wanted a mate a permanent, forever person.
There were times when I would think about that forever life with someone not just Tyler and at first it scared me, I was only twenty two, almost twenty three and I was thinking of tying myself down with someone. Then again I've never been the type to be around or even go out too much, but I refused to be pulled into a dead relationship. where there was no love, no care, and no passion. Just a breeder and a trophy wife, not going to happen.
That weekend we had planned to go into the city to go shopping a little, I love the little boutiques in town but they were really expensive and I needed some new jeans and shirts, but when I got to the house, there was no one there, or at least not Jasmine. Tyler was waiting on the couch, seemingly sleeping.
He looked handsome even while he slept, I sat on the edge of the coffee table, and cleared my throat. Without opening his eyes or looking at me.
"Yeah?"
"Where's Jasmine?"
"She and Nelson are heading to the city as we speak."
"Okay and what are you doing here?"
This time he opened his eyes and looked at me.
"I'm your body guard."
"Okay we could've all gone together, you know strength in numbers and all."
"Nelson and Jasmine also wanted to be alone."
I gave a oh really look, but it doesn't really surprise me, those two couldn't keep their hands of each other, recently. Tyler wasn't the only one spending a lot of time over here.
"Okay, so you're my shopping partner for tonight?"
"Yeah, I needed to go into the city anyway."
I nodded and got up.
"So it's a date." I said testing the waters,
"No, I'm guarding you to keep you safe."
"Okay then I'm ready to go."
He looked at me, I was in leggings with that butt lift in them, and a cop top shirt and a light jacket, and sneakers. My hair was tied back in a pony tail.
"You're going out in that?"
"Yeah, I'm comfortable and we're just hanging out anyway."
He seemed to realize what he just admitted to, and stopped talking. I opened the door and headed out and he followed behind me. I waited for him to tell me in what car we were going in, he walked toward his truck, I followed him. Like a gentleman he opened the door for me and I jumped in. It was a nice truck, very well, personalized comfy, as he got to the driver's side, I put in my ear buds, and listened to my music, when he turned the truck on I took one bud out so I could hear him if he spoke.
"Don't seem to be the type to like heavy metal."
"Oh, just because I'm a gymnast I should like classical or graceful music is that it?" I teased, he smiled feeling he had worked me up, but he was right.
"I use to think that the graceful music was the way to go, but..um...someone got me into heavy metal and pop, and I loved it whenever I performed parkour or in gymnastics."
He sensed my discomfort at talking about the other person, and he glanced at me but didn't push.
"You also seem to be into a lot of other things, the way you dance for instance."
"That's thanks to Jasmine, she got into a lot of that kinda of thing, and I loved learning it from her."
We settled a little more into topics, like, food, about how he came up with the club, and the construction business, he explained that the club use to be a brothel type place, the guy that ran it actually had minors working there, and he bought him out, a lot of the girls went back home or took up work in other parts of the state.
I felt a little sick, I really never thought the town had that kind of thing going on, but then again I was so focused on my life that I never looked around me.
He asked me why I had done the program, I wanted to share what I couldn't practice anymore, but also to help those kids that needed it that's why I had the tutors too.
He liked the sound of that, I had to admit he wasn't Alpha and yet he took very good care of those around him.
"Um..How many are there in the pack or is that need to know?"
"There use to be about twenty wolves in my father's pack, Mason has killed half of them and others have left my father, it's almost literally his second, and maybe three other wolves, Mason has a hand full of younger wolves following him, and they've been killing off innocent people, I'm honestly surprised he has come after you."
I looked at him, my nerves now really on edge, what would Mason do to me?He turned to me, and placed his hand over mine.
"That's why I'm here to protect you."
I just nodded and looked out the window.
Once we got to the city, my stomach growled, he asked where we were headed first.
"Food,I'm in the mood for Chinese, what about you?"
"Sounds good to me." I gave him instructions to the chinese buffet they had here, and we got there, parked and jumped out to head inside.
They actually put us in the quietest part of the restaurant, so it was good, we got our food and sat down to eat, like I suspected Tyler got like three plates full of food, and a fourth of dessert. where did the man put it all away. I didn't even see him scarf it down he ate normal, normal pace and everything, yet he still had all that food. I had to laugh to myself, I loved a man that loved food.
By the end of our meal, the waitress came back with two tickets and I took mine and left my tip, told Tyler I was going to the bathroom. I got done in the bathroom, and the cashier told me my bill was paid. When I tried leaving a tip they said that was done too.
I thanked them and I headed out to the truck, when I got in, he handed me back my money.
"I thought this wasn't a date?"
"Well, it should've been."
I smiled but took the money and put it in my bag.
At the mall things got a little more intense, guys kept looking around at me, and a couple actually came over to talk to me. They asked for my number but I turned them down, one got a little touchy and Tyler told him to beat it before he beat him. I couldn't believe all this because of my leggings? Men were so stupid. I grabbed a few out fits, Tyler even got some new work boots.
Getting done we headed back to the truck and headed to what he had to do, I stayed in the truck, while he went in, he wasn't gone long, before he was back, but he was pissed with something.
"What's wrong?"
"Nothing just f*****g human incompetence!"
For some reason that stung a little, without thinking I took the paper he had thrown in the truck and looked at it. It was for a part, I looked over the number and asked about one of them, he said it was a four it looked like a nine. I got out and went in the place he had gone, the cashier was a little shaken, but came over to help me, I told him the number and he found the part right a way, I paid for it.
"If I'd know that last number I would've given your boyfriend the part but he..."
"Yeah, he has that affect on people thank you."
I took the bag with the part in it, and headed out to the truck, and handed him the bag, he took it out and nodded.
"SO they did have it, stupid human!"
"Or stupid werewolf, that couldn't keep his temper in check long enough to correct one stupid number!"
I shot back, as I sat down and put my ear buds in this time not talking to him at all on the way home.
The next day I laid in bed thinking about what happened yesterday, he really thought he was better then a humans, and that's what I hated about anyone, when they felt superior to others, my parents had that problem there was no room for failure and it you did, you were forever marked as that. After my incident they never let me breath about how much I had lost, day in day out, they would remind me how stupid I had been. To go from my parents to a man I would share my life with, then no, I wasn't interested. I turned as I heard the soft knock at my room door.
"Nat?" I heard Jasmine's voice, I pretend to stir a little, and turned to look at her.
"Yeah?" I stretched and yawned.
"Someone is here to see you, he's down stairs."
"It's Tyler isn't it?"
She nodded and I got up, taking my time doing so. Then I brushed my hair down a little and brushed my teeth, and with out changing I headed down stairs. I had pajama shorts and a tank top on. He was in jeans and pants a little more casual then his usal thing, he turned to look at me as I walked toward him.
"Hey?" he said softly.
"Hey, what's up?"
He seemed to really think over his words, then took a breath and spoke.
"I came to apologize for yesterday, it was out of line, and you were right if I had kept my temper in check, things would've worked out different."
"I feel a but in there."
"BUT I didn't mean it about you, it came out in the heat of the moment, and it won't happen again."
I looked at him and I wanted to believe it wouldn't, but I've lived with this kinda thing my whole life, and there was always a second, third, and fourth times.
"I get you're under pressure, Tyler, but I've been about those kind of out burst a little too often, and that's one of the reasons I moved away from my family, and I can't accept it around me anymore."
"I know for which I have apologizes for already, I'm not that kind of guy, Nat, I promise. let me make it up to you please."
I thought about it for a minute, but I just couldn't.
"I'm sorry, Tyler, I can't not right now."
He sighed and nodded, then turned, walking out of the house. I dropped on the couch soon Jasmine walked out to sit next to me.
"Is it really that over, like you would never give him an other chance?"
"I don't know, I didn't like what I saw yesterday Jas, over the stupidest thing he came out cussing out humans, I went in and they had what he was looking for, his stupid werewolf ego got in the way."
"Yeah, sounds about right for wolves."
"You know how that just pisses me off, with my parents being like that, and now...him."
"I'm sorry honey."
"Well,I guess it just wasn't meant to be."
"SO it is over?"
I looked at her and felt even more confused, was it over?
