Chapter Seventeen
After Kes disappeared in a hurry, Cherry returned to the nurses’ station. The staff nurse was going over something with another nurse. When Cherry approached she wrapped up the discussion and sent the nurse away.
“Our visitor will be moving to Oceanside Jail,” Cherry said. “Guards and an army vehicle will be arriving in about half an hour. I want you to prepare the prisoner for transportation by strapping it to a gurney. The guards will also secure it with handcuffs and shackles.”
The staff nurse’s eyebrows rose in surprise. It was understandable. She was used to treating people in order to make them better. But that thing that had arrived from space was not a person and it wasn’t going to get any better, at least not if Cherry could help it.
