3.Oh.My.God

Jules’ P.O.V. Oh. My. God. That somehow summed up most of my feelings for the last couple of minutes that had just gone by. Oh my God number one, was when my Uber had stopped the car and had told me that we had arrived at the address that I had given him at the airport, and he had brought me to Jenna’s new home. I would have rather had it if someone had picked me up at the airport, but this had all been a part of the master plan that Adam and I had organized as a big surprise for Jenna, his girlfriend, and my bestie in life. Jenna, was in fact, my very best friend, my confidante, and my sister in all but blood. So, when Adam had called me a few weeks ago, with a mysterious proposal for me to come and visit her, I just hadn’t been able to resist. When the Uber had picked me up at the airport, I had felt excited about this visit, knowing I would get to see Jenna and finally meet her boyfriend that she seemed to be so in love with, and who without a doubt would one day turn into her husband. I mean… I knew Jenna, and I knew how Adam felt about Jenna. The love he held for Jenna even came through a phone conversation or live chat, so it wasn’t a question of if they would marry, but simply when he would pop the question. As the driver took me through the winding roads leading to a small town called ‘Fairview’, the anticipation built with every mile the car drove, knowing that I would finally see Jenna again after months of being apart. As I approached her new house, I couldn’t help but marvel at the country-looking, picturesque surroundings I found myself in. Fairview was a beautiful place indeed, the kind you would see in postcards or old fifties movies, and it filled me with a sense of wonder and excitement, as I looked at the place that looked anything but Chicago, the town that I had called my home for the last couple of years. yes… had. But more on that, later on. When I had arrived at Jenna's new house, my mouth had just dropped wide open, as I stepped out of the car and I had taken my suitcase out of the trunk, my heart pounding with curiosity as I looked around the street. This house was magnificent, no matter what angle you would look at it. It was a blend of rustic charm and modern amenities. It was clear that both Jenna and Adam had poured their hearts into making it a home for their growing family. I had been taken aback by the house’s sheer beauty myself, nestled among towering trees and a well-kept front lawn. The house exuded an air of rustic elegance. The exterior was a blend of wood and stone, with a sprawling front porch adorned with rocking chairs and hanging plants. The sun-kissed façade seemed straight out of a country magazine. Either this Adam Miller guy is incredibly wealthy, or Chicago is just expensive as hell… Living in a bustling city like Chicago had taught me to appreciate a small, cozy and far too expensive apartment, and the art of making every inch count. My one-bedroom apartment had felt like a luxury in the big city, but this house right in front of me was on another level entirely. I mean… I knew Jenna had inherited from her uncle, but I had never dared to ask her just how much that had been… maybe her uncle had been a secret billionaire, and I had just never known? “Wow,” I muttered to myself, my eyes scanning the impressive architecture before I thanked my driver and I walked over to the front door to ring the doorbell. When the door swung open a couple of seconds later, I was greeted by Jenna’s surprised face. Her giant pale blue eyes met mine and instantly made me feel at home. “Jules!” She gasped, her eyes widening even wider in disbelief. “What are you doing here?” She gasped again as she stepped back, her arms opening for me, as always. “Surprise!” I yelled, raising my hands in the air before I pulled her into a tight hug. Making me understand once again just how badly I had missed her. “I can’t believe you’re here! This is the best surprise ever!” Jenna answered me as she hugged me again, her embrace turning just a little tighter around me. As I stepped into Jenna’s house, I was immediately struck by the warm and inviting atmosphere that hung in the air. The interior was just as beautiful as the outside. It was spacious, tastefully painted, and almost completely decorated and furnished, apart from a couple of moving boxes that had been placed on the floor in the center of the room. Just as I was taking in the surroundings, I heard footsteps approaching. Turning around, I saw Adam entering the living room, looking exactly like he had done on the phone, because up until now, that was the only way I had ever seen him in the flesh, during a video call or through photos that Jenna would send me. “There you are!” Adam’s voice sounded from the living room as he smiled widely and welcoming at me. “What? Did you know that she was coming?” Jenna asked in surprise, as she looked at her man, making me grin because I understood that our master plan had worked. “Of course he did, I told you he was the right man for you, inviting me over and all.” I laughed, as I saw how two other men entered the room behind Adam. And that was when Oh. My. God. Number two came to exist! “This is Blade and Koda, two of Adam’s brothers. Guys, meet my best friend Jules from Chicago.” Jenna spoke as I took in the two men who had just walked inside the living room behind Adam. I couldn’t help but feel a little overwhelmed by what my eyes took in. Jenna had talked about Adam’s brothers, but nothing could have prepared me for their striking presence. I mean, the girl could have warned me at least… what the hell is in their gene pool? The first one I introduced myself to, had this air of confidence and mischief about him, and somehow I felt very aware of how out of place I felt, standing there in my casual attire of traveling clothes, compared to their rugged handsome, devilishly good looks. “Nice to meet you,” I nodded, extending my hand to shake the guy named Blade Miller. He had a smug grin plastered on his face, and somehow, I could just sense that he would be the clown of the family. But then, I was introduced to the next brother, Koda Miller, and I couldn’t help but feel some sort of zing soaring through my body as my eyes took him in. I mean… nothing could have prepared me for the man standing before me. Koda Miller's presence was striking, if that was even the right word to use. He had a rugged charm about him, with deep brown eyes that seemed to hold a world of secrets. His dark brown hair framed his face in an almost wild, untamed manner as it curled behind his ears, adding to his mysterious allure and bad-boy looks. His shoulders were wide, his waist slim and his arms broad as he towered a full head over me. When he extended his hand to shake mine, his touch sent a shiver down my spine, and for a moment, time seemed to stand still. And all I could think was Oh. My. God.
