Koda’s P.O.V. I had been so lost in the electrifying scent and sight of Jules, as she had stood there in the living room, right in front of me, her hand in mine and her eyes fully on me, when suddenly, a hand shot out and yanked me away from her. I stumbled into the kitchen and turned myself around to find none other than my older brother Adam, with a surprised look in his eyes, as he looked straight at me, once the kitchen door had closed behind us and we had some privacy to talk. “What the hell is wrong with you?” He asked me, arching an eyebrow and looking at me as if somehow I had done something really stupid just now, while my wolf, Shadow, was in full-blown crisis mode at the same time. He had just caught the scent of our one true mate, and now he was throwing a fit like a stubborn toddler who was denied his favorite toy because it was in the other room. But it wasn’t just any toy we were talking about here, it was her, the one, she was f*****g everything! The beautiful woman who had come all the way from freaking Chicago to visit Jenna. The connection I could feel was instantaneous and overwhelming like the universe itself had conspired to bring us together in this very moment. But thanks to f*****g Adam over here, I was temporarily separated from her, and my wolf was not happy about that little fact No sir Not at all. “I need to get back in there,” I flat out growled at him, wanting to walk past Adam, but his large hand stopped me dead in my tracks, pushing me back and even deeper into the kitchen, as he stepped forward himself, blocking my way to the living room completely. What the hell is he doing? I need to get back to her! What if she leaves? “Adam, what the f**k are you doing? Let me pass!” I growled again at my older brother, since he was really starting to piss me off right now by not letting me back into the living room, which was where I needed to be. “What is Adam doing, what the hell are you doing, Koda? You just stood there with your mouth wide open, looking at Jenna’s friend as if she was the first woman you had ever seen in your life. I mean, I know she’s hot and all, but dude… compose yourself!” Blade, my other brother, intervened. Which also reminded me of another little fact that had happened a couple of minutes ago, so I quickly turned my full attention and frustration onto my other brother, Blade, as I grabbed him by his shirt and I flat out pushed him up against the nearest wall I could find. Slamming his back into the concrete wall which seemed to take him by surprise. “Wow!” Blade shouted at me in surprise, raising both his hands in the air as if he meant me no harm. Which right now, was the best thing he could do, for both our sakes. “You touched her! I saw the way you looked at her as well!” I snarled as I could feel my own jealousy spike to new heights. Shadow was practically howling in my head, begging for me to kill my very own brother, because he had called our mate hot and he had touched her. “Dude! It’s called being polite, it’s what people do when they introduce each other. Didn’t we get the same upbringing?” Blade answered me sounding stunned as his eyes scooted over to Adam, to which Adam chuckled, and both Blade’s and my head turned in Adam’s direction, probably both wandering what the hell could have been so funny right now. “Koda, calm down. Both you and your wolf. Make him stop, push him back.” Adam spoke to me softly, shaking his head as if somehow, he had figured something out on his own, and he thought that it was funny now that he finally understood and had connected the dots all by himself. “Jealousy doesn’t suit you, baby brother,” He added, to which I shoved Blade’s body against the wall one final time, just to get my point across to him, before I finally let go of him and stepped back, running both my hands through my hair because I felt as if I was losing my Goddamn mind right now. “Blade, you might want to steer clear of Koda and Jenna’s friend for a while. Koda's a bit… territorial right now.” Adam spoke as Blade’s eyes grew wide, his dark eyebrows rising slowly as if he finally seemed to understand what the hell was going on with me. “NO WAY!” He shouted loudly, before he started laughing, smacking his hand on his leg as he leaned back against the wall where I had just pushed him up against. Clearly, he had finally figured it out as well, and he was finding my misery quite entertaining. “What way?” Skye asked in surprise as he walked into the kitchen with Gran right behind him. Both not having a single clue about what had just happened in the living room only minutes ago. Oh God… please, just kill me now… “Koda’s one true mate is in the living room. You should have seen his face when he saw her! He couldn’t even say a damn word to her!” Blade straight out laughed, making me fist my hands so badly that I could feel my knuckles turn completely white, because now more than anything, I really, really wanted to punch him in the face and knock his perfect teeth out. “No way?” Skye gasped in surprise, before his face turned into the biggest grin I had ever seen on him. Which in his case, meant a lot! Fuck, those two will never let me forget this moment… ever…. “Excuse me, let an old woman pass here!” Gran yelled in between all the chaos that was already happening, raising her hands as she walked past us all and straight into the living room, wanting to see my mate no doubt. Hell, that made two of us here! “Let you pass? Let me pass!” I shouted behind her, to which both Adam and Skye pushed me back to where I had been standing once again. From what I could see right now, Blade wasn’t taking any chances on me anymore for the time being. Good for him. At least I had one smart brother in my family. “You are not going back in there until you have pulled yourself together,” Adam told me, giving me his father-s***h Alpha look. How dare he… the little fucker! “I can’t, my wolf is going crazy here,” I growled, shaking my head and hoping to shake him off. “Calm down, and try to push your wolf down as deep as you can, it helps. Trust me.” Adam nodded at me, squeezing my shoulder because he knew bloody well how I was feeling right now. And damnit, my big brother might feel like a pain in the ass most of the time, but right now... at least he understood me like nobody else could. “What do I do?” I asked Adam, swallowing past a new-forming lump in my throat “You act like a human, first of all, because that is what she is, and don’t forget that, no matter how hard your wolf is telling you to go for her.” Adam told me, pulling me straight back into reality with his words. “Fuck.” I gasped, letting my head fall back in defeat. The fact that my mate was a human wasn’t a bad thing for me… I just knew now that it would take time… human time. She didn’t feel the mate bond like I did, which meant that I would have to… what? Court her? Date her? Woo her? Fuck! I hadn’t even been able to talk to her, let alone flirt with her and make her fall in love with me… “Koda, finding your mate is a big deal. You can’t just waltz up to her and ask for her to spend the rest of her life with you. You need to make her fall for you as well. Be charming, attentive.” Adam told me as I scratched my head. “Can he look at her breasts while being charming and attentive?” Skye snickered next to us, making Adam turn at him to give him the evil eye as he lifted his finger at him. “Stop talking right now, both of you, or I will kick both your asses so you won’t be able to sit down for a month, or even worse, I will let a male wolf have it at you while you are talking about his one true mate,” Adam spoke to Blade and Skye, to which both dumbasses nodded and finally turned around, picking up some boxes that they carried out of the kitchen, finally giving Adam and me some privacy. Or going into another room to snicker some more with just the two of them. “You’re going to do great. Just be yourself. And remember, she is your one true mate, Koda. She will feel some sort of pull towards you as well, even though she is a human. You’ve got this, I know you do.” Adam told me. I appreciated his advice, and it even gave me a bit of confidence. “Thanks, Adam.” I sighed, running my hands over my shirt. Let’s do this You can do this. Hell yes, you can do this! My wolf Shadow shouted, making me roll my head on my shoulders because right now, my wolf would tell me just about anything, in order to get me in the room next door. But just as I was about to step back into the living room, Jenna walked into the kitchen, her head looking from me to Adam and back as her eyes held some form of worry. “Everything OK back here?” She asked both of us, to which Adam smiled at her, leaning against the kitchen island as he placed his hands in his pockets. “Koda just wanted to come back into the living room to talk to Jules.” He answered Jenna, whose eyebrows rose as she looked back at me in wonder. “Why did you look at her in such a funny way?” Jenna asked me like a detective, to which I looked at Adam, sending him a silent threat not to tell Jenna that Jules was my one true mate just yet. I needed to get in contact with Jules on my terms first, and the last thing I needed was for everyone to stick their noses into my business. “Sorry, she’s just very pretty,” I answered Jenna, who smiled as if somehow she believed the answer coming from my lips just now. “Can you give me a hand with the last boxes, Gorgeous? Koda can help Jules in the living room in the meantime.” Adam added, and I took a mental note to thank my brother for this, later in the day when we would be alone again. “Oh,” Jenna spoke, looking back at me once more and making me wonder if maybe she had already picked up on something I wasn’t telling her just yet. “Jules is already gone, she just left,” Jenna answered instead, to which my head yanked her way and my mind went into full panic mode once again. “What? Where did she go?” I asked Jenna, to which she shrugged simply. “She will be staying at Uncle Ben’s Inn during her stay. She and Gran already went ahead. Gran, for some weird reason, seemed to like Jules and insisted on driving Jules over there herself. But I mean, who wouldn’t like Jules?” Jenna smiled widely at me, clearly happy to have her friend close by again. And at the same time as Jenna was smiling, my wolf was throwing the biggest temper tantrum known to the werewolf history, because even now, we still hadn’t said one single word to our one true mate. And now, my one true mate was off with my crazy grandmother, which didn't scare me, but patrified me. FUCK!
