Chapter 5

A frown spread across my face as I removed my gaze from the moonlight to the ocean waves. I was standing beside the tides with a cup of coffee in my hand but I couldn't stop thinking of everything Roy told me. of course I remembered part of the details, especially the night when my father dropped me off on the shores of this Island, but everything else I knew from that moment was all that Roy made me believe. It feels so strange that I could remember my mother and the life i had with my father but every other thing about my life on this Island was wiped off. It was just like this was done by someone unlike how Roy makes me believe I lost my memory after an accident. "Andrea," Roy called and I turned around to see walking towards me with two cups of coffee. "I thought you might need more," he reached the coffee out to me and I received it. "Thanks," I flashed a smile at him. "It's a beautiful sight, isn't it?" He said. "Of course," I furrowed my eyebrows and then turned away to a few teenagers who had set up a fire on the beach. Watching the children laughing and playing around the fire brought back the memories of my little time with my mother. Back then I was only six years old and she would always tell me these amazing stories of a girl who was born a werewolf but fell in love with a human mate and all that girl had to suffer including being chased away from the pack. Little did I know that those stories were not fiction but actual stories of how she was being mistreated. "You can join them if you want," Roy said and I turned to see him staring. "No, I'd rather stay here." "Andrea, you deserve to be happy, we will find your child but for now you have live. You don't have to suffer the same fate your mother did," "That's not a choice any of us has to make," I said and he heaved a sigh. He stared at me for a while with sadness In his eyes. "Andrea, don't let them brake you. They don't have right to decide whether you are happy or sad, you always have that choice to make and here is one opportunity that is set before you, so don't let it pass." He hissed patting me on the sounders. "It's late and I'm going to get some sleep now and you can join me later," he said and then left for the hotel. I took his advise as I made my way towards one of the teenage girls. "Hi, can I sit?" I said. "Sure," she replied adjusting a bit and I sat beside her. "My name is Ana," she reached her hand out for a handshake. "I'm Andrea," I exchanged handshakes with her and then looked forward to the children who were still playing at the centre. "Is this always the norms here?" I asked. "I can't tell," she replied. "Me and my uncle usually visit every winter season and each time we come here, I always find this place as my favourite spot. I always enjoy the warmth." I furrowed my eyebrows in uncertainty with my eyes were still on her. "So you are saying that you sail to this Island with your uncle every winter?" "No, that is absurd," she chuckled drifting her gaze back to me. "I live in this Island with my uncle." "And where is he?" "He went to get us some coffee, and I'm sure he will be here anytime soon," she replied still holding her steady gaze on me. "What about you, why are you here?" she asked. "Trust me, it's complicated…" I replied. She mused for a while and then looked forward. "Oh, there he is." she whispered and I traced her gaze forward only to spot a fine young man approaching with two glasses of coffee. And the moment he arrived, he handed one of the coffee to her. "Here," He said to her with a cheerful smile on his face. "Thanks," she replied and then looked at me. "Uncle, this is Andrea, and Andrea this is my uncle Nathan," she introduced us briefly. "It's good to meet you Nathan," I said, reaching my hand out for a handshake only to see the smile on his face fade. "It's good to see you too," he responded and then turned to his Cousin. "Ana, its late so I think we should go inside now." "But we haven't spent any quality time here?" "Just trust me Ana, we have to go," He said more earnestly and she heaved a sigh. "I'm sorry that we didn't get enough time to discuss more." "No its fine," I interrupted her as she flashed a smile at me and then stood on her feet as she and Nathan left for the hotel. This was the first time a stranger stared at me like that. Perhaps he dislikes me but even if there was a different reason I never wanted to find out since my mind was already occupied with grieving my child. When I lost sight of them, I reached my hand into my hood pocket as I took out a necklace my mom gave me, It was the last remaining piece of her I carried along with me to the island. I cherished it so much because there was a picture of her enclosed in the pendant and staring at it always reminded me of the great times we had together. If only she was here to console me, live would have been a lot easier. Time passed swiftly and one after another everyone left the beach until I was alone. I remained outside hoping that pondering on good memories would take away the pain of loosing my child but that was far from true. I remained there until the woods burned up and as the fire deemed I walked up the ocean tide. I looked into the waters at the ranging waves as tears rolled down my eyes again. "I am trying so hard to be brave but why does it hurt so much," I whispered to myself and then looked up to the glaring moonlight. "Mom, I wish you were still here to guide me through these hardships because I think I'm about loosing my mind," I wrapped my arm around my body and once more I prayed for the well being of my child. Wiping the tears from my eyes, the wind blew hard accompanied with a scent of danger. I felt the atmosphere change and my heart began racing. "What is this?" I whispered gazing around the surrounding.
