James POV
I was awoken by the sound of the door opening.I saw Bradley coming in.
"Good morning,James.Didn't expect to see you here though." He sneered.
"Good morning to you too." I replied.I sat up and rubbed my eyes.
"I wanted to talk to you." He said.
"Oh.Just hang on for a bit." I replied.
"I will be waiting outside." He said as he walked out of the room.
I climbed out of the bed gently so Elena doesn't wake up.I walked to the bathroom and slapped a handful of water on my face.I grabbed a few tissue papers and wiped my face.
As I walked out of the bathroom,my eyes fell on a sleeping beauty.I walked towards her and placed a kiss on her forehead.Then,I walked out of the room and saw Bradley standing by the door.
Without saying a word,he started to walk and I followed him.We walked to the cafeteria and sat down a table.
"James..." He whispered.
"You do know that your father and I were best friends.I've known you since the day you were born.You've always been the perfect child.As you grew,I saw you becoming into the best man in the entire world.To this day,I still remember when your father,mother,Sandy and I were sitting in the living room,enjoying our lives.Then you walked in and told us that your girlfriend was pregnant.You were so happy.I could see it in your eyes.You said it was the happiest day of your life.Surely,it was.Then you got married to the woman you loved so much.Adele.She is just perfect as you are,James."
"You were so happy with your life.One night,you told me about Adele.That she is the most perfect woman.You told me that you loved her so much and she is the reason why you live.She is your heartbeat.You told me that after she entered your life,you have never ever spoken to another woman let alone look at them." He whispered.
"So you called me to make me feel guilty?" I asked.
"No,you are my son.I want you to do what's right.This temporary pleasure? This will ruin your entire life.It will take away your entire happiness.What are you thinking? Do you really want to choose Elena over Adele? Seriously? I thought you had more brain in you!" He said.
"You have a daughter with Adele and do you even think that Elena wants more from you than pleasure?" He asked.
"Bradley,I-"
"James,Elena! E-L-E-N-A! She is the girl who is surrounded by dirty men in clubs.She is a w***e who has one night stands! She seduces every man and you think she wants anything from you?" He asked in disgust.
"She took a bullet for me!" I replied.
"So what? Taking a bullet gives you the guarantee that she will last forever?" He asked.
"What do you think will happen when all this is over? Even if you are avoiding it right now but one day,you will have to choose between them and whom will you choose?" He asked.
"When the time is right, everything will fall back into it's place." I replied.I walked out of the cafeteria.I knew whatever doing,it wasn't right but Elena...even when everything was feeling wrong in my life,she is the only thing that feels right.
I opened the door and she was awake.
"Good morning." I smiled as I sat beside her.
"Good morning.Where did you go?" She asked.
"Just the cafeteria." I replied.
"I missed you." She whispered as she embraced me.
"I am here." I touched the back of her head.
"I am going to miss you." She whispered, without any eye contact.
"Why?" I frowned.
"How long are you here? Just a few more days.Then what happens?" She asked.
"I guess time will tell." I replied and she nodded.
"You look really hot when you are angry,you know." I smiled.
"You're crazy.You should see a mental doctor." She chuckled.I leaned forward and kissed her lips.
"Let me grab breakfast for you, alright?" I asked.
"Don't you have your session now? Where's Maxi?" She asked.
"Yes, it's after a while so I will do that after breakfast." I said.
"Did you miss any while I was out? Did Maxi treat you well?" She asked.
"Yes.I have never missed any day." I smiled.
"That's my good boy." She replied and kissed my cheeks.
"You are really nice to me." I said.
"I am not nice to you." She replied.
"Oh, I wish you could see yourself in my eyes." I smiled.
"And uh...I need to tell you something but don't take it otherwise." I said.
"Whenever you say the phrase 'Don't take it otherwise' I feel like you're gonna say something really terrible." She replied.
"It's not terrible." I assured her.
"What is it?" She asked.
"It's Bradley.How does he treat you?" I asked.
"Well,since the day I killed a patient,he started hating me." She replied.
"It's just...he says things to me about you and I know you're not like that.I just don't like it when he or anyone says something bad about you." I said.She cupped my face and kissed my lips.
"I am so lucky that you are with me." She smiled.
"I am not as good as you think.I am not an perfect angel if that's what you want." She added.
"I don't want an perfect angel but you are a perfect angel." I replied.
"I killed a person." She narrowed down her eyes.
"It wasn't your fault." I replied.
"I...I left my parents." She looked at me innocently.
"After you and I both completely recover,we will go to your parents house,ok?" I asked.
"I can't.I can't face them after what I did." Her eyes filled with tears.
"You believe me,right?" I asked as I held her hands.She nodded.
"I will take you.Everything will be fine.I promise." I smiled.She embraced me and broke down in tears.
"Shh, it's fine." I comforted her and wiped her tears.
"You are an angel." She said.I chuckled at her words.
"Look at me,I am ruining your life." She hid her face in my chest.
"You are my life." I replied.
"For how long? A few days later,you will be gone." She said.
"Time will fix everything,I promise." I smiled.She smiled back and embraced me again.
